  1. The hard part is do we want to write and help these people, or do we just get so frustrated that we just ignore posts like that. I tend to answer at least one ridiculous question when I go to new posts. After that, I just click on the next post. Isn't Wendall's lap band 101 and 102 posted somewhere? We need to direct them to that.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

It seems to go both ways. And no, that's not a silly question. I got really constipated after surgery. Some people get constipated and some get the diarrhea.

    Poll zodiac sign

I am Scorpio with a Capricorn moon and Pisces rising. I love astrology.

    Should I have to

I agree with everyone else. You are such an inspiration! I know that my slow metabolism and age has to do with why I am not losing well. It makes me feel better to know that there are people who are very successful with the band.

    How often do you weigh?

I weigh every morning too. I really think it does make a difference in how I eat. I agree that it's a good reality check. A lot of times I weigh before I go to bed too. I know I am addicted to the scale. Weighing before I go to bed also tells me how I did that day.

Do you tell people you're banded?

Papaya enzyme tablets can help dissolve food that is stuck and won't go through the band.

    Pondering Fills

Because the band has a mind of it's own.
  9. This thread reminds me so much of the "thread killer" thread. That was one hilarious thread. As far as pb goes, I have pbed once. I burped and a little bit of food came up with the burp. The rest of the times, it's all out puking. I like band barfing better though.

    Self Pay Banding

I paid 10,000.00. There were some extra costs involved. I had to have a swallow test the next day, and the hospital charged 100 for that. I had to have an EKG and I can't even remember how much that was. I also had to have a psych eval and that was 75.00 My dr. charges 160.00 for fills, but I haven't had to pay for one yet.

Big Question about food getting stuck

I was just going to say the same thing. If you have only gotten stuck once, you're doing great. It's no fun and it teaches us to take the tiny itty bitty bites and chew them until there is nothing left to chew.
  12. I know several people who have lost massive amounts of weight without a fill. I know people who have their band filled to the max and still say they eat way too much in the evenings. ( The band is more open in the evenings) It is extremely different for everyone. The band seems to have a mind of it's own. There are days that I can eat a certain thing, and the next time I try it, it's a no-go. I think though that most people who have a 4 cc band find restriction at around 2.5 Do a thread search on how many ccs do you have in a 4cc band. That's a good thread.
  13. That's funny. The high school I went to in Chicago was Bogan H.S.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Yep! That's where I ordered it from! I wish it would hurry up and get here!
  15. One reason the band works is if you have a good fill, you can't eat bread, Pasta, rice, & pizza. You can try to eat that stuff, and it will get stuck, and cause pain. I call it aversion therapy. I can watch people eat pizza and not want it because the times I have tried to eat it, I spent a lot of time in pain, trying to get unstuck. You can eat chocolate, ice cream, and a lot of other junk. If you give in to sweet cravings, the band will not help that. If you cut out all the bad carbs that the band helps with though, the sweet cravings are extremely less.

    Anyone Else 5'1-5'2"??

Thank You!! I am not very big chested, so I really hated my tummy and belly sticking out like I was pregnant! The band is the most wonderful thing ever invented!

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I have heard that the Ungury protein drinks are really good. I have also heard that the body can not metabolize more than 25 grams of protein at a time. A lot of people really like Matrix too. I have a huge jug of something my daughter gave me after she had RNY. It's Myo Pro by EAS. I always have to add splenda to it. I ordered some dry peanut butter powder to put in it to jazz it up. I am actually getting tired of chocolate.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Yes, getting the hic ups is what we call a soft stop. It's basically what happens right before you throw up, if you keep eating.
  19. Oregondaisy

What does proper restriction feel like???

It does sound like you need to have some taken out. Remember if you throw up, you are supposed to go back on liquids. I knew I need some out because every time I would try to go back on solids, I would end up throwing up. I did have a little bit taken out today and I feel better.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

I think being single really helps with the band. I don't have to cook dinner for anyone and I can keep what I want in the house and not be tempted. I think everyone worries that they are making the right decision. I am thrilled to have lost weight, after all my attempts without the band. Just let us know if you have questions!

    Anyone Else 5'1-5'2"??

I have to say that the nicest thing about the 50 lbs that I have lost is that I have lost 6" in my waist. It's so nice now not to have my stomach stick out farther than my boobs!

    Is hair loss a given?

I was pretty excited in the shower this morning. I noticed a definite decrease in the amount of hair that came out. I will be at 10 months soon, and my dr. said it stopped at 9 months. I believe it was WasABubble butt that said it stopped at 10 months. All I know is I hope that it is decreasing. I have lost about 1/2 of my hair. Luckily, I had very thick hair. My big fear now is that it's going to come back gray.
  23. Sometimes that word is the only word that fits the situation! I used to crack up when my mom would call it the f word. Like saying "F word" is so much better than saying the whole word. I used to tell her, Mom, it's just a word.
