You can see how original I am by mine. I don't think I am the one to give good advice. I do think it's a great idea to go with something related to biology unless you're tired of that by the end of the day.

Please move your posts to the new 2008 lower BMi thread.

New Me, I was a very slow loser. I lost 22 lbs the first 4 weeks on the liquid diet and then nothing for a couple of months. It was really frustrating. But slowly, I started losing a lb here and there. I often will go for a couple of months and not lose anything. I have to exercise nearly every day or I don't lose at all. If I do that, after I plateau for awhile, then suddenly I will drop 5 lbs. then nothing again for a couple months. I am happy though. I know I would be heavier by now without the band, and I am now lower than I have been in 25 years.

Audric, I am really glad you finally told him. Although I can certainly see why you chose not to tell him at first. I have never told my dad. If I had, he would remind me over and over again about how much money I spent. He would not be supportive. It's very tricky when I go to Arizona and eat around him. I have to be really careful. It's pretty unusual to get overfilled with a first fill. Most doctors want people to get used to their fills slowly. We are all rooting for you!

A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I changed my picture on Plenty of Fish. I get an email almost every day now. They have a chat feature there too, and I have chatted with a couple of guys. They both live very far away. It feels good that my new picture has changed things around for me. I used to send a picture and never hear a word after they asked for it. One person even told me I was beautiful. I don't think that's completely true, but it sure felt good! -

I am sure my doctor would do your surgery. We are 100 miles north of the CA border on the coast. Call him. His number is 541-267-5151 Dr. Steven Tersigni He just raised his price from 10,000 to 12,500 It's more than Mexico. You get 3 fills with the surgery. -
Who Needs New Years Resolutions?
Oregondaisy replied to josephine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is probably the first year that I didn't swear I would lose weight this year one way or another. I still want to lose a little, but now at least I know it's possible. I love bandland! -
My computer is a mess too. I am going to be going through LBT withdrawls when I take it to my nephew's house for an overhaul sometime soon.

What are your' cereal choices??
Oregondaisy replied to twiggyinhiding's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will have to look for that. I want to look for the chocolate one too. My big deal is fiber. It seems like the veggies and fruits don't work so well with the band. I have to get it somewhere, so whole grains it is! -
Having the right fill makes all the difference in the world. If you don't have the right fill, it's like driving your car on flat tires.

I am sitting here sipping on pineapple juice. It makes me mad that I can't get any Fiber in my diet. I was munching on a cucumber, tiny little bites and now it feels like I have razor blades in my esophagus. Welcome back WasA and Lauren. And thank you for the Christmas card, Lauren. I don't do cards. I try to participate as little as possible with anything having to do with Christmas.:huytsao

You will know your band is too tight if you get a lot of heart burn If you can't eat solid food without throwing up or what they call a pb productive burp. If you chew your food well, and still throw up, you're too tight. Everyone needs to start posting on the lower bmi for 2008 thread. We shouldn't keep two lower bmi threads going.

Yea, I am eating a quaker 90 calorie mini delight right now. I gave in to head hunger.
-
It took me a long time to get the right restriction too. It's nice now to be full on a little bit of food and stay full for a long time. The head hunger is another story. I feel really full right now, but I keep thinking I want to eat something. That is something everyone has to work on forever. The band can't help us when we really aren't hungry but still want to eat. I do know exercise is really important. I wouldn't have lost anything if I didn't exercise almost every day.
-
Congratulations Justin. Try to make sure you follow your doctor's directions on how long he wants you to be on the liquid diet. Some people really have trouble staying on it. It's not for losing weight. It's so the band can heal properly around your stomach. They don't want the stomach moving to digest food. I am sure you will do great and we are all cheering you on!

What are your' cereal choices??
Oregondaisy replied to twiggyinhiding's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All the Kashi cereals have more protein and fiber in them than other cereals. I eat that every day. I need my fiber. I like the Crunch and the one called "Good Friends" -
I am close to goal but I have a feeling this last 10 lbs is going to come off pretty slowly. I have the right fill finally, and I do exercise all the time. I really hope that I am not going to go on another big long plateau. I bought some pants that are a little tight. The next size down was too baggy. If I can just take off a little more, I will be able to wear them without them looking like they are painted on me. I am so broke from Christmas, I can't afford the QuickSlim30. I bet it would help get me to goal but I just can't afford it. The good thing is, I spend way less on food now!

Other people have more of a life than I do. I spend hours on here because I don't have a lot going on. I hope when I get down to where I want to be, I might actually attract some interest from the male species :scared:

How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you talking about Garth Davis from Big Medicine? Getting the band was easier than going to the dentist for me. I was out walking 3 dogs the day after surgery. I hope your surgery goes well. I really wasn't all that hungry until about 3 weeks of being on liquids. I didn't let myself get hungry. I did mostly low carb slim fast or Atkins. It was so easy to pop open a can. If I was hungry, I drank a can. I did do some soups when I got bored with protein drinks. The 3rd week, I really wasn't all that hungry, but it's head hunger. I was bored with everything I could have. I had 4 weeks on liquids though. Some doctors let people move to mushy food sooner than mine did. Feel free to ask questions! -
Taking Suggestions for NEW LBT Features!

To get a ticker, all you have to do is click on someone's ticker. It should bring you to the spot where they got their ticker. You pick out what you want. Then it will give you the codes. You have to go to the top of the board and their is a place for your signature. Copy and paste the codes into your signature. If I didn't explain it well enough, go to thread search and type in ticker. There is somewhere on this board that gives very good instructions. -
Thank You! I have a feeling it's going to take awhile to get this last ten lbs off. I usually go on plateaus that last months, then drop a few. I really don't even care. I really like exercising, and whenever it decides to drop again, I will be ready and waiting. I am excited that my gym is starting some new classes. It's always good to change things around.
-
There is no forum on the board where newbies are not welcome. Even the life at goal thread has newbies posting there. It's nice to go and see how people are doing after they reach their goal, or ask questions about how they got there. Like Green said, the more the merrier.

How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most people do say they are not hungry in the morning. The thought is the band is tighter in the AM from sleeping. You aren't as hydrated after sleeping. The band reacts to how hydrated you are. A lot of people will drink a protein drink in the morning to get their protein in but don't feel much like eating. I had the stomach flu over Christmas. Today I had a PB experience, which I have not done in a long time. My stomach is sore. I sure hope I didn't hurt anything in there. I always stick to liquids after a bad pb, but tonight I am hungry and I don't know if my stomach ache is due to that bug that's going around, or if I am just hungry. My stomach just kind of aches. The RV stories remind me of my parents. They took me all around the United States in an RV when I was 17 . That's how my dad decided he was going to retire in Mesa AZ. He did the snow bird thing for awhile back and forth from Chicago, until they finally moved to AZ full time. Mesa is completely full of RV parks. Hope everyone is having a great New Years.
