A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I ended up running into him on the way home from work last night. He is building a house very close to mine. We met at a stop sign, and he got out o his truck and we chatted a few minutes. I didn't want to say "are you still going to call me later" He ended up not calling, even though he had said he would when he left Sunday night.I wondered if running into him on the way home from work in his mind was in lieu of a phone call? This all seems so high school to me. It's not that I feel too old to be in love, but I feel to old to sit around and wonder if someone really is going to call. Sometimes, I think guys are just trying to see if they are only out for one thing. I have no idea if he is that type of not. I could easily see him every day where he is working on the house. I have to drive past it on my way home from work. I am certainly not going to stop there to talk to him, even though I would like to. One I want to know is.... How much can any of you eat? I am still pbing sometimes if I eat too fast or don't take small enough bites. What do you order on the menu and can eat easily. Since my 4th fill, it's gotten tricky for me. I can't always be saying I had a late lunch. (in case he does invited me to dinner again) If we end up seeing each other a lot, I will tell him about the band, but it's way too early to know much of anything. Thank you my single friends. I am in need of advice here. I haven't been in the dating world for too many years. -

Hey everyone! I have decided I am too old for this dating stuff. It's messing with my head! I met the guy who didn't see my picture and I thought we had a fabulous time. He said he would call today. Now I feel like a stupid teenager wondering if he really will. This is really hard. I got hurt so badly from my last bf, I am not sure why I ever thought I wanted to try again. Chrispy, I think you are really brave! I was so freaked out when we talked on the phone and he asked if I wanted to have dinner. I wasn't sure if I could even eat. I have really been taking it slow since my problem of being overfilled. I haven't really even had meat yet. I ended up telling him I had a late lunch and suggested Chinese. I ordered a bowl of egg drop Soup to play it safe. The last thing I wanted to do was puke on a first date. -
Living in Truth- Does medical intervention "cure" the problem
Oregondaisy replied to Lap_dancer's topic in The Lounge
I am going to look up that focus on the family website. I think Overeaters Annon. is also good for teaching people to deal with their issues. I have found the problem with lap band is that I can still eat if I want to, when I don't want to deal with something. My biggest downfall has always been ice cream. This is a bandsters delight. I could probably eat a half a gallon of ice cream and not PB, unfortunately. The good thing is that it's so much harder for me to lose than it is to gain. I can easily gain 5 lbs over a weekend and it will take me 2 weeks to lose it. I have to really decide how badly I want that ice cream. Nearly every time I wanted to make a trip to Baskin and Robbins, I came to LBT instead. -
Yes Wendall, post it here. I am sure it would be a great help to everyone. It should be listed as a must read for someone considering lap band surgery, or who just had surgery.
-
That's weird, Sarah. But I do agree. I have come to decide that the band has a mind of it's own. All I can say that I know for sure is that I never want to be too tight again.
-
Yes, thank God for LBT. I didn't even know the surgery existed 3 years ago, Wendall. There isn't any excuse for it now though, when you read some of the posts of people that had surgery 3 days ago and want to know why they are hungry, or why they haven't lost weight.
-
One of my favorite things to do is try on my old clothes. I put a pair of pants on that were tight on me before surgery. I only got to wear them for a short time after surgery until they were too big. I put them on the other day, and they fell off! Even buttoned up, they would not stay on. That made me feel great. But not great enough to get rid of them. I have boxes of clothes that I am afraid to get rid of. Even with the band, I still have this feeling that I will gain it all back. The band is too good to be true.

Does anyone know how this can happen? He put the needle in and drew out the 2.5 that I had in there. Then he said he was only going to add .25 to bring me to 2.75 because he thought I was approaching my "sweet spot" I am sure I lost all my fill. I have zero restriction. I have had my band long enough to know what a fill feels like, and even if the .25 wasn't enough, I should have the same restriction as I had with the 2.5. I am eating like I have no band. Taking huge bites and chewing like I did before being banded. I know which foods I had to chew until there was nothing left to chew, and I can eat anything now and just chew like I used to. Where did my fill go? Is it possible that when he gave me my fill he gave me a leak? Thanks, I look forward to any advice I can get here. I will be back in his office Friday, but until then I am really worried. I don't have the money for a bunch of tests. My insurance doesn't pay a penny on anything band related.

It's getting pretty bad here at LBT. I see so many posts that make it obvious they have not read any part of the board that they should have read before surgery. I read every bit of information I could read before I had surgery, so I would know what to expect. You would think people would do that before they had life altering surgery.

