Didn't your doctor tell you to stay on liquids for at least 24 hours after a fill. That saliva you're talking about is what we refer to as slime. It can get out of control and be a real problem when you're eating with someone who doesn't know about the band. When I was in Arizona visiting my dad, I had to spit on the floor. I know , too much information:unsure:

Chickie doesn't want her pictures on here anymore. I agree ! She would look great up there. We are talking about the stranger at the top of the home page. I think it should be someone from LapBandTalk She is covered up now at least on my home page, by an ad from one of the lap band sponsors.

Won a trip to Vegas - Scared because have never flown
Oregondaisy replied to *susan*'s topic in The Lounge
Wheetin, does flying mess up your band? Have you noticed any difference with your first few meals after flying? I thought it was just me, but I have talked to others that say the same thing. I hate flying. Not because I'm afraid of it. I just think it's the most boring thing in the world. I am not one that likes to sit still for hours on end. I have only flown first class once. Now that would be a lot better. There is so much more leg room. -
Taking Medications
Oregondaisy replied to LisaLynelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Susan, I didn't use to have problems with my vitamins but now I do. Which kind do you get that are chewable. A lot of people are doing flinstones chewables. I want a good adult vitamin with everything possible in it. -
H. Pylori - what is current treatment?

Get the Pepto Bismall tablets not the liquid. I had it and I did have symptoms. I had a horrible pain in my right side that went all through my body into my back. It would wake me up from a dead sleep wanting to go to the ER. I can't remember which anti biotic I took, plus prilosec and pepto bismall tablets. You will always test positive for it now. I had to give a stool sample at my last physical to make sure it's gone. It shows up on a blood test that I have it, but the stool sample said it's gone. Weird stuff. It causes ulcers. It's caused from bacteria. You can get it from eating an apple or something like that if you don't wash it. Believe me, I never want that back again. -
Why don't we get someone from Lap Band Talk to pose? Boo Boo Kitty would be great up there!

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yea, we are a pretty great group of people here. Maybe going to the before and after pictures would help you feel better until you get into your doctor. Maybe you are going to be like the other poster who once they got their food and gatoraide felt better. I don't think you are going to find many people here that hate their bands. You could try sending a private message to someone who has had their band removed. I know the band isn't for everyone, but the majority of us love our bands. I eat whatever I want in small portions. It's only the first four weeks or so that you have to be strict in what you eat/drink. Now if the band would just not allow chocolate to go through, I would be thrilled! -

Can you get a Xanex from your doctor? I know a lot of people who have a fear of flying and can't do without a tranquilizer. I should probably tell you that flying screws up your band. I don't know what it is, but the altitude tightens the band. I just got back from a trip to see my dad in Arizona. It's 2 hour flight. The first night, I couldn't even sleep. I had major heartburn and had to sleep sitting up. Be careful with what you eat for your first couple of meals after you land. Go with soft foods. Last year, I didn't know this, and got a Wendi's chili in between flights and threw it all up in the garbage can. Not pretty. -
Well you have come to the right place! We are all about support here. Things that have worked for others is logging all your food on fitday or sparkpeople.com Are you exercising? I would probably never lost more than the 22 lbs I lost on the post op diet if I didn't exercise 6 days a week. I am sure there are a lot of other people who will chime in with great advice.

Yes thankfully, popcorn is one of the things that goes down like their is no band at all. Crunchy things seem to work the best. Doughy things are another story. I could eat a big bag while at the movies cause it goes right through the band into the stomach. I have to force myself to order a kiddy size or none at all. I like the 100 calorie ones too. It's a great way to not go overboard.

It's a great idea. It would already have the portions figured out so that we aren't making something that we have to eat for a week, right? Get the recipe for Protein pudding in there!

