Wow, our thread is really moving today. It's such a fine line between having the correct fill and not being hungry, and having too tight of a fill and throwing up all the time. I just got a little bit taken out today. I didn't want to, but I can't live on protein drinks any longer. They say to go on liquids for 24 hours if you throw up, and I was on liquids more than I wasn't. Exercise is extremely important. I am getting a heart rate monitor. I finally got a trainer and he said that if you are exercising and not in the target heart rate, you'll be doing your heart a world of good, but not burning fat. Menopause truly does suck. That's why I got the band. I was exercising and dieting for 3 years and only gaining weight. Now even with the band, I can't lose unless I am exercising and only eating 800 calories per day.

A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't had any luck what so ever with E Harmony. It makes me feel like I must not be the least bit attractive. If you have full body shots on your profile, it would seem he knows what you look like. I just have a head shot, and I can't even get anyone to reply to me. I had a little bit of my fill taken out. It such a fine line between having the right fill so you aren't hungry and can lose weight, and being too tight and throwing up all the time. My dr. pretty much insisted today that I have a little bit taken out. I just hope he didn't take out very much because I want to keep losing! -
Okay, now that I have lost 55 lbs, I want to have some pictures taken for various reasons. My daughter and a good friend both have digital cameras. They have both taken tons of pictures of me. They all look horrible. I still look really fat. Okay, I am still fat. I am 5'2" and I still weigh 160 lbs. Is there a way to take a more flattering picture? Is outside better than inside? Is there a pose that looks sort of natural and not "look at me starring at the camera?" Do we have anyone here who likes to take pictures and can offer some advice to me?

What does proper restriction feel like???
Oregondaisy replied to AllnewMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know people who can't eat anything before 3:00. Personally, I would not want to be that tight. I am way tighter than I have ever been in my almost 10 months of banding. I can't eat the variety of foods that I used to be able to eat. My last fill was my 4th, and tomorrow I have a dr.'s appt. I am considering having some taken out. Every time food gets stuck you are supposed to go back to liquids for 24 hours. I have been on liquids this past month more than regular food. Some people say that if you have heartburn regularly, you are too tight. It's really hard to judge what is too tight for you. I know some people have lost most of their weight by doing mainly Protein drinks. I know I probably didn't answer your question. I am a slow loser, so I have to decide whether or not I want to eat , or I want to lose. I would say if you can't eat meat for dinner (remember you have to chew it until it's liquid) you are probably too tight. -
Do you think it's rude to correct another's grammar?
Oregondaisy replied to marnie723's topic in Rants & Raves
You do not have bad grammar though. Bad grammar goes through me like fingernails on the chalk board. Most people in this town that I live in have horrible grammar. I want to correct them, but I would drive myself insane if I corrected all of them. The one that kills me the most is "we was at the store yesterday" Luckily, all of my close friends were not born and raised here, so they speak correctly. -
it appears i've lost my motivation ...
Oregondaisy replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I completely agree with that. My son comes over and says "you have nothing to eat in this house" If he doesn't want cottage cheese, protein drinks, etc . then I guess he is right! I can't keep anything in the house, but I am lucky that I live alone. I usually will allow myself one sort of treat when I go to the grocery store, which isn't very often anymore. -
I started at 215 and wore a size 18-20. I am now 160 and I have pants that are 18 16 and 14 that all fit. I wear a large top so I am really happy about that. My main goal was to get out of the plus size dept. I am 5'2".

