Where are my fellow Oregonians?
Oregondaisy replied to sweethinkr's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there! Yes the Pre is quite an event here. Where did you have your surgery? I can't believe how many people drive from really far away to go to Dr. Tersigni. I just found out he is raising his prices after the first of the year. I find that very disappointing. I had a feeling that would be coming now that he got approved to be a "center of excellence" -
Do you ever get frustrated with band babies?
Oregondaisy replied to TamifromAL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't even believe that I haven't had rice, Pasta, a sub sandwich in almost a year. Yes, I have had pizza, but boy did I pay. I was throwing up for 2 hours. It sure makes me not want to try it again. So yes, the band does help with carbs that I could cheat with when I was doing Atkins. -

Very well said, Jacqui. Sometimes I will answer something that has been answered over and over again. Sometimes, I am just not in the mood. I really think that they should make that Frequently Asked Questions in BOLD so that it's very apparent on the main page. That and Wendall's lap band 101 and 102. The questions that bothers us most are questions regarding going against their doctor's post op diet. They barely had the surgery and want to know if they hurt their band because they ate something while they are supposed to be HEALING. -
How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks so much for your words of encouragement, Green. I am my own worse enemy. I can do really well, as long as I am not around sugar. I have a friend that has a candy bowl in every corner of her house. Plus she loves to bake. I need to only see her in public, but going to her house and hanging out is a hard habit to break. I need to visualize the scale moving up when I look at that candy bowl. -
My first official R&R...Bandsters who dont know a damn thing about banding
Oregondaisy replied to wrk-n-prgrss's topic in Rants & Raves
I did that too. My friend really wants her daughter to get banded. I talked to the daughter and told her that she would not be able to eat the things she loved to eat the most. Pizza and bread. This teenager lives on pizza and bread. -

I guess I really need that fill. I eat 10 almonds because it's supposed to be 100 calories. It's all I can do to stop myself and not eat the entire 6lb bag. -

My daughter is pregnant and eats about a jar of pickles every day. I am going to tell her to dip it in lemon yogurt and find out how disgusting or delicious this really is. -
My advise is to try going back on the liquid diet. That's the only way I can get losing again. It's hard the first day, but after that, it gets easier and the scale starts moving. You have to figure out how many calories it takes for your body to lose. For me it's 800. If I eat food, once I get started, I can't keep it to 800. I can drink 3-4 protein shakes a day and not be hungry and that will get me losing again.

I find it impossible. I am either too tight or too loose. The last time I saw the dr. I had him take some out. I told him to just take out a tiny bit. I went from throwing up constantly to exactly the opposite. Now I can eat anything I want, bread, pizza, etc. I have to choose not to eat those things. The main thing is I eat dinner between 5-6 and around 8:00 I am really hungry and I don't want to eat at night. I hope this time I get the right amount. Enough for restriction but not puking every day.

Related Costs Estimates for Us Selfpay
Oregondaisy replied to Chiquita's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have crumby insurance that I pay for myself. It pays for office visits but any lab work falls under the $1,000.00 deductible. There is a special exclusion for weight loss surgery that says "no weight loss surgery of any kind is covered." My lab work did go towards my deductible, for all the good that did me. -

Okay, I saw Wasa posting on another thread. Why isn't she here having fun with us??? I have never heard of any of that stuff you have talked about getting fried. Fried pickles? Now that is just wrong. -

If they are still doing it the same way, you will get three fills with the price of your surgery. After that, they are 160.00. I haven't heard that the price changed. I plan to call Monday to see if they can get me on a cancellation list, so I will ask if you still get 3 with the 10 grand and how much they are after that. I paid for it all myself too. -

How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so original, my sign in name is Denise. I didn't like the idea of being called anything but my name. I wish I would get back to losing. I have been the same weight for 2 months now. up and down up and down, but can't get below 160. -
i have tree frogs all over my yard. My son dropped a bucket of tad poles in this little creek I have behind my house. When it's raining really hard, they get all over my glass sliding patio door. I have to be careful when I open the door to take my dog out, so I don't smash them. I have had them come in the house several times. They are hard to catch to put back outside.

Where in the heck is WASa??? Did she go to Mexico?? I don't know how to make sparkly things. I am lucky I figured out how to make a tickler. I love Rants n Raves. I don't have any feelings one way or the other about what is said in here, and the second I read a post, it's out of my head on to the next post. Okay ladies, post on! -

I can't wait to get my fill. It just doesn't seem right that I can eat pizza with no trouble what so ever. I had 2 pieces today. I made sure it was cheese pizza and I counted the calories and worked out very hard this morning. I just can't resist when my friends want to take me to lunch. I am still scared to get on the scale tomorrow. It's so weird to me that just a few weeks ago, I could barely drink a protein drink, and what was supposed to be a slight unfill, and now I can eat pizza. not making me happy. -

I agree with going back on liquids. If I do that for even one day, the cravings stop. I plan to do at least a week of liquids only starting on Monday. Somehow if I tell myself I am on liquids, I don't seem to want to break that rule I have made for myself. -
Looking for info about Dr. Tersigni in Oregon
Oregondaisy replied to Jen_Gilly's topic in The Lounge
Hi there, I sent you a private message. Let me know if you have any other questions. Dr. T just came to our last support group meeting this past tuesday, and he didn't say anything about the price changing. I paid $10,000.00 I asked if the price was going to go up now that they are a center of excellence and they said no. -

I agree with Tami. We don't mind questions as long as they aren't questions about going against their doctor's post op diet and eating right after surgery after being told they need to heal. I get tired of people answering what a PB when they can go to definitions and what they mean which is right on the main page. -
A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Manateee, I think you should just tell her the truth. Tell her you're shy, and that you haven't been divorced all that long. Tell her you wanted some space after the divorce to get it together before you started dating again. I think she will think you are sweet for not trying to make moves on her. April, glad you're back and feeling a little better. Ashley, I don't have anyone to date The couple of dates I did go on, I didn't tell. Maybe you could talk about ways to avoid telling until you're ready to tell. I just said I wasn't very hungry cause I had a late lunch. I ordered soup because I was nervous and I sure didn't want to throw up on my date. -
Frustrated - lost my restriction....
Oregondaisy replied to adorable's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had that happen to me once. They pull out what you have in there, then add more. I think there is a way to lose contact with the port or something. I called after a couple of days and told them I felt like I had no fill at all. I went in, he pulled the needle back, and sure enough, I had no saline. I am going for another fill in Dec. and I am afraid the same thing is going to happen. My doctor could not figure out how I lost all my fill. I didn't have a leak, because he filled me way up thinking I had a leak, and I had to go back for a defill right away because I was way too tight. -
What do they do, exercise all day and all night? I just don't get how they can pull such big numbers week after week. I want in on that!

I am very computer illiterate. Do you have to hook this up to your computer to see results? I am not good with gadgets. When they talk about computer software, it starts sounding complicated to me.
