What was the deciding factor?
Oregondaisy replied to Tgarden's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never considered bypass. I don't want to have to worry about malabsorbsion issues. My daughter had bypass and she has all sorts of problems. I know a lot of people with problems from the bypass. I loved the idea of just having a small stomach. It seemed like the perfect option to me. -
No, I didn't start when I was at goal. I started when I was probably a size 16. I put honest pictures up and said I had recently begun working out and really enjoying it and expected I would be losing more weight in my profile. My first online relationship lasted 3 years. We lived together for 2 of them. It broke up because he quit his job and I told him he could not live in my house without a job. The next one lasted a little over a year. It broke up because of his kids. they were very jealous of him seeing another woman other than their mother, even though there was no chance of them getting back together. In the end, he let them have their way. This last one lasted 2.5 years. It broke up because I could not take how cheap and what a tight wad he was. It got out of hand.

How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so lucky ,. I am 61 and i have long dark hair and I don't have to color it. I hope I never get grey hair because I would hate to have to keep it short just so I can color it all the time. I guess I am going through some changes too. I got a book about break ups after Allen and I broke up and it has this relationship inventory . I need to know why I keep picking bad men. -

Yes , I am anxious to meet him. I am pretty laid back and I hope he is too. He seems more type A personality than me. I'm glad ge got antibiotics so he can get well. I can't be around any sick people cause I won't be able to hold my 2 week old grand daughter. -
Thanks everyone! It's crazy to me that I am still dealing with all of this at my age. I hope this thread will live on becasue I know there's a lot of women who start to meet guys this way, and always have the question of "what do I do about my skin" Nobody wants to get intimate if they are uncomfortable with loose skin. Usually by the time it gets to that point, you have told them about your surgery and all they care about is getting you naked. There's always questions that come up when people start online dating for the first time, after they have lost weight.

What do you do if you are dating two of them at once? the one is 4 hours and I really would like to keep seeing him but I am not sure what is going to happen with the one only 1 hour away. I don't see why I can't date both of them, but I sure don't want to be having sex with 2 people.

I am really surprised I didn't gain anything from my big dinner out last night. I am going to fast anyway because I am sure in maintenance I will have to fast at least one day a week. The guy I have been planning to meet went to the doctor today and now has antibiotics so I should have a date on Friday. I spent $500 on tickets to the Portland Trail Blazers for a really good game for my son's 30th birthday. So I will be going to Portland that weekend. Want to hear something strange? My husband who was killed on the job at age 36 Date of Birth is 12-10-50 Larry, the new guy who is now on antibiotics, his date of birth is the same. The man I was with after my husband died , I was with for 7 years. We were going to going to get married but he got stomach cancer and died. His name was Larry. How strange is this? -

I think I am coming down with a cold. My nose is all tingly and I have been sneezing all evening. I am going to be bummed. I took some Zicam. I hope that helps. I feel really bad for all the people in the freezing weather. I am always glad I am here in the winter when it's in the 50's every day. In the summer, I always want to move because it's too cold here for summer. Going to be fasting tomorrow. I went out to dinner for a friend's birthday tonight and probably put on a couple lbs. -

I really think I have to count all carbs not net carbs. And I have to count calories. I made a big mistake and regained weight not counting calories. But I lost it again counting calories. -
Kaip82 which online dating sites do you use? Do you think there are better men on the paid sites? The guy in Portland wants me to stay at his house. I told him I would be getting a hotel. He also wants to meet half way. We haven't decided if we would stay overnight because it's only a 2 hour drive. If we do that, which is what he said he wanted to do, I hope he knows we will be getting separate rooms. He has never brought up the topic of sex, and I brought it up on the phone last night. I told him that he is the first person that I have many phone conversations with that has not brought up the topic of sex. He said that he didn't feel that are ready at this point in our relationship . I am amazed because like I said, most guys want to talk about sex on the phone. I am supposed to meet another guy that only lives one hour away but he has been sick. I think he has that H1N1 flu. He's going to the doctor tomorrow.

