I got my son in law a TomTom for Christmas. I don't know what the difference is. I don't know why he wanted that rather than the Garmin. My son has the Garmin. We go to visit my dad in Arizona all the time and it was really handy to get us around finding places. Once it took us on a wild goose chase. My future daughter in law wanted to try on wedding dresses. We live in a really small town here in Oregon, so she was really excited to go to a real city. The Garmin kept telling us weird things like to make a U turn, go through a parking lot, drive 4 blocks, make another U turn. It was crazy. For the most part though, it was a giant help compared to all the other times we go to Phoenix and get lost.

Congratulations everyone who is so close to goal. I am 10 lbs from goal. I thought I would never see this weight again. Now I know it really is possible with the band! I love bandland!

I certainly don't think of myself as a vet, even though I seem to spend the majority of my life on this board. I love this board. Even if there are people that disagree with each other, it's still the best board around. Most of the disagreements are in rants and raves, and I still think people are supportive everywhere else on the board. That is unless someone is asking if it's okay to do something that is highly not recommended for bandsters, like eating too soon after surgery.

I doubt seriously that WasA would leave this board completely and not tell me. I just sent her a pm. A newbie asked me where to get Isopure. she always knows the cheapest place to get stuff. She may have gone to Mexico. She goes there a lot. I saw on another thread that the last time she posted was yesterday. She is not gone.

I remember being so frustrated that people were sick of listening to me. Then I figured out that I don't lose like other people do. I go on long plateaus. I will go a couple of months and not lose. If I get into that old thinking "I am not losing, so I might as well eat (insert anything bad and sweet) then I certainly will not lose. If I keep paying attention to everything I eat, and make sure it's good protein, veggies and some fruit, after my plateau, I drop 5 lbs. My weight loss is not steady, x amount of lbs each week. I call myself a chunk loser. I don't lose, and all of a sudden I lose a chunk.

Yea, I dug some stuff out of the attic that I never got rid of that I have been able to put to good use. Congratulations on being so close to goal. You really are already there. I have seen your pictures on your support thread and I would KILL to look like you!

Exercise is the key. You will find most people who have successfully gotten to goal, or lost a lot of weight, say they exercise almost every day. some say they exercise at least 5 days per week. Sounds like you do have a lot of stress in your life. :whoo: I go to the gym when I feel stressed out. It helps a lot.

Did either of you drink before you were banded?

I have more to lose. I hope I am able to take some more off. I am a slow loser with a slow metabolism. I have high hopes that during this next year, I will continue to drop a little at a time. -
this is gross- so if you are easily offended do not read-i have had "minor" complicat

I can only guess that there is something wrong in the port area, and the port needs to be replaced for one reason or another. -
My Rant before a break (Strong Words so enter at own Risk)

Well I have officially had my band for a year now. Don't know what that means. I don't feel like an oldie, that's for sure. And I certainly have no idea who the pussy posse is. I am not sure why WasA is a bad guy or considered to be a bad guy. I think she is very knowledgeable. -
I wish I had gotten the band years ago. It would be so much fun to be young and not obese. There is no way to tell if you'll be able to lose without exercising and watching what you eat. For some, the weight does fall off much easier than for others. Your age is a plus. Younger people lose weight easier than us middle aged people. Men lose weight easier than women. So you have those 2 things going for you.
-
You are close to my age. I had a little bit more to lose than you want to lose. My advice is just be patient. It gets frustrating and hard when the scale doesn't move for awhile. I sometimes went months and the scale didn't move. Then all of a sudden, I would drop 5 lbs. The best thing is, the band is still there, and I can keep losing at whatever pace it wants to come off, if I follow the rules.

I have no clue how to flirt. I need to learn how. I have this hope that if I lose all the weight I want to lose, I might find someone I would want to flirt with. I know there is more to it than smiling. If there were a class on how to flirt, I would probably take it. Like I said, I have no clue. I think the fact that I don't drink alcohol at all is what limits this. If anyone has any pointers, I would love t hear them.

Yea, I would try sipping warm Water. It should dissolve the capsule if nothing else. I take all medication with warm water. I take one, drink a lot of warm water, wait a few minutes and take another one. I have a lot of stuff I have to take. It takes a long time. I take some in the morning, some with lunch and some more in the evening, about an hour before bedtime.

I love Dr. Oz too. He is so informative. -
Are you using a protein powder that you mix with water? They are not thick at all. A lot of people like Matrix or Ungury that you can buy online. Once they are blended, they are really just as thin as water.
-
This is really disappointing to me too. I look in the mirror and see a much smaller me. I had some pictures taken today, and my face still looks fat. When I look in the mirror, my face looks thin and I see wrinkles that were never there when they were filled up with fat. I had a full body shot taken and I still look pregnant. I really set my goal high because of my age. I don't think with my slow metabolism, I would be able to keep weight off with any lower of a goal weight. I have to accept the fact that when I am at goal, I will still not be thin enough. I keep saying over and over again, I wish I would have found out about the band several years ago. Pictures do add weight, that's for sure.

I hate the beginning part of it too. I don't watch it until they have selected the final 12 ( I think it's 12 when it really gets started?) Then I really love it!

You bet it's real. I know several people who are now alcoholics. We are used to stuffing our face instead of facing feelings. You should consider seeing a therapist now, rather than later. It would be better to learn to cope rather than a year from now, having all your credit cards maxed out, etc.
-
Nobody can make that decision for you. The band is sometimes not easy to live with. My advice to you is to read as much as you can on this board. Spend a great deal of time here before you go through with it. You need to research this before you make your decision. There are several places on the board with all sorts of information that you are looking for.

I am so glad everyone here has such good ideas of possible ways to help this situation. I hope you will keep us posted if you get any satisfaction. Butthead man should WANT to help his daughter.

Was the trash can empty when they took it? I worry so much about identity theft. I would alert the credit bureau, unless it was completely empty. They say on the news that's the main reason trash or trash cans are stolen.

I have started shopping at Goodwill. I found some cute tops there for $2. My daughter gets so mad at me for wearing clothes that are too big. I can't keep up with buying new clothes and not knowing how long they will fit.
