okay, I knew that scientology does not believe in medicine, but does anyone know what they DO believe in? Besides this crack pot LRon Hubbard?

Will pills get stuck?

I eat those every day. I love them! -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I forgot to say that the one thing I can be guaranteed to eat without any problems is salad. I have never had one bit of trouble with salad. Salad with whatever I want to put in it. I almost always order salad if I am out with friends who don't know about the band. -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had different experiences with pbing and throwing up. I have had food get stuck and it pops out and that's the end of it. These throwing up experiences are completely different. I slime and throw up more slime, without any food coming up. This goes on for a couple of hours until finally whatever is stuck comes up. I have found the best thing when this happens is not to drink anything for a couple of hours and let everything rest. That was my mistake the other day. I tried to drink too soon. I worry so much when this happens because I know it's not at all good for the band. Tonight, I got stuck again. I was at a friend's house who invited me to dinner. She doesn't know about the band. I just stayed stuck and kept playing cards. I chewed papaya tablets over and over again, and finally got unstuck. This is the very first time I have ever gotten stuck and not thrown up ( or PBed) -
How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Oregondaisy replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really would like to know if the only reason for not drinking with meals is so we won't get hungry. I am going to see my dad soon and he doesn't know I am banded. I find if I take a sip of Water while eating, I don't get stuck as often. I am normally very good about not drinking anything for an hour, but around my dad, I definitely don't want to get stuck. I have heard drinking even a sip while eating will stretch the pouch, and I need to know if that is true. -
Okay, I read all your previous posts. Did you know that smoking speeds up your metabolism? I gained 7 lbs the first week I quit smoking. (15 years ago) Maybe you're trying to do too much at once. My treat for the day is a sugar free fudgesicle. 40 calories. or a sugar free popsicle 15 calories. Plus you said you can't get in for a fill. That makes such a huge difference. Did you get an appointment for a fill? If you had the right fill, it would make a huge difference. I hope you have your appointment. I am so lucky that my dr is 5 min from my house. I would be upset if I had to drive very far to get one. I hate driving!

I don't have an answer for you. I know exactly where you are coming from. My daughter is your age. She had gastric bypass and looks fabulous. She hates her wedding pictures. That being said, you have quite a bit of time left if you schedule the wedding at the end of summer. Maybe the wedding will be a good incentive for you to buckle down and gather all the willpower you need to lose as much as you can before the wedding. The problem with the band is that you can eat around it. You can figure out which foods go down easily, and are junky. My problem is chocolate. If you eat right, and don't let the junk food in, you have a good chance of losing well if you exercise regularly. A friend of mine got to goal in a year, doing 2 Protein shakes a day and dinner. She did an hour of hard cardio every day though. She lost over 100 lbs. I am going to go back through this thread and try to find any of your other posts, to see how you have been losing so far. Keeping up with fills is extremely important too.

A thread for Single Bandsters

Chrispy, I am so happy for you!! I know you have met quite a few guys in the last year, and I am so excited for you that you finally found one that makes you so happy! YAY! PigRF, Yeah, I remember you explained that to us one time. I still don't think the name does you justice! I can't wait to hear how your date goes. Right now, I have to be happy for everyone who is having positive experiences, since i have no clue how to meet anyone around here. Hey what do you guys think about this: I signed up for E Harmony for awhile. I liked the idea of being matched up with someone a computer found as a match for me after answering about an hour's worth of questions. I emailed with a guy, and I thought he had seen my picture on the site. It turned out they didn't have it up where he could see it. As soon as he saw my picture, he stopped writing. I have a new picture, and it's so much better. I have his email address. I have been trying to think of a way to say "Hey take another look" without sounding desperate. This new picture is 100% better. My good friend's husband actually told me it's the difference between being homely and hot comparing my old and new picture. How would I word that in an email and not sound like a lunatic? -

Welcome to the singles thread, Fanny! Stick around. We are all pretty good at supporting each other. You can be sure that if I found someone to date, I would be more than happy to go, no matter what weight I am. I happen to live in the middle of nowhere and if you have any ideas on how to meet single men, I am all ears! -
What exactly is Scientology anyway. What makes it different from Christianity? Do they not believe in God or what? I keep hearing about it, but I really have no knowledge of this religion.

I Am An Old Timer But I Am Terrified For What Lies Ahead

You are all doing so great! I haven't been able to afford my trainer last month or this month and I really miss him and our sessions. I plan to stick with him indefinitely, as long as I can afford it. My work out sessions are so much better with him. I work out without him as well, but it's not nearly as much fun. Josephine, I am sure you can maintain without going to the doctor as much. You have learned new habits, and you still have your band to keep you from overeating. -
You can complain and talk to us anytime. We are all rooting for you. We're all so happy that you're back online. Do you take medicine for gout? My mom had that, and said it was very painful.