Got a fill and lost restriction!
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wish I knew what to tell you. I am lucky that my doctor is less than 5 min. from my house. All I can tell you is if you don't have a leak, and he fills you too much, you WILL be miserable. My doctor just has us drink some Water in the office right after the fill. I drank the water just fine, but I was way too full. It sounds like you need to have a fill with fluro. I have never had one like that. That's the only real way to find out if you do have a leak. Is there anyone in his office that you can call for advice? -
How do you get over the head issues?
Oregondaisy replied to Maurdan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No I don't mind at all. I have had 4. I lost weight after each one, but it was almost hard to keep it off. The restriction didn't last. Since I have had this 4th one though, it's almost like I have to force myself to eat. Feel free to ask me anything. -

I got banded in Dec. I am almost 9 months since I was banded. I am just now, getting to where I feel the band is really helping me. Before this,it was major willpower. Sheila, you are a long way from having enough fills for the band to do it's job. -

You're welcome Maurdan. You definitely are not alone in this. Lap band talk really has been a life saver for me. I was really unhappy with my weight loss and felt like I was the only one who wasn't losing. I was eating right and exercising almost every day. It's only since I got this last fill, that I can barely eat. I am not sure if I like it, but I sure have been losing better. I don't really want to snack, because I just feel so darn full all the time. Like I said, I am not sure if I like it, but I did pay 10,000.00 and take a 2nd mortgage out on my house to lose weight, so I am going to stick with it for awhile longer before I decide if I should get a little bit more taken out. I am not pbing, so I guess this is how it's supposed to be. -
You really aren't supposed to pb when you are done eating. So that's good. I guess they call the sweet spot when you are full from about 3/4 of a cup of food, and stay full for close to 4 hours. Are you exercising? Most people who have had really good success with major weight loss exercise regularly. If you have only lost 35 lbs in a year, you might take a look at what you are eating. You are supposed to eat protein first, then a little bit of veggies and fruit. A lot of the people that are losing well eat less than 1,000 calories per day.

How do you get over the head issues?
Oregondaisy replied to Maurdan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Very good points, Bubble I was going to say too that it depends on which head issues you're dealing with. I have to say though, since I have gotten the proper fill, I am not interested in eating. Looking at food almost makes me nauseous. If you tell us what head issues are giving you the most trouble, maybe we can be of more help. -

Thanks Chrispy, I want to have some more taken now that I have lost more weight. I ended up talking to him on the phone, and we are possibly going to meet tomorrow night. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes. -
Finding a boyfriend/girlfriend on LBT?
Oregondaisy replied to neveragain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow! And I am afraid to try to have a relationship with someone 100 miles from my town, where there are actually more single people. Wheetin, that is such a great story! -

They had a story on ER about that. A professional photographer had cancer and captured the process. It was very emotional. -
Absolutely! That is exactly right! And if you binge on food, it's considered a relapse. But- nobody is perfect and you are still considered recovering. It's a process.

What is going on? The past few days the tool bar is solid blue. If I run the mouse across it, I can faintly see New Posts, which is where I usually check posts every day. Is that going to be fixed?

Yes, I got unfilled and it's taken me a week to slowly get back to eating. I am very excited that I have dropped 8 lbs from being over filled and not being able to eat. I stayed on liquids for a week because I wanted my tummy to rest. A guy on another dating site just asked for my picture. I am not going to send it. I am tired of sending it out then never hearing back. He lives in this town, and there is no reason we couldn't just meet if he wants to see what I look like. We'll see if he demands a picture first. That must be a really bad picture of me. I want to get some new updated pictures done before I send any out. I am so tired of feeling so lousy after I have sent this one out so many times. -

I think you did. It's a bad idea to introduce the kids to each other until you think this is going somewhere. Kids make friends, and they don't understand why they can't see their friend anymore, if the two of you stop seeing each other. I have been a single mother since my kids were 3 and 6. They are now 23 and 26. I was always extremely careful who I introduced into their lives. -
Addiction is indeed a recognized disease these days . If you don't feel that you are addicted to food, then perhaps OA isn't for you. Addiction can be seen in ways such as turning to food for dealing with emotions, comfort, or when you are lonely or angry etc. I am sure you believe in the bible, but OA definitely teaches you to depend on a higher power. It's your higher power, (whether you call it God, Jesus, or just higher power) who will help you with the disease of addiction. Once you are getting the help you need from your higher power, your disease is considered in recovery, or perhaps in your terms, set free.

For me the third one helped a lot, but the 4th one has been even better. I always lose right after a fill, and then it seems to stop. I have high hopes that I'll be able to continue to lose with this 4th one. For the past week, I have no desire to eat.
