Do you ever get frustrated with band babies?
Oregondaisy replied to TamifromAL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would hope that I am one of those people. I try to explain things as best as I can. I will click on a post and see if anyone else has answered the question. If not, I try to answer. -
I am going to try some of that Activia. Miralax is a laxative. My dr. told me it was safe to take, but I don't want to be taking laxatives every day. I like the Benefiber. It does work, but it gives me gas. It's embarrassing. I will put it in water in the evenings when I know I am not going anywhere.

I put benefiber in all sorts of stuff. It's not gritty and it works like a charm. I agree with Jacqui. Our bodies need fruits and veggies. I don't want to end up with colon cancer. I also eat fiber one Cereal. Sometimes I put it in yogurt. That and Kashi cereal have very high fiber content. They are whole grain so they are considered good carbs.

i need help..kicking the sugar habit!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree totally. Once I get the carbs out of my system, I have no desire to eat them. Carbs are the enemy. They are like an alcoholic with a drink. One is never enough. Once you eat them, you crave more. -
OK-- so how are you dealing with...
Oregondaisy replied to CallMeJim's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't really know what the stats are that you are asking for. It really goes by the doctor, not by banding itself. Doctors can put a band on that's actually too small to begin with, or not place it right. These things cause problems. Being too tight and and throwing up is one of the main things that cause problems. I was too tight for one weekend. I got a fill on a fri and went in Mon to have some taken out. It was horrible. There are people who can barely get Water to stay down, and don't go and get some taken out because they are losing weight. That's just asking for trouble. -
I agree. I think this thread should just die. Those of us who have had our bands for awhile now don't feel superior. We really do want everyone to succeed with their weight loss. Most of all, we want everyone to follow their doctor's advice and not try to eat when they are supposed to be on a post op diet. If their doctor didn't give them good instructions, and they come here for advice, we don't mind giving it. We do mind when they ask for our advice but then still want to do things that are known to cause problems.

If your doctor has a very low rate of complications, and you follow the rules, you won't have problems. It's people who are filled too tight, and throw up constantly that run into problems. Some people thing being too tight helps them lose weight faster, but they are taking a big risk for complications. -
It's best to cut meat up into tiny itty bitty pieces before you even start to eat. Take a bite, chew it very very well then wait and see if you feel it getting stuck. Then take another bite chew very well, etc. If you're getting stuck, stop eating immediately. If you have food in your mouth, spit it out!

what does sweet spot feel like????
Oregondaisy replied to shoregirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's a a very fine line between the sweet spot, and being overfilled. The sweet spot can change. When you lose weight, you're also losing fat around the stomach. That makes the band looser. The sweet spot is when you fill up on a small amount of food, and aren't hungry for several hours. -
Where are my fellow Oregonians?
Oregondaisy replied to sweethinkr's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jack, are you calling Coos Bay the jaws of hell? Not that I care. It really is the pitts living here. And what does OV stand for? I know there are a lot of people who have had their surgery in Portland, I am just not sure if they will take on someone who had their surgery in Mexico. -
Well said, Green! No matter how long ago I got my band, I will never feel superior. I feel like an idiot most of the time. I am just happy that they invented the band. I am just like you. I keep thinking something is going to go wrong, and it will all be taken away from me. I have boxes and boxes of clothes that I am afraid to get rid of. I probably never will. I need them to remind where I came from .

His bladder must have been ready to explode. That explains a lot. I knew they had to exercise for hours to lose so much in a week. I think I am doing so well if I do an hour of cardio. One of these weekends, I am going to try to do more than an hour. I am so bored on the weekends, it's easy for me to want to stay at the gym. Maybe if I ever get down to goal, I will feel more confident and actually have a date on a weekend.

Kelly Fitzpatrick does fills but I think she is a nurse practitioner. She is in Portland. A lot of people from Portland go to my doctor. He's good about seeing people who got their surgeries in Mexico. It's 4 hours though. Maybe Jack knows someone closer for you. -
That amazes me for some reason. Thank God someone invented the internet!

There was a big long thread about this. All the people who were at goal and have been for awhile still think of themselves as fat. I hope when I get to goal, I will feel like I really am at goal. Right now, I have an attic full of clothes that don't fit me because I feel like it's all going to be taken away from me. The band is too good to be true.

Please join me in stamping out Christmas. I am all for celebrating the birth of Jesus but I think that hardly anyone is celebrating that anymore. It's the all mighty dollar so the stores can make a big profit for the year. Okay, end of rant.

So is it tomorrow there? It's tuesday night here. Are you ahead of us? I would think you wouldn't be only 5 hours behind us.

All unwanted pain medications must be sent to Denise. It's some sort of law here in Oregon:rolleyes It sounds like you need back surgery. So do I. I am putting it off as long as I can though. I am going to have disc replacement instead of a fusion though. I have a friend that had it done and said he hasn't felt this good in years. His recovery was quite easy as well.

I am a Christmas hater. My kids get so mad at me. I wish it was like Leap Year and we only had to do it every 4 years. My daughter is pregnant and due in April so maybe having a little kid in the family will make me not hate it. I doubt it though. We discussed this in another thread. I think it was Laurend that said Christmas music makes her want to stab herself in the ear drums. I totally agree!

Right now I need a fill and I can eat anything I want. this is not a good thing. The other thread on this I believe is called which foods give you trouble

No! That's horrible. I hate green. Yuk. What time is it there down under? I have no idea how much of a time change there is between us? Just curious........

Skany Evil Repulsive Patient Coordinators

Keep up the good work! Maybe you can put them out of business! -
Pb stands for productive burp. It's just a bandster way of saying puking. I have pbed once. I burped and a little food came with it. I have puked way more times where it lasted hours. I haven't done that in awhile though cause I got some fill taken out. In the middle of Dec. I am getting a fill because I want to go back to not being hungry. It was wonderful. Have any of you tried cottage cheese and yogurt mixed together? It's really good and goes down well. I even have to chew cottage cheese though.

Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to vbaum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wonder why mine comes and goes. I can go weeks without it, and for no reason, it comes back for a few days. It's very strange. Right now it's gone and I am glad. I am sure it will be back though. It always comes back.