What is your favorite cliche expression that you wish you didn't use?
Oregondaisy replied to Chelle B's topic in Rants & Raves
I noticed people saying that "My bad" and that IS very strange. I hate it when my son talks like one of those gangster rappers, hardly pronouncing his words. -

it appears i've lost my motivation ...
Oregondaisy replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do you think that maybe a fill would help you? I tell some people that I had no willpower so I had it surgically implanted. I can't eat much garbage anymore without throwing up. I watched my entire family scarf down pizza, but I had no desire to eat it, because i have tried it before and it caused intense pain. Don't they call that diversion therapy?:cry -
How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sliming is when your mouth fills up with water or spit or whatever you want to call it, when food is trying to get through your band and things are not too happy inside. Pb stands for productive burp, but in my opinion, it's just a nice way to say throw up. I have had pbs where I did burp and a little food came with it. But I have also had all out puking. Normally you don't have any of these problems until you have a few fills. -
I took a lot of Vitamins and super B complex, Biotin, everything anyone suggested. I am almost at 10 months and my hair is still falling out. Do you think the sublingual B makes a difference? I should get some of that because it's so hard to take pills now.

Passing For Thin - Support Thread for Those Approaching Goal
Oregondaisy replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You're really lucky Julie! I know when I was in the 140's I wore a 12 or a 14. I wish I could have gotten the band in my 30's instead of my 50's. My face looks a lot more wrinkled now that I have lost weight. It makes me wonder how bad it's going to look when (or if) I lose anymore. -
Do you have any trouble getting these down? I have a bunch of pills I have to take and it's really hard to get them down.
-
You need a different doctor! My doctor hits it on the first time and it's over with in less than 30 seconds.

Left shoulder pain 5 mos post op
Oregondaisy replied to ChantayMarie71's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For some people, left shoulder pain is chronic. I know someone who had her band removed because of this. I don't get it really, but it has something to do with the band pressing on the diaphragm , but for some reason it's felt in the shoulder. I have been banded almost 10 months, and mine comes and goes. -

Julie, You are only 5'2"? That's the same height I am. I would probably wear a 14 at 148. I know some years ago, I weighed 135 and wore a size 12. I am really frustrated because I don't lose the way other people do. I have looked at some threads to see what others eat, and I would gain weight if I ate like that. I really can't lose unless I am around 800 calories. I had a resting metabolism test taken that showed I only burn 1,000 calories just breathing. I sometimes worry that I will not lose anymore. -

Audree, what have you been eating these days? Last time you checked in, you were thinking about another fill, but worried because you started to pb. I am just wondering what a typical day's eating is for you. I have such a slow metabolism, it drives me crazy. I am going to check out that link because I really don't know for my age, what I should weigh. -

Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sliming is when your mouth fills up with Water or spit or whatever you want to call it when food gets stuck and can't pass through your band. It's only recently that I have been having trouble. Before my 4th fill, I could eat whatever I wanted in smaller portions. The problem was that I stopped losing, so I got another fill. The more fill you have and the more restriction you get, there will be foods that give you trouble. Do a thread search on problem foods. If you are still in the decision making process, there are a lot of places on this board where you can read all about the band to educate yourself and find out what you will be dealing with once you get restriction. There are a lot of people who are happy with a lose band so they can eat more. I was really tired of not losing after I paid 10,000.00 out of pocket to lose weight. -

Chrispy, Can you eat vegetables that aren't cooked very well? One of the problems was that I had no idea what I was ordering, and the waitress couldn't speak English very well. I do have problems with vegetables now, unless they are cooked until they are done. I have read on the thread "what foods give you trouble" that a lot of people have trouble with veggies that aren't cooked well. -
How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's weird because I can have days where I eat meals without a problem. I have an appt. scheduled next week with my surgeon. I will talk to him about it then. I am going to stay on liquids for awhile. I think something has gotten me irritated in there. -
Hitting the Wall at 6 Months....

I hit a two month plateau about that time. It's very frustrating. I ended up doing liquids only for a week to break it. -

I am beginning to think I do need to have some out. I went to lunch a little bit ago and ordered soup and started sliming on soup. That is not a good thing. -
I haven't tried it but I know people who have and they say it made no difference.

I was overfilled at the beginning of Sept. He took some out then. I may have to have more out. I am going to go on liquids for a couple days and see if that helps. I just went to lunch and ordered soup and started sliming on soup so that is not a good thing.
