I had my surgery 9 months ago and I burp constantly. I think it has something to do with the band and the diaphram causes air bubbles or something. Everyone I know that has a band burps. Hic up usually mean stop eating. It's called a soft stop. If you keep eating when you get the hic ups, you could throw up.

Okay. I'm going to try again.

I got 3 free with the surgery and from now on I pay 160.00 -
Yes, I think you should get a fill. Since my last fill, I never think about eating. I am always feeling too full.

How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't been able to take all my pills and supplements either. I decided which ones were the most important, and even getting those down is a chore. I have a pill crusher, so I might go back to taking my calcium. I will have to crush it. -
What do you mean, Wheetsin, by doing the turtle neck. Yea, I would like to look slimmer. I think (and maybe it's my imagination) that those pictures make me look fatter than what I see in the mirror. I don't want it for a professional event, but I did join EHarmony.

Keeping it a secret?
Oregondaisy replied to Fluffy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't told many people but I did tell people that I eat with on a regular basis. I am glad I did too, because since this last fill, I have a lot more trouble with food getting stuck. It's a real problem, so I would advise people to tell people you are close to and have meals with on a regular basis. I didn't tell people who I thought would be constantly asking me how much weight I have lost now, etc. -
The only way I can stand to be on the elliptiKILL is in front of the tv. I don't know if the ones that people have at home are the same as the one at the gym I go to. I usually set the resistance between 9 for one minute then 10 then 11 then 12. I hate that machine but I really feel it's a great workout. My trainer tells me to vary the machines I use. I would be curious if anyone uses a stairstepper. I can't decide which burns more calories, the stairstepper or the elliptiKILL.

Where are my fellow Oregonians?

Another Dr. Tersigni patient here. Where are you in Oregon? I love my band! -
If you're throwing up a lot, you could risk getting a slip later on down the road and losing your band. You are supposed to go on liquids for 24 hours after throwing up to give your stoma a rest. Believe me, there is a happy medium between throwing up all the time, and being able to survive on hardly any food at each meal and never being hungry. I was unhappy with my weight loss too, but right now I am at the perfect fill and it's made a huge difference. Get a small unfill so you don't risk losing your band.

It's kind of hard to explain. If you don't have a fill, you can pretty much eat what you want in smaller amounts. If you have a tight fill like I have right now, it's a complete different story. But I am happy about that. I got banded last Dec. and I was getting pretty tired of how slow my weight was coming off. I was over filled not long ago. I only live 5 min. from my dr.'s office so I asked for an aggressive fill. Unfortunately, it was on a friday, and I couldn't get some taken out until Monday. Yes, I have had food get stuck and it's painful. If I take too big of a bite, and don't chew well enough, the food can't go through the band. That's when it comes back up. Before it comes up, your body produces thick saliva and they call that sliming. That goes on for awhile before the food actually comes up. The reason I feel that sometimes it rules my life, is I haven't told many people that I had the surgery. Here is an example. A bunch of my girl friends are going to dinner this weekend, and they have chosen Tai food. Right now I have no clue if there will be anything on that menu that is band friendly. You can do a thread search. There are threads about what foods give you trouble. Feel free to send me a private message if you have more questions. I don't want to scare you, and I can't tell from this thread if you have already had surgery.

You could all go in the chat room. It might be easier, although I have really been enjoying reading all of this. It's hard to keep up with though, when the posts appear faster than I can read.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

LadyHR, I just noticed the time of your post. I hope you can get some taken out soon. I was never so miserable in my life trying to sleep when I was too tight. There is nothing worse than being overfilled. -
I am having a heck of a time getting pills down. I threw up a Celebrex this morning. It's a capsule and not even a big one. I wonder if capsules just stick to the sides of the pouch. I did take it with a lot of water, just like I always do, which I also threw up.

That's pretty much all of them!

Drinking with meals washes all the food from your pouch. I always go on liquids for 24 hours if I throw up. I really don't even mind going on liquids to rest my stoma and pouch. I always lose when I am back on liquids. -
I have not regretted getting the band once. It can be a real pain and sometimes rule your life though. Like this weekend, I went out of town and we ate in restaurants all weekend. It's tricky ordering from a menu when you don't know how your band is going to act that day. Some days you can eat something, the next time you try it, you might have trouble. I really don't care though. I sat and watched my kids eat McDonalds and had no desire to eat any of it. There wasn't anything on the menu that tempted me or that I felt was worth the trouble finding out if it would give me trouble.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Hey does anyone know how this board works? My mother in law was enjoying posting whenever she came over to use my computer. Now when she tries to log on, it says she has the wrong password. So she clicked where it said to have the password sent to her email address. Then they gave her a new password. She tried using that password, but it still said she had the wrong password. She likes to post in the over 60 thread. It seems like she is going to have to completely start over from scratch and re-register or something. I am down 50 lbs but I probably gained over the weekend. We went out of town. I ate a bunch of junk I haven't had in months. Back on the bandwagon tomorrow. -
So Wedall, do you just go to your subscribed posts, do you go to new posts, or how exactly do you find where you want to read LBT?

I am glad you got your package Lauren. It's too bad they have to make it so difficult for you!

A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been trying to get some new pictures taken. Even though I have lost 50 lbs. I still look really fat in pictures. I am going to have to lose a bunch more before I can get a decent picture. And it's not just my imagination. The people (friend and daughter) both agreed with me that I need to keep losing. It's depressing. I need to find a decent pose too. -
Such a lively thread. I am so tired of regular LBT. I know it's necessary for people to do their research when thinking about the band. How do you cruise the board? I usually go to new posts. But lately it's mostly people who are doing what they need to do, which is research the band. Where do people go who have the band and are just cruising along without problems go to get their daily dose of LBT?

I asked my son in law how people can get packages delivered if they are not home during delivery times. He said about 75% of people have things delivered to their work. They deliver to businesses during their open hours. Also, he said a lot of people will have it addressed to a neighbor or someone convenient for them to pick up their package. He also said you can leave a note on the door saying you won't be home and to leave it on your porch if you feel you live in a safe area. He said a lot of people do that too.

I have just been wondering if anyone else from Oregon is having Dr. Tersigni do their surgery. I was on Obesity Help just for kicks the other day, and couldn't believe not that many people know about him.

I've been having computer problems too. My son wants to wipe out my hard drive an reinstall windows. I hate to do it but it needs it. When he gets around to doing it, I would imagine I"ll be MIA for awhile. Sharon, I put myself back on the liquid diet for a few days when I needed to. It got rid of all the sugar in my system and all the cravings were gone. I did it for about 3 days, then the rest of the week I had protein drinks for breakfast and lunch and then a small dinner. It got me losing again, and broke the cycle.
