How is weight loss for people over 50?

I've been carb free since Monday and I can really tell the difference. Oh I guess almost carb free- I had an apple last night. My cravings are gone and I am not as hungry. I really want to lose weight in Dec. and not gain weight. I am really tired of being on this plateau. I can't lose weight unless I eat around 800 calories per day. Once I get all the carbs out of my system, it's not all that hard.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I think you have it covered. I have heard unjury is one of the best Protein powders. I have never tried it, but everyone on here seems to rave about it. Keep us posted on how you're feeling! Best of luck. I am sure everything will go smoothly for you. I think most of us with the lower bmi's to start with, had a fairly easy recovery. Personally, I would never have known I had surgery, if I didn't have the little marks on my tummy!

Nina, you're lucky. Having restriction is a great thing. I miss it. I am getting another fill on the 12th and it can't get here soon enough.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

:help:I have never wanted huge boobies, but it would be nice to have something left, when I am down to goal. At this rate, I will be back to an A cup.

How is weight loss for people over 50?

I am currently struggling a lot with head hunger. I want that last 15 lbs gone and I know what I need to do, but it's been hard to not eat the wrong things. I am glad I am getting a fill soon. Maybe if I had that full feeling that a fill gives me, I won't feel like snacking so much.
  6. I wish I had an answer for you. I am not a medical person, but maybe one of the gals with medical knowledge will come in and answer you. I used nuskin over my incisions but I wouldn't do that if it's oozing anything in case of an infection. Have you called your doctor?

    The worst of all complications

I am so sorry for your loss. I am a widow too I know how painful it must be to have lost your husband. I am glad this test is standard after surgery with my dr.

I am not sure about a website, but there are books all over the place that have carb counters. You could order this great book online, Author Corinne Netzer The complete book of food counts. It has fat grams, calories, carbs, cholesterol, Protein ,fiber-everything you need! There are usually little pocket sized carb counters at check stands in the grocery stores. I am sure if you googles Atkins, you could find their website too.

    Who's ALREADY sick of xmas?

Maybe if I liked shopping, I would be able to handle Christmas. I hate shopping, and I hate trying to think of things to give people. Then there is my dad, who gives me $100 Walmart gift card, and I asked him what he wanted for Christmas, and he said $100 Walmart gift card. Now if that's not ridiculous, I don't know what is. There are sometimes people I like to shop for and like to see them open my gift, but the majority, it's just an obligation that I hate.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Manatee, I know people have to find someone they are attracted to. Do you think you can tell completely if you're attracted to someone by a picture? I have met people ( not in the dating world necessarily) that I wasn't attracted to, but after I got to know them, something about them made them move attractive to me. BTW, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way you look now.

Sorry, but I am just completely fed up. The E Harmony is supposed to match people up so their personalities match. Apparently, the only thing that matters really is looks.

    OVERWHELMED January Bandster!

I can't believe they will keep you in the hospital for 2 days. I had mine done in day surgery and was home in 3 hours. Can you talk to your doctor and tell him that you are a self pay and can't afford a long hospital stay? It really isn't necessary to stay in the hospital that long, in my opinion.

    A Problem

The good thing is as you lose fat around your stomach, the band will get looser. A lot of people have trouble early in the day, but in the evening their band is looser. Lap Band Talk is a wealth of information. Just keep asking questions and you'll find the answers here.

The South Beach diet is the best way to work your band. If you eat Protein and only good carbs, you'll have the most success with weight loss.

I think I am doing something wrong.

Yes, tell us how much you are exercising. Are you doing hard cardio? What are you eating? If you're eating very many carbs, that could be your downfall. When my weight loss stalls, I go back on Protein drinks. 4 Protein Drinks per day and I can lose 5 -7 lbs in a week. It's hard the first day, but after that, I like it. I don't have to think about what to eat.

    Who's ALREADY sick of xmas?

Yay! Fellow Christmas haters! I love it. I start hating Christmas around my birthday. My birthday is 10-25 Then I start thinking oh no it's only two more months until fa la la season. I love Lauren's quote and I have been using it often. Christmas music makes me want to stab my ear drums. I get grinches for Christmas every year. My daughter gets so mad at me for being a Christmas hater. I try for a few days to get into the spirit, but it's nearly impossible. I have been saying for years it ought to be like Leap Year. Once every four years would be plenty of Christmas.

    Kicking the addiction...

I think fast forwarding through commercials is a great idea. I love my Tivo so I can do that. Lap Band talk is my savior. I am addicted to sweets. It's like some crazy person comes out of me after a few days of being good. The crazy person wants sugar and wants it now! I don't keep anything in the house and that helps. I have almost stopped socializing with one of my best friends because every time I go over to her house, there are freshly baked Cookies, brownies, etc. I have absolutely no will power if I see sweets.

    Suggestion......

You should probably send a private message to Alexandra so she makes sure to see this. Only moderators can make changes. I think that these are good ideas!

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Audree, I love weight training and my trainer. I lost 4 inches on my thighs and 6 on my waist from exercise, not the band. My legs have a lot of muscle in them and for the first time in my life, my thighs don't stick out farther than my hips. I am glad I have gotten addicted to exercise. I feel really guilty when I don't go. It's so cool that your husband is going with you!
  22. Well I went out of town for one day and look at all I missed! We ought to meet in the chat room here sometime! Chickie, I would kill to look like you! You Rock! I have learned to love exercise, but it doesn't do anything unless I learn to hate chocolate. It seems I can only go so many days before I just have to have it. Hello, I am a chocoholic, and my name is Denise .I wish that stuff had never been invented. This is a horrible season. My boss is a baker, besides being an attorney. If I leave my desk I am in trouble. Last week I covered up the brownies with a paper towel so I didn't have to see them on the counter. :whoo:I need a fill!

    Please HELP!

You absolutely need to go in and get some taken out. You are too tight. That is the danger about going to a doctor that is far away. I was filled too tight like you are describing. My dr. is 5 min from my house. I was so miserable. I got the fill on a Fri and Mon I went in and had him take some out. Get somebody to do an unfill as soon as possible. You are risking all kinds of complications with being overfilled. I hope you can find someone as fast as possible to do an unfill.
  24. Gotta go and watch KidNation now. Some of those kids are more mature than I am. I am still a kid in an overgrown but getting smaller body
  25. That's funny Lauren. I remember reading so many posts by you and realizing that you hadn't gotten your band yet. You must be an inbetweenie
