    A thread for Single Bandsters

share with us Chrispy? I usually rent movies. Sometimes I go and visit some of my married friends. sometimes I hang around my daughter if she isn't busy with her friends and husband. I signed up for Eharmony. They were doing a pretty good special. I am disappointed that they keep sending me matches from across the country. I am also disappointed that in all the pictures people have taken for me, I still look really fat in them. My face is just so fat.

    Is hair loss a given?

How much time? MY dr. said 9 months but I am past that and it's not slowing down. When did you notice that it was starting to stop??

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Welcome Brenda! It's been 9 months for me now, and I have lost 52 lbs. It's easy to gain even with the band because junk food is still easy to eat. Having the band definitely cuts down on hunger though. I like being full on such small portions. I am not happy either that the more I lose, the more the wrinkles and turkey neck show. I still need to lose about 20 more lbs. slowly but surely.

    Is hair loss a given?

I've been taking Biotin from the beginning and it doesn't seem to help. I haven't been able to get it down since my last fill. They are pretty big capsules. It kind of worries me that it might actually have been doing something, and now I can't take it.

Yay! I am so happy for you!! Are you going to keep eating the way you have been so you don't gain or are you going to start eating a more varied diet?

    PB question-Help!

I am hoping someone can help me with this. The last 3 times I have pbed I can hardly get it to stop. I know why I pb. I try to be really careful and take small bites and chew til there is nothing left to chew. Sometimes I just plain forget and take a big bite. Then it gets stuck and I throw it up. The problem is, for the next 2 hours I am throwing up foam. It always seems to last 2 hours. My mouth will Water, I spit it out, throw up some foam, over and over. Sorry this is so graphic. I tried WasaBubble Butt's suggestion that works for her. She takes a teas. of vinegar and oil dressing and it stops. I just threw it up. I know I have been told it's because of an irritated stoma, but is there any way to make these episodes not last as long? I don't dare drink anything, because I know I will just throw that up too. I need suggestions. And believe me, I am going to be more careful when I eat. I am going to be on liquids the next two days now. :help:
  9. I was on a two month plateau. It was horrible. I broke by going back on the liquid diet. It's so much easier when you do the Protein drinks and you know exactly how many calories are in them. It's easy to think you have written down every bite you put in your mouth, but unless you're using a measuring cup and a scale, your calories can be off. Plus when I am doing liquids only, I don't sneak a bite of anything else and forget to track it. The other thing that broke my plateau was getting a good fill.

UPS is a pain in the ass.

My son in law is a UPS driver. I am sure there is a way to call somewhere and have it delivered somewhere else. I live in a pretty small town though, so it's not a big deal for people here to just go and pick up their package at the office. I tell him your dilemma and ask him how you can get it delivered somewhere more convenient for you.

    chew, chew, chew

You can get full from mushies. You aren't supposed to drink anything for an hour after your have eaten. That will keep the food in the pouch and help you stay full longer.

    chew, chew, chew

Just take a big ol bite of meat and hardly chew it after a fill. You will soon find out why you need to chew chew chew. Yes, it does become a habit. You will soon think about it every time you chew and wonder if you have chewed enough so you won't get stuck. Once you've experienced being stuck a few times, you'll be happy to chew. It's either that or live on liquids.

Why do I do it to myself?

How did that thread get deleted? I liked that thread! I say Thank God for Protein shakes. After another horrible pb episode, I've been on them all day today and will be all day tomorrow. Even if I hadn't pbed, I happen to like the way they taste, and I don't have to worry about the size of my bites or how much I chew. They are a Godsend.

    PB question-Help!

I don't have any trouble pbing. It's stopping that's the problem. After I pb up what is stuck, I just keep pbing nothing but foam. foam and more foam, over and over again.

    OMG, How Crazy Am I????

what happened to our imposter thread? Somebody recently told me I don't need any more weight. That's so ridiculous. I am still fat. I don't think it's just me either.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

If you can barely eat anything, do you think you need to have a little bit more taken out? That was so rude of her to say that. She needs to have a lesson in manners.

    Is hair loss a given?

I was eating tons of Protein right after surgery. My doctor told me that too, so I made sure I had plenty and my hair still fell out. I know people that have 100 grams of protein per day, and their hair still fell out.

If you can't eat in the daytime, it doesn't sound like you need more of a fill. Are you exercising?

    Slow Loser

Are you sure you have the right fill? I was a slow loser until my 4th fill.

    Burping...

I burp all the time. It feels good. I burp every time I drink Water. When I need to burp and I can't, it's quite annoying. I heard once that burping is a good sign of restriction.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills

Isn't there a way to keep this post front and center? I don't want it to get buried. All the newbies need to have easy access to this post.

    Stop Me Damnit!!!

I hate it when I am too tight to drink Water. It's not that I can't drink it, it's just not as easy as it used to be. This fill is great. I had 2 bites of Italian Sausage for dinner and that was all I could eat. Bubble, you should invent an Afredo shake. You would get rich! Really, you should consider yourself at goal. They are going to cut a few lbs of skin right off! Yay!:clap2::bounce::peace::)
  24. Oregondaisy

Okay. I'm going to try again.

One thing to remember is that as you lose fat around the stomach, the band gets looser. So people do need fills even if they are a year and a half past banding. I am not saying you need a fill. I can't determine that for you. I can say that for me, I feel full all the time since my last fill. I don't know how long that will last.

    Is hair loss a given?

Mine is still falling out and shows no signs of stopping. However, my friend had open heart surgery in May, so I took note of when 4 months later would be. I asked her last night if her hair is falling out and it is! So I say it's anesthesia. I have been having more trouble getting my Protein in since my last fill. I am just so darn full all the time. I hope it's not from lack of protein or I am in trouble.
