Lower BMI thread (I guess we got moved!)
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I definitely think the weight comes off slower for those of us who do not have as much to lose. Plus I am sure for me, being older is why I have been slow to lose. I know it's going to take awhile for this last 10 to come off. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, the scale isn't budging. As long as I don't gain, I am happy. I think the scale will move eventually. It always has in the past. -
Welcome Faith! I seem to follow you all around the board. I have finally decided that being a slow loser isn't all that bad. Being a gainer - now that is bad! As long as I am not gaining, I don't mind how slow the rest of it comes off. I am exercising and eating right, so I figure it has to eventually come off.

That's the way I lose too. I lost 22 lbs the first month on the liquid diet. Then I didn't lose anything for about 3 months. Then I lost 5 lbs in one week. No weight loss again for a couple of months. Another 5 lbs down in a week. One month I lost 15 lbs because I was overfilled. I went in for an unfill after one weekend because I was too tight. I tried for the next month to live with the fill, but couldn't get anything down but Soup. I ended up getting some more taken out. I lost 15 lbs that month, but I knew I was too tight and that's not good. Since then, I have slowed way down. I am expecting my last 10 lbs to come off very slowly.

I am extremely constipated if I do strict Atkins. I can't live like that and it's not good for the colon. I eat a very high fiber whole grain cereal in the morning and try to eat a little bit of fruit.

It really doesn't matter if someone can google my posts, but I would rather that they didn't know which Denise out the many thousands of Denises in the United States made certain posts. Those numbers after my name identify something of mine and I am fine with Denise but I want those numbers gone and I don't know how to change it. Alex said there is a way to change our username but I can't find it! -

Alex, On my User CP, I don't see anything that would take me changing my user name. Please advise as soon as possible. I did take things off my profile, but I would like to remove the numbers after my name and put something different there like perhaps AthinnerDenise. Can you take care of that for me? -

Alex, I can't see either where to edit username. It says enter password to continue. It says nothing about editing username. I just want the numbers off my name. Can you help? -

I can't believe I just found this thread. I googled Denise lap band and it brought me to a bunch of my posts. I don't like that either. I took a bunch of stuff off my profile too. -

difficulties with knowing what to do

JFran, don't be discouraged. I would go on plateaus that would last for months. Then all of a sudden, I would drop 5 lbs. I think our body does take some time out to adjust to it's new weight before it wants to drop again. -
I can't remember if I have had 6 fills now or 7. You have to remember that as you lose fat around your stomach, the band gets looser. If you have good restriction without a fill, it's because the band was tight on you to begin with.

Yea, Alex moved us and closed the original lower BMI thread. I think everyone will find us here. -
Doddie, try reading the at goal forum. Everyone there who has had good weight loss exercises regularly. You could also look at the before and after pictures to help with motivation.

AudricIan, it's pretty common to be looser in the evenings. For some reason, the band for most people is tighter in the morning. The band reacts to hydration. In the morning, people aren't as hydrated from sleeping all night. A lot of people get fills every 4 weeks until they feel good restriction.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Oregondaisy replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you Dr. Watkins. You are such a wealth of information to us. I always thought it had to do with rapid weight loss and really not anything else. I would supposed I have a set back with this because I lost 22 lbs the first month, and 15 lbs the 9th month. -
I love it when my family asks me how I lost weight. I am completely honest. I tell them for the first 4 weeks, I drank slim fast 3-4 times a day, and nothing else. I exercise 6 days a week. I watch my portion size and count calories. There is no lie in any of this information.

I do believe BabyGotBack posted the entire diet in the beginning of this thread.

Thank you! I am very excited to say the least. I just hope the rest of her pregnancy goes okay since the first 6 months have been so difficult for her. This is supposed to be her best trimester. She isn't having morning sickness anymore, but she is like a walking zombie. -

I haven't figured out what causes the hair loss. A lot of people have had blood tests taken and their Protein levels were just fine. I have taken every Vitamin known to man that is supposed to help this. Mine has slowed down, but I am still losing more than normal. I hate it. There is always hair all over the bathroom floor, my car, etc. -

do any of you have problems going to the bathroom doing low carb? This is a big problem for me. I ate some prunes today. I hate the fact that this is such a problem with a low carb diet. -

I turned 55 in Oct. I have a daughter who had gastric bypass 2 years ago. That's how I found out about Lap Band. I went with her to her support groups and heard about it was very excited that losing weight was actually a possibility for me. I would never have gastric bypass. I was really against her having it. It has worked out well for her, and she is pregnant with my first grandchild. The pregnancy has been hard for her. She can't seem to keep up her levels of B12 and has to have shots, so she is tired all the time. I also have a son that will be 24 next month. He is 5'10" and weighs 140. He eats whatever he wants and obviously doesn't have whatever genes my daughter and I have! -
I asked on the thread "taking suggestions for new LBT" if we could have a new slow losers thread on the main page so it would be easier to find. If Alex doesn't look there right away, someone needs to send a PM to Alexandra.

Taking Suggestions for NEW LBT Features!
Oregondaisy replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
We have a thread for slow losers going. It's getting very long. We have been wondering if we could have a special place on the mail page so people can find it easier. Thank you for fixing editing. It's much easier now!