Good Luck pigRF. I wish you had a different name, lol. I don't like calling you pigs are flying. Let us know how it goes. Manatee, I love your new weight ticker! I agree. you're lookin great! -
I think it really is the best way to eat with the band. It's a very healthy way to eat.
-
Thanks! I am going to look for it. It sounds great, especially if it's something that goes down easily.

It's a combination of the older we are, the more our metabolisms slow down, and yes, the people with lower bmi's lose slower than people who have more to lose. I know for a fact that I would not lose anything if I didn't exercise as much as I do. I used to track my calories on sparkpeople.com but now I am to the point where I know how many calories I am eating because I tend to eat the same things over and over. I finally broke my plateau, and dropped another 2 lbs. Now if I can just make it through the weekend without a major pigout, I will be happy. I am definitely a binge eater. I do fine for awhile, maybe 2 weeks, or sometimes only 4 days, then I go on a major sugar binge. I got a book called the Beck Diet solution-How to think like a thin person. It's helping me with mind over matter.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yea, it's me. I decided to do a name change after that post about googling our names. I googled Denise lapband and it brought me to all my posts. I didn't like that at all. I changed my profile and my name so now I can be any ol Denise. I had the worse pb which is really not describing my experience. I ended up throwing up for 5 solid hours. I would throw up slime and nothing else. Eventually, I am sure whatever was stuck came up, plus everything else in my stomach. Then, like a fool, after 2 hours I decided I hadn't had any protein since all of it came up. I drank a protein drink and started puking all over again. I know I was really irritated inside. I was almost to the point of going to the ER for an emergency unfill. I used the papaya enzymes, the pineapple juice and nothing helped. This has happened to me before where once I start throwing up, I can't stop. I didn't want to do that because #1 my insurance wouldn't cover it, and #2 it's taken me a year to get to my sweet spot. So today, I drank some herbal tea, and water, and didn't have a protein drink until evening. I seem to be all better now. You can bet I will be more careful about the size of my bites. I got careless since everything has been going so well for awhile now. Bad move! -

Go ahead and eat the yogurt with Muslex in it. That's healthy. Have you ever seen Bob Greene that is on Oprah that has "The best life" diet? He has his little best live slogan on all the foods he approves. He was on Oprah again a couple days ago. He is on her website. He has a very healthy way of eating and losing weight with his suggestions. He does say not to eat 2 hours before bedtime though. I want to get his book. -
In the new chat system, I could see people who were in the rooms, but I couldn't see any conversations. I am not sure if it's something I am doing wrong or if the chat room isn't working right.

I am in a bad way right now. I went to dinner last night with friends and had steak. I had no trouble with it. I could only eat about a third of it and brought the rest home. I tried eating some for dinner tonight and it's stuck and won't go down or come up. I am in pain. I have been sipping pineapple juice and that comes right back up but not what is actually stuck. I hate this. This has happened before, but not for a long time. -

I have done Atkins off an on all of my life. I finally came to the conclusion that it's just not healthy. I eat a high Fiber Cereal in the morning before I work out. I have tried to work out with just Protein for Breakfast and I get nauseous and dizzy. so, for the most part, I don't eat carbs the rest of the day. Sometimes, I do eat fruit. I will eat half an apple or prunes for the bathroom problems. I do put ground flaxseed on my cereal and the psyllium husks. My doctor from the very beginning told me to eat 75% protein and 25% fruits and vegetables. I do that other than my cereal in the morning. I don't eat very much cereal, because I am pretty tight. I would say it's 1/2 cup. -
Do you have any idea where I would find this at Walmart? I like the idea of a healthy snack.

POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
Oregondaisy replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Pb stands for productive burp. It is sometimes when you burp and food comes with it. Most of the time, it's really more like puking, if something is stuck pretty badly. That's why everyone says to chew like crazy. -
I will be interested to hear what he has to say at your appointment on the 22nd. When I had that problem, he had me do a resting metabolic test. It showed I have to eat 1000 calories or less plus exercise in order to lose weight. Sometimes it's hard to keep it at 1,000 calories or less, even with the band.

You and me both. The best part of going low carb is it helps with the cravings. I have done well today with sticking to as low as I can get. I was doing only shakes for awhile and I found that it just made me think about food too much. It's just as easy to go low carb eating food. I love the Atkins bars. The one with the nougat is delicious and there is a Peanut Butter chocolate one that says Morning on the box that is really good too.
