acid reflux after band to sleeve revision
Oregondaisy replied to silverwhitemoon's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I know a lot of people who have trouble with acid reflux and never had a band at all. Will your ins. pay for revision to by pass? -
Does anyone want to join in on a chat night?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
What time zone is everyone in? 6pm would be good for me but that's 9 on the east coast? I can open chat up at 6 pm but if anyone gets there earlier feel free to click on chat and see if you can leave it open til someone else joins in. There used to be a door bell sound when someone enters that chat room. it really helps if you get to doing something else to hear that sound and know that someone has shown up to chat. I'll be there pacific time at 6 pm. -
New relationship after sleeve surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Nikki Monroe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Most people don't know I had surgery. I've had a few relationships since I've been sleeved 7 years. I've always told the guy I am a relationship with, but I wait until I know we are going to be eating meals together frequently. I've never had anyone react in a negative way. I tell them I lost 100 lbs and they always say they are glad I did it because they don't know if we would have started dating if I was 100 lbs more than I am now . -

Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I hope we get more interest too. Even if it's 3 people, that's a start. What time would be good for you? 5 is early for me, but i wanted to be considerate of the time zone. 7 would be great for me, but that's 10 on the east coast. I'll work with people who want to chat, to find a time that is right for them. -
Can someone explain PB powder, how you use it, benefits, etc?
Oregondaisy replied to LisaMergs's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I like the chocolate flavor PB powder. I put it in my protein shakes, but I really do like to just eat a spoonful. It's much tastier than regular without chocolate. -

Thank you so much mngreeneyes! I really enjoyed reading that article. -
I really wanted to give up on online dating since mostly hicks live in this town. I always get guys that want to take me fishing and hunting. I rejoined Match and changed my pictures and profile. A guy popped up whom I had not seen before. Match has a way to live chat so we started messaging back and forth. He's apparently been lurking but finally joined on their 7 day free trial. He said he's seen my pictures before and wanted to write before but really wanted to hold it under 60. I am glad he messaged me because after chatting back and forth off and on all day Sunday, he finally suggested dinner. We really hit it off and I was amazed at how sweet and considerate he is. We talked at the table forever and then he asked if we could go to the beach and go hiking on Monday. Well that date lasted all day long and we were both kind of giddy about each other. I am nervous cause he's only 55 and I am 63. I would have never messaged him. This morning he called and said he was deleting his match profile and hoped I would too. I did hide it instead of deleting it, cause I am not as optimistic as he is. I'd like to be, but I've been doing this awhile and something always turns out to be different than I thought. I guess I am hopeful though! I know I loved being with him all day yesterday all day and into the evening!

How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sheryl, what's going on? I know it's only Cathy and me but if you don't want to put it out there on one of the venus and mars boards or the other single boards, (unless it's not a dating issue) we can sure offer our opinions. I'm going to see Mr. Erectile dysfunction tomorrow. I am excited to get out of town into the country. He lives in an itty bitty town, smaller than mine, right along a river. I know it's going to be beautiful. We are going to do some hiking and who knows what else. I know it will be at least 15 degrees warmer than here, so I am excited. I am tired of 65 degree days. -
Maintaining for some people is easier for some and hard for others. It's hard for me. I have to watch what I eat very carefully or I will gain weight back. I also have to exercise or I gain as well.

Vets! Looking for advice I am 11 months out
Oregondaisy replied to smallbmi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 7 years out and I gain weight very easily. I had a resting metobolic test taken at a bariatric surgeon's office done twice. You can't have exercised for 48 hours before and you go straight out of bed without eating or drinking. You get hooked up to a machine with your nose closed with a close pin like thing. Then you breathe in and out of your mouth for 20 min or so that's hooked up to a computer. It spits out how many calories you burn per day resting, without exercise. Mine is 1200 calories. -
If this wasn't so pathetic it would be hilarious
Oregondaisy replied to Sharon1964's topic in The Lounge
Yeah, we'll see what happens. He's a pretty outdoorsy guy, and has a boat he sleeps on when he takes it out. I can see us having some fun, but we're probably not a match for what he's looking for. I do admire his guts. He could have said it a little more tactfully though. I guess he wanted to use the complete medical terminology. -

That was the whole thing. It was extremely awkward, but I did my giggling inside. I've had guys tell me that before, not in those exact words though. I've never had one tell me the very first time we were meeting though! -

This guy messaged me on POF. I had my profile hidden for most of this time, but I unhid it for a weekend. We hit it off really well, as far as our personalities go. He was funny and I enjoyed our conversation. We went to lunch, then we went to the beach and walked and talked for awhile . Then we went back to my car. There was a picnic table outside the restaurant where my car was parked. We sat at the picnic table for quite awhile longer. He was funny and interesting. We were talking at this picnic table, and he told me he really liked me and wanted to see me again. Then he said he wanted to lay all his cards on the table and said "I have erectile dysfunction!" I don't know why I wanted to die laughing but I just told him a lot of guys his age have that. I also got an email from him saying he can't wait to see me again. I'm still laughing. Talk about being blunt. -
Stupid Choices = Stupid Outcome
Oregondaisy replied to Sharon1964's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am wondering if people mind sharing which medication they take. I haven't been able to find one I can take without terrible side effects. They make me feel like I am on speed-like I stuck my finger in a light socket and I just shake. I need one. I am depressed and have been for a long time but Trazadone gives me terrible headaches, and every SSRI I have tried has given me the shakes, nausea, headaches, make me sweat profusely, and cause insomnia. -

