    A thread for Single Bandsters

Way to go Dibaby! You to Chrispy. I had such high hopes with the guy I was communicating with on E harmony. I was very disappointed that he closed the communication. We seemed like we would have been a very good fit. It's very disappointing. I want to lose 15 more lbs and then I am sure I will have more confidence. I need to stay on track and get that last 15 off as soon as possible. I have been at 160 since the beginning of Sept. I think I need a fill, but I think I can do it with willpower.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

I gained 5 lbs over the weekend because it was my birthday. I went out to dinner with my kids on thurs. Then fri and sat and sun different friends took me out to dinner. Now I am up 5 lbs. I am going to drink protein drinks only this week and try to get it off. I seem to lose the best doing that. I don't want it to take a month to lose what I gained, like it usually does.

    Good restriction is ....

I am really sick of a lot of the things I read on here, not only the 1/4 c of food posts. I am sorry to hijack your post Jacqui. I read so many stupid things on some of the posts that it's getting harder for me to log onto LBT. This used to be my favorite part of the day, getting to read all the posts. I usually go to new posts but lately I am so frustrated when I read the new posts, I am trying to find a way to still come to LBT without pulling out my hair. (I've lost enough hair already!) Maybe I should just come to R& R and give up on all the rest. I feel bad, because when I was new, I had questions too. They ought to have a section that says New Bandsters Must Read, like they have one for Near Goal.

Is it ALL about the fills?????

That just depends on you. They say if you can eat a regular sized portions and aren't losing, you should get a fill. If you're losing with the fill you have, don't get one. A lot of it depends on exercise. A lot of people are unhappy with their weight loss, but they say they don't exercise. If you are exercising and happy with how you're losing, don't get a fill.

    Pay for the band! Poll!

Everyone who has insurance to pay for their band is so lucky. I paid 10,000.00 which I felt was close enough to the Mexico price that I wouldn't save much. I would have to pay for airfare and fills, because I couldn't see myself going back to Mexico for fills. I am very happy with my dr. He has been really good to me trying to help me find the perfect restriction.

    What am i doing wrong??

Yes, you are supposed to go on liquids for 24 hours if you throw up. When you throw up, things get swollen and aggravated inside and you need to give everything a rest.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

It's such a fine line between not having enough fill and being too tight. I had some taken out because I lived on soup for a month and I threw up if I tried anything solid even if I chewed well. I told him to just take a tiny bit out. Now I am back to being able to eat whatever I want, bread included. This is not a good thing. I was just in there to have some out, so now I am probably going to have to wait to get a fill because he is so booked up. I might just try to be really good and see if I can lose even though I don't have much restriction. I can stay away from bread, just because I know it doesn't promote weight loss. I am aggravated with this whole situation.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Chrispy I am so happy for you. You can just keep telling him that you watch your weight carefully and bread is fattening, until you're ready to tell him about the band. Missy, I hear ya about it gets lonely. April, I hope you have found someone that can be there with you for your surgery and bring you home. I was really happy because E Harmony sent me someone I was really interested in. We sent our questions back and forth a few times, then yesterday I get a message that he closed contact. He used the reason that he's just too busy in his life right now, but I find that hard to believe. I so want to lose the rest of my weight. My birthday was last thurs. I had some fill taken out a couple of weeks ago because I was so limited as to what I could eat. Now I am back to being able to eat whatever I want. I have gone out to dinner so much between my kids and my friends wanting to take me to birthday dinner, that I have gained 4 lbs. It's such a fine line between being too tight, and so loose that I can eat anything, bread included.

You've been at it one year...feedback?

I haven't had the band a year but close to it. I have had it almost 10 months now. The only time it was terrible was when I was overfilled. That was truly horrible. It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. I got my fill on a Fri and by Mon. I was there to get some out. The rest of the time, I love my band. I am not hungry anymore and that is a wonderful thing.

What do you do for you???