I can't believe I missed so many posts. I haven't been getting my notifications and wondering why no body was posting in our group, Happy Belated Birthday Georgia! I never realized we were so close in age. If my back didn't hurt so much right now, I would say I feel better than ever at 60 because of my sleeve. Florinda I am so sorry for your loss. I have had a lot of losses and I really feel for you. That is so wonderful that you sang at his service. I would never be brave enough to do something like that. Please let me know if there is anything you need me to send you! I was at 137 and I was freaking out. I fasted yesterday and I am back to 135 this morning. I am going to the gym. I have had so many things going on that has kept me from going during the holidays. I hope I can go tomorrow, but I know my daughter is bringing my grand son over in the morning . I really need to get up early and go before he comes. My weight training really does help the way I feel both emotionally and physically. I hope everyone has a great Sunday! -
I didn't really have much pain with either surgery. It was the same when I got my band and when i had my band removed and the sleeve was done.

That's good to know. I really like them, but they are really expensive. I just hope that the net carb thing is right because a lot of people just count carbs not net carbs. -
Maintenance, life at goal, the thoughts that go through my mind as a "vet"
Oregondaisy replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It's really important to treat maintenance almost exactly the same as when you are in the losing stage. It's so easy to throw in little treats and not gain and then push the limits. Our minds play tricks on us. "You had that treat and didn't gain. "Normal" people have treats and they don't gain weight. We are not normal and never will be.We will always have to eat Protein first, drink lots of Water, and follow all the other sleeve rules, or we will go back to our old ways. It's just too easy to justify snacking and stay away from the scale. -
I gained my 15 lbs between my birthday and Christmas. My birthday is at the end of October, but usually friends want to take me out to dinner all week. Soon after, all of the holiday treats started showing up everywhere. I am so happy that I took that regain off, that now I am afraid to eat . I did end up gaining 2 lbs this holiday season , but it will be a lot easier now that it's only 2.
-
Yay! It's all over and life can get back to normal. As normal as life can be with a 2 week old baby in the family. My daughter had a baby girl 12-17 and I am helping out with my grand son a lot. It keeps me from the gym and I don't like it, but he's worth it.It's been hard on him having a new baby in the house.
-
I think getting a scope is a good idea. they can measure your capacity. I don't know exactly how much i can eat, but I know very well when I eat too much, it's very painful so I try my best to stop before I am full.

After the first couple of days it gets easier. The longer you stick with it, the better the results.

How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello all, Georgia, my daugter had this huge 60th surprise party for me. I hate surprises. I knew about it though because my son had left his face book page open. So I guess I am only a year older than you. I had a blast on New Years Eve , I went out with a friend of mine where a live band was playing and danced all night. I had these 2 guys arguing over who was going to dance with me. Total losers, both of them, but fun to dance with. My ex's daughter was over and she was telling me that her dad has a new gf. It's just amazing to me that he lived with me for 2.5 years up until 2 months ago and he's already got somebody spending the weekends with him and introducing as his new girl friend. Nice to know I was so easily replaced. Thank God for 5:2. If I still felt fat and could not wear my clothes, I'd be really depressed. Now I am hopeful that I am actually going to find a better man. -

Sheryl.Jane you''re going to meet someone that will sweep yoooff your feet. You just haven't met him yet, Are you on ok cupid? They have those questions they have you answer and those tell a lot about a person. I haven't weighed myself yet. I am afraid I am up a couple lbs. -
2 years post-op-gained 25 lbs! I'm so scared I've blown it!
Oregondaisy replied to Pagie's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It's harder to lose the 2nd time around. The 5:2 plan has worked for me when nothing else would. Read about it. It's called the Fast diet if you happen to see the book out there. Or you can google intermitent fasting. I know I am happy to be back in my clothes again! -
That pretty much sums it up!
