Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So our old thread is completely gone????? I like papaya enzymes better than pineapple juice. I carry them in a little medicine bottle in my purse. It's easier than dragging a little can of pineapple juice to a restaurant. I have to take itty bitty bites too. I cut my meat as tiny as possible and chew it until there is nothing left to chew. Then I don't need the papaya tablets. -
Say No To Carbs 2 Day Challenge...come Join Me
Oregondaisy replied to renewedhope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I bought some sugar free syrups. It's the kind they make the fancy coffees with . I bought caramel and raspberry. It really adds some nice flavor to the chocolate protein shakes. I get tired of the same old thing and these have really helped. -
I am so glad I didn't tell anyone! The last thing in the world I wanted was for people to be bugging me about "how much have you lost" It does make it a little complicated to go out to dinner with some people though.

Dizzy spells, fatigue, nausea, weird pain. Help! What is wrong with me?
Oregondaisy replied to celeste_'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You know, after reading this over, it does sound like gall bladder. My daughter had RNY and had to have her gall bladder out. They say weight loss can cause the gall bladder problems. I remember her having pain in her back. There is a blood test that determines this, but you do have to have an ultra sound. -
Good job Boo Boo! It feels good to get rid of things you have no use for. I hope you make a lot of money on E Bay!

Exercise is Key. I wouldn't have lost anything if I didn't exercise 5-6 days a week. If you ask any of the people who have had good weight loss, they all exercise at least 5 days a week. PB stands for productive burp. Sometimes we burp and some food comes with it. More of the time, when something is stuck and won't go through the band, you puke. It's all out puking, not burping. Usually a bunch of thick spit starts coming up first.

NSV stands for Non Scale Victory. Sometimes we go down in a size or someone tells us that we look great. Those are non scale victories.

Sure no problem. I love to look at the before and after pictures. It's so amazing to me to see the people who had a lot to lose who are now at their goal. It's possible with the band. There are so many people who say that you can't lose all your weight with the band. That is just not true. If you follow the rules, and don't eat junk food, the band keeps your portions small and you lose! It's so great! -
Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to vbaum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have left shoulder pain off and on. There doesn't seem to be anything that causes it. I never know when it's going to come or go. I have heard of a lot of people that always have it even if their surgery was years ago. I thought it was bursitis until I started reading this board and another one, and found out that people have left shoulder pain even if they were banded a few years ago. Everyone does say it has something to do with the band pressing on the diaphragm. -
Everyone is always afraid the lap band won't work for them. I know I sure was. I am a slow loser. I was disappointed that I wasn't losing as fast as some of the other people on this board. If you follow the rules of eating Protein first, then veggies and a little bit of fruit, and stay away from white carbs like potatoes, noodles rice , etc you will lose. It might not be as fast as you would like, but you will lose. Once you get properly filled, you will only be able to eat a small portion and then you will lose better.

You should spend time before your surgery just reading all around the board. There is a wealth of information on this board. Try to get familiar with the different sections. The food section has good things to make while you're on the special diet right after surgery. You might want to stay out of RAnts and Raves. For the most part, that section has nothing to do with the surgery. It's more of a place where people get their frustrations out. -
I paid for all of that and then paid for the surgery. So, in addition to all that you paid, I paid that plus $10,000.00 It will be worth it in the end. If your insurance covers it, the prize is coming soon.

I don't know what to tell you. Have you tried calling the doctor's office that did you banding and explaining all of this. All I know about gall bladder problems is that you would have pain on the right side. If you don't get many replies for some odd reason, make another post asking for the RN's on this board to please read your post. There are quite a few medical people that post here regularly. Maybe one of them will have an answer. -
There is a doctor here in Oregon that leaves the needle in and has you drink Water. Everyone seems to love it. The doctor can tell by how the water is going down whether to add more saline or take some out. My port is just below my waist. I have never ever heard of one in the chest. If you are freaked out over needles, maybe you can just keep your eyes closed. My doctor has me lay down on the table and push my belly out. The fill is over with in about 2 seconds. There would be no reason in the world why I couldn't close my eyes while he does this.

You have nothing to worry about. Most people feel much better in a couple days. For me, it didn't even take that long. I really would never even known I had surgery if I didn't have the little cuts on my tummy. I was out walking 3 dogs the day after surgery. I lost 22 lbs the first 4 weeks while I had to be on a liquid diet. -
Maybe you are too tight. If things are getting stuck and you are sure you are taking really tiny bites and chewing very well, you could be too tight.

Sometimes I just go to the top of the page and click on "new posts" and just read the new posts, and if there is something I want to respond to, then I do. Then after that, I get an email that there's a new post in that thread.

After you sign in, When you reply to a post, you should get an email that tells you that you have an answer. That's how I keep up. There is somewhere on top, too called quick links.I have never used that, but I think it will show which threads you have replied in. If you want to post, just hit post quick reply. When you click go advanced, it just brings up the smileys that you can use in your posting. If you want to quote something someone says , in their box of their post click on quote, and it will bring you to the posting box. you can quote the entire post, or cut out the part that you don't feel is necessary. You need to leave in the beginning word quote, and the last word as quote, so it will quote what's in between those two words. I am glad you said I have helped you in any way. I am always willing to help anyone with anything.

How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That wasn't the way I did mine, but that's great if it works. The main pill I have trouble with is my calcium pills. They are huge. I haven't been taking them lately. I figured out they are also making me constipated. So now I just eat those little chocolates that are calcium. Works out great. A little snack after dinner but it's calcium. It's going to take some real dedication to get this last 10 off. I am such a sweet eater and I just need to stay home and not go anywhere, or I fall off the wagon eating something someone offers me. I just can 't seem to say no. Last night it was a brownie. I wonder why I brownie won't get stuck but a piece of bread will. -
this is gross- so if you are easily offended do not read-i have had "minor" complicat

I love this board. I spend a lot of time reading, even when I am not posting. That is so great that you have lost 60 lbs already. It took me a year to lose that much. I really want this last 10 lbs gone! -
Lauren, I think you should have something that sounds intelligent. You are a very intelligent person. I don't think birdbrain fits you at all. Has WASA chimed in yet? She would have an opinion , I am sure.
