Was anyone banded in December of '06?

When I was stuck on a plateau, I went back on the liquid diet. The Protein powder that I used has 120 calories in it. I drank 3-4 of those per day and I started losing again. I am still not a fast loser. I have lost 10lbs since August. I see some weight gain coming this week. Thurs. is my birthday. Going out to dinner with friends thurs fri and sat nights. I am sure there will also be some birthday cake involved too. If I gain 5 lbs in one weekend, it will probably take me a month to lose it. I will do Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch those days so I can save my calories for dinner and make sure I do a lot of cardio on those days too. I will try to avoid it, but it seems to happen anyway if I go out to eat.

    High protein cereal

I love the Kashi cereals. I don't eat a whole cup though. I found out a long time ago, if I eat that before I work out, I don't get light headed, or dizzy, or nauseous the way I did if I had only protein for breakfast.

I don't understand (goal weight rant)

I just recently put up a ticker. I never had one before, because I never could decide on a goal weight. I am already unhappy with the amount of wrinkles on my face that have appeared since I have lost weight. My goal weight is high for two reasons. At my age, I don't think being 120 would be easy for me to maintain. If I kept aiming to be that low, I would be setting myself up for failure. I recently picked a goal weight that I think is actually possible. If I look like an old hag with wrinkles all over my face, if I drop 10 more lbs, I may be happy with 155 instead of 145. If I decide a face lift is in order, I will try to get down to a healthier bmi. My dr. says bmi isn't all that important, as long as you have low cholesterol, (which I do) don't have high blood pressure (I don't anymore) and you are exercising regularly. If I were in my 30's my goal weight would be completely different.
  4. I hadn't read that thread. It's unbelievable. Then they said "maybe I have an addictive personality" sheessh now where would you get an idea like that?!

    A thread for Single Bandsters

I really don't get that. He saw your pictures, so I don't get why surgery would make a difference. That's probably why I don't tell many people that I had surgery. I don't even have the nerve to post a full body shot on any of my online hook-up sites. I have been trying to have one taken, but I still think I look way fat if my whole body is showing in the picture. I just hate it that guys want Barbie dolls.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Manatee, You look great. I have to tell you that when you first started posting, I thought you were female. I think that was before you put something under your name. Congratulations on all your hard work. Chrispy, I am happy for you! I hope this one makes time for you. You seemed to really like Mike, but then said he was a work a holic. I am presently writing to 3 different guys from 3 differeent online sights. One from POF messaged me today where I actually have a picture posted. That really surprised me. He lives about 3 hours from here though. I don't much luck with the online thing, but we'll see how it goes.
  7. I am afraid right now that I am going to be going ahead on willpower rather than restriction. I had a defill last week, and I feel like he took out too much. I have to wait a few days before I will know for sure. I have to say for anyone new, it's a very fine line between having too much and having too little.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I really could not live without LBT. This is the only thing that keeps me going when the scale does not move for long periods of time. I usually go a couple of months where I lose nothing, and then I will lose 5 lbs and be stuck again for another couple of months. I am always glad to be able to maintain what I have lost and I know I am headed in the right direction. without the band, I am sure I would be much heavier by now.

    Snacks

Boo Boo, what kind of Protein bars do you like? I mainly buy the Atkins ones because they are lower in carbs. I never thought about heating one.
  10. I am computer illiterate and don't know how to make a link. If I did, I would direct them to the FAQ instead of explaining over and over what a pb and slime is.

    Which embarrasses you more?

I don't mind the people that notice my weight loss, but when they start asking if I had gastric bypass, I don't like that. My weight loss has been slow. There are a lot of people I don't see very often so it's a surprise to them. I tell them I have been going to the gym every day for over 3 years, so I guess it's finally paying off.

    Snacks

String cheese is a good snack. BBQ soy crisps are too, but you have to be careful. They are so good. I think you can have 20 for a 100 calories. They have protein in them too. They almost taste like BBQ potato chips.