There is a medication you can take for that. I know someone else that has that problem. She tries to go off her medication, and has problems right away. It's called Luvox. It sends the message to your brain not to have your esophagus spasm.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wish everyone had the money to pay for their own lap band surgery. I would have lost my mind if I had to wait to be approved. Once I made up my mind, I was having surgery the next month. I am sorry they are giving you trouble. It's got to be frustrating! -

You must have not clicked on the next page. This is a very active thread! For the first few days at home, walk around as much as you can if you have gas. Try to sip on liquids through out the day. I never really had any pain to speak of, and went back to work in a few days. I hope your recovery is as easy as mine was. -
Well I wish you all the luck in the world Lauren. You are so bright and I am sure you will figure all of this out, and end up with a great career. It sounds like one of the temp agencies would be a goo deal for you if they have them where you are.

Yes, it's very common for fills not to last long. Even if you aren't losing very many lbs on the scale, you're losing the fat pad around your stomach. That loosens the band. The evenings are the worse for me.

Both excited and nervous in Oregon
Oregondaisy replied to Ricky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yay! A lot of happy Dr. Tersigni patients here! I wish everyone lived close enough to come to the support groups. I get tired of there being so many gastric bypass patients and hardly any band patients. It would be so cool to have the people I "meet" here to come to support group. -
As you get more fills, your band is tighter. You might find a food that was easy for you to eat is not so easy anymore. You might get stuck on something that never gave you any problems before. You're right though. As you lose weight, you also lose some fat around your stomach, which makes the band looser again. Then those foods that were giving you problems, might be easier again. Just remember after a fill to be careful. Take tiny bites and chew until there is nothing left to chew.

Congratulations! I feel certain that you will really like all the staff at Dr. Tersigni's office. Robin has so many people in her family that have been banded, including her husband. I hope your insurance pays for fills as well. If they do, you might want to go to Kelly Fitzpatrick. She is a lot closer to you. She has an office in Portland and Eugene. -
What about tutoring? Is that a possibility even if it's not at your school? I hear parents will pay big bucks to see their kid not fail.

Well, I am only 5'2". If I lost 10 more lbs, I would still be overweight. I think at my age, I must be realistic. I looked at pictures of me from when I was younger and I know what I weighed in that picture. It was 145. That was how I determined I need to lose 10 more lbs. I have a lot of muscle in my legs now, and there is all that talk about muscle weighing more than fat. Sometimes I wonder if I didn't have that muscle, how much would I weigh. I still have a belly I would like to go down. No matter how many crunches I do, it's not going anywhere.
-
You look great Manatee! Maybe the look you're goin for is more muscle in the abs. Do you work out? I really don't think you need to lose 20 more lbs. You look like a completely different person!
-
I am glad you checked in AudricIan. I have been wondering about you. I wish my body would decided it's time to lose again. I want this last 10 lbs off so badly. I don't want to get another fill. I can barely eat now. My portions are very small, I exercise like crazy, so I have a feeling this is where my body wants to be. I think it's my age.
-
Your fill could loosen on it's own. Just make sure you cut your bites into eraser size bites. Chew until there is nothing left to chew. Wait in between bites. If you do these things, and still have trouble, you're right, you need an unfill. Usually, doing these things will work until the fill loosens on it's own. As you lose fat around your stomach, the band gets looser. If you're close to your doctor, and don't have to pay for fills and unfills, that usually makes a difference too.

A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Chrispy, I am so glad you checked in! I have been wondering if we are going to be hearing about wedding bells sometime soon. I haven't met anyone new in a long time Chrispy. I have someone writing to me on Matchdoctor.com which is free like POF, but he says his camera is broken when I asked for a picture. He doesn't live that far away, so I could go do a look and see, but not wanting to share a picture sends red flags up. I met someone that I emailed with quite a bit, but he said he felt no chemistry. He lives 80 miles away, so we both agreed that was too far to see if any chemistry could develop. I've been thinking about joining yahoo personals. April, I should warn you that flying really messes with the band. When I flew to Arizona last month, it was 2 days after I got there before I could eat solid food again. The first night was miserable. For some reason the altitude tightens the band. Go easy the first few meals.