How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry Cathy. I am getting to that age that losing friends is in the future and I can't even imagine losing more. I just lost one to Hep C. She died from liver cancer. I just pray my Hep C doesn't not go in that direction. Cancer is so horrible. I really feel like they could find more cures if they weren't so worried about giving up cancer research money. Again, I'm sorry. I know you will really miss your SIL. -

All I can tell you is that at for me at 7 years, it has never gotten easier. It depends on what your trigger food is. For me it's sweets. I try my best to stay away from them but they are everywhere. Other people have a really hard time giving up bread. Whatever it is, it's something you'll be working on for the rest of your life. Some people are really lucky, and their tastes for certain foods change. Usually though, they find some replacement food they now have to stay away from . Plus I can eat quite a big more than I could at 2 years. We don't have regular bodies with regular metabolisms. -
My first glass of wine was outstanding, then.......
Oregondaisy replied to Djmohr's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Dumping Syndrome does not last as long as you are describing. I am with the others on the fact that you picked up some sort of virus. If you have wine, it's good to have some protein with it, like cheese. -
I did 5:2 and did very well with it for a long time. Then on my non fast days, i started having too many calories. I don't go anywhere on Mon. and Thurs. so there are no temptations. My problem is socializing and there is always food around. I seem to have lost all my willpower. I can't seem to pass up goodies. i am with you guys cause i have to get off around 15 lbs so my clothes will fit. I have squired this stomach an belly that stick out of all my clothes. I uses to be flat in the stomach and belly and I loved it. I had back surgery . there is no way I can run. I do strength /weight training at the gym and I love it. I have to force myself to do cardio. My trainer recently quit so I need motivation again. I welcome all advice. After 7years of being sleeved, my hunger has come back and that doesn't help at all.

Let's talk about Reactive Hypoglycemia
Oregondaisy replied to Wallflower7522's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I don't know if it's the same thing but I get really sick and sweaty and my heart races. I feel totally nauseous. I found what gets me out of it is a small amounts of Protein. I eat a cheese stick or something similar or a few sips of a Protein Drink. I think RNY people get it more often that sleeve people but I never know what's going to cause it. I ate kettle corn and got really sick like this, but I've eaten kettle corn before without a problem. -

I have to force myself to exercise now too. I think it's because of Netflix. I'd rather just sit and binge watch some series. I saw in one of your posts Sheryl that you said you love Michael. You've always told us it's hard for you to love so I was happy to read that! I can't drink because of Hep C so that's one empty calorie problem I don't have. However, last night, at the bar, it was one of the bartender's birthday and there was a huge chocolate cake. I couldn't resist it. It was so good. Like I said, temptations everywhere and no willpower. I danced with the same guy the whole night but he didn't ask for my phone number. I think he acted a little slow and said he had a heart attack and was left with memory loss from being in a coma. So I guess, no great loss there. -

Are you wanting to gain a little back? You will gain naturally farther on down the road. If you want to gain weight now, are you eating nuts? You need to add good carbs back into your diet, higher carb veggies and some higher fats, like nuts and avocados. They are also a good fat. -
How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Moving to Portland would be a really big ordeal. For one thing, houses are much more expensive there. It's so spread out. it would be difficult for me to buy a house near my son, where houses are really expensive. If I bought a house in one of the less expensive areas, I would be about an hour's drive to my son's house. My daughter lives here and will never be able to move bc she shares custody of her son and her divorce states she can't move more than 50 miles. It's a great place to raise kids, cause you're too tired to have any night life. -

I'm sorry I haven't been posting. I don't want us to lose this little group either. I wish Kim would post. maybe her husband taking his trip without her has gotten her down. I hope not. I just get depressed because my life just sucks. I have wonderful friends, but they are in Portland more and more too because their kids and grandkids live there too. I wish I had moved there when I moved from Chicago years ago. I need more single friends who want to go and do fun things. I hear about things, but I won't go alone. The majority of my friends are married couples. I am depressed about my weight too, so I am right there with you Cathy and Sheryl. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get down a few lbs. There are just temptations everywhere, and I don't seem to have any willpower anymore. Also, I can eat more. The other day I was really appalled that I ate 2 pieces of pizza. I have never been able to eat more than one piece. I was doing well with my new trainer at the gym, but he told me he quit and is going to the other side of the state where he's been offered a job as a trainer at a much better gym . Sheryl, I did copy and paste the directions for posting a picture. I have never known how to do it! Now the directions are somewhere I can find them, instead of trying to remember which post they are on. -
Carbs cause gas. It was explained to me that it's undigested sugar. Sugar really gives me gas. If I eat a cookie, I know I'll be tooting in an hour.