I have someone come and clean my house too. I do clean before she comes. She can't vacuum the floor if my clothes are all over the floor. The latest thing I have done for myself is hire a trainer. I love him. Well at least I love working out with him.

    stuck

When I was stuck I went back on the liquid diet. I thought it would be really hard and I would be starving but it wasn't at all. I lost 5 lbs in a week of doing protein shakes.

    Holy cow, WASa!

    No fair! You must share!
  13. I want to be a snow bird very badly. My parents started out as a snow birds spending winters in AZ and summers in Chicago. Eventually, they moved to AZ full time. I love AZ in the winter, but I could not handle too many months of it being too hot.

    I'm 35 today and down 50 pounds!

Hey you must have the same birthday as me! And we have lost just about the same amount of weight!
  15. I never have a Protein drink for Breakfast unless I am not going to go to the gym that morning. I feel nauseous if I don't have something more substantial before I do my cardio. I do have Protein drinks for dinner quite often. I do my eating in the morning, and after lunch until the next morning, I am not hungry.
  16. You sound like you are too tight to me. Why are you getting stuck after 3 bites. Is it because you are taking too big of bites or not chewing enough? If you are taking tiny bites, and chewing until it's liquid, and you still feel stuck after 3 bites, you are too tight.

    First Fill horror story!

I don't know what my doctor uses, but he gives me a little shot of something before he fills me. Then he pokes me for the fill but the entire process takes about 30 seconds.

For those that have been too tight....

It was horrible when I was over filled. I had to sleep sitting up. If I didn't, Water would come up in the middle of the night and I felt like I was drowning. Then I had some taken out, but apparently not enough. I kept thinking it would loosen up, but I got tired of living on Soup and Protein drinks. I had to sip a Protein Drink and wait for that sip go go down. I told him just to take out a tiny bit. It's such a fine line between over filled and just right. Now I feel like I can eat anything I want again.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Audree, What have you been eating these days. I have found I can't lose unless I do around 800 calories per day plus exercise. I have been drinking 120 cal. protein drinks for dinner. That seems to have gotten my weight loss going again.

Was anyone banded in December of '06?

Not me. I gain weight really easily. I have gained 5 lbs over a weekend of eating wrong several times. It never makes sense to me because supposedly it takes 3500 calories to gain a lb. I can gain a lb just from eating a bowl of ice cream. I have been trying really hard to keep my calories low in order to lose. If I go above 800 calories, I can't lose. I have such a slow metabolism. It really stinks.

    Anyone in Oregon??

I had my surgery by Dr. Tersigni. He charges 10,000.00 and that is so close to the Mexico price that I didn't think it was worth it to buy a plane ticket and have to fly home right after having surgery. He charges 160.00 for fills but you get 3 with the price of surgery. When you add up having to go back to Mexico for fills, or going to Kelly Fitzpatrick and having to pay for 3 fills, it seems me it evens out. Dr. Tersigni has been great to me. I think he's a wonderful doctor.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I have found it really difficult to find that illusive sweet spot. I was too tight and had a really hard time eating. So I had him take a little bit out. I found found that it's not an exact science as to how much he thinks he puts in or takes out since he does use the fluro. Now I can basically eat whatever I want again. I just try to eat as little as possible.
  23. Oregondaisy

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

You are getting your band on my birthday! I lost 22 lbs during the first four weeks that I was on the liquid protein diet. I don't know about anyone else, but that was when I lost the most weight.Once I moved back to food, it's been a struggle. I paid out of pocket though, so I think that is a big motivator to stick with it and eat what I am supposed to.
  24. I did 4 solid weeks of liquids post op, then 2 weeks of mushies. I confess that once during the last of the 4 weeks, I ate something off the mushy list. It was because of LBT! I read on here that many other people didn't have to do liquids for 4 weeks. I was losing so well on the liquid diet though, that I was actually afraid to eat and stop losing.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

A lot of having the band is strictly willpower. When I was tight enough to have real restriction, it was a problem. I hated that there were so many foods I had to give up. It's a very fine line between having restriction and being too tight.