    Big Medicine

Sherry, I had that exact same thing happen to me. It's pretty freaky so have stuff come up when you're sound asleep. When is Big Medicine coming back? I really miss that show!
  14. Can't we post something on the main home page about what a pb and a slime is? Those questions are in so many non related posts. It should be very clear and easy to find when people start their lap band exploration and log into labbandtalk.

    Let's start a mythbusters thread...

Wheestin, I think that's strange. I go to the gym and people of all ages and sizes use it. The brand they have there are Preecor. I wonder why that machine is giving you problems. Mine is kind of like walking and peddling at the same time.

    pbing or puking happening daily

You should go to the doctor and not feel ashamed. You didn't have the band put in to feel like this. Do you go on liquids after you throw up. Try going on liquid Protein shakes for a week and let everything settle down in there. You should not only lose weight, but you need to give everything a rest if you have been throwing up regularly. Otherwise, go to the dr. and tell him you must be too tight because you are throwing up a lot. You don't want to cause erosion which comes from too tight of a band for too long.

WASABB - I need your help & guidance!

I am so glad to hear you're eating a more varied diet. Yay! Don't you know you're supposed to be finished eating within 20 minutes. hee hee You're not following the band practitioner's rules, you bad girl

    Slow Losers - Unite!

If you are a slow loser, exercise is pretty essential.

    Let's start a mythbusters thread...

I hate that! There has been nothing easy about this what so ever. Being on liquids for 4 weeks after surgery was far from easy. Throwing up something that has never given me trouble before, and continuing to throw up for hours afterwards is certainly not easy either. I have sometimes said the band runs my life. Sometimes it does. It definitely is part of the decision as to what restaurant I choose when someone wants to go to dinner.
  20. Oregondaisy

    pbing or puking happening daily

You are risking complications such as a slip or erosion keeping your band too tight. If you are having trouble and throwing up regularly, stay on liquids. Do not try to drink anything for a few hours after you have thrown up so everything can rest inside. You are supposed to go on liquids for 24 hours if you throw up. If you can't afford an unfill, make sure you are doing everything you can to not throw up, because you will either end up losing your band later on down the road, or having another surgery to fix a slip.
  21. Solid protein is protein that is not mushy. Cottage cheese is mushy. So is chili. Solid protein would be chicken or something solid.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

I agree. It's way too soon to tell. You aren't on a normal eating plan yet, and you probably aren't exercising yet. If after six months, if you're eating right and exercising, then you can tell if you're a slow loser. I have gone for two months at a time and lost nothing. Then all of a sudden I will drop 5 lbs.

    Let's start a mythbusters thread...

I had a resting metabolic test at my doctor's office to find that out. I was hooked up to a computer, my nose was closed off with closepin like things, and I had to breathe in and out into a tube. It told me that just sitting around breathing, I burn 1000 calories. That was when I dropped my calories to 800 a day, even though I exercise. Do you really think those elliptikill machines are accurate when they tell us our heart rate and calories being burned? There are many machines at my gym and I use a different one all the time. I do the same thing all the time, alternating the resistance, and one machine will tell me one thing, and the other machine will tell me something different. I have concluded that they aren't accurate. My birthday is next week and I asked for a heart rate monitor. I want to be sure I am getting it up enough. Right now I take my pulse, but it's kind of hard to do while on the elliptikill or the stair master. It's not that hard to take it on the treadmill if I am walking not running.

Do you tell people you're banded?

I agree that it's a personal choice. I told the people I thought would be supportive and who I am really close to. The rest see that I have lost weight and I tell the truth but leave the band part out. I am making better food choices, eating smaller portions and exercising regularly.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

I've lost 55 lbs. I really don't know how much more I want to lose. I hate my face now that I have lost weight. I will be 55 next week, and I always enjoyed people saying I don't look my age. Now that I have lost weight, I have this turkey neck going on, and I see a lot more wrinkles in my face. I am afraid I am going to look like an old hag.
