Someone told me I need a fill since I haven't lost anything since Dec. I don't think I do because I still get full on small portions and stay full for about 3 hours. I haven't pbed in a long time, but I hate to base whether or not I need a fill on that. I just chew very well, and know which foods are problem foods. Everyone says if you're not losing consistently, I need a fill. I am kind of afraid because I have been overfilled and it was horrible. What do you think- to fill or not to fill.

Funny things happen when you start to age.

I have 3 ccs and my band holds 4. I am sure I could not handle anymore than that. I hate throwing up, and having food gets stuck. I am just perfect right now. I can eat whatever I want, just in small amounts. If I chew very well, and eat slowly, I don't have problems. -
Don't you have to go back for a check after a couple of weeks though? I could have it done in Arizona probably way cheaper. I usually stay there at least 2 weeks when I go to see my dad.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

A lot of people don't feel any restriction until they get several fills. There are a lot of people who complain about that. Some doctors are afraid to be aggresive with fills, especially if you don't live close to their office. -
I hope you get it too Lauren! I just noticed your ticker. You are doing great!

Both excited and nervous in Oregon
Oregondaisy replied to Ricky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have had a lot of fills. I actually lost count. I had the same problem with being overfilled. I lost 13 lbs that one month that I was overfilled. I got the fill on a friday, and Monday I had some taken out, but not enough. I was throwing up in my sleep. It was horrible. I would be sound asleep, and all of a sudden, water would rush up into my mouth. I tried waiting it out to see if would loosen on it's own , but it didn't. I lived on egg flower Soup and Protein drinks that whole month. I would probably say between fills and unfills, I have probably have had 6 fills? I know I am very lucky to be so close to his office. I can actually get there from my house in less than 5 min. I go to support group every month, and Robin has helped me decide if I need another one. I thought I did need one, but then last night I got stuck on my dinner so I am not getting another one.I have good restriction. I think the reason I am having trouble getting the last little bit is 1. my age 2. I take hormones 3. It's always harder to lose the last little bit. I worked out with my trainer today, and he helped with some ideas on how to break a plateau. -
That's what I was trying to say. Gaining muscle and having rock hard abs looks so wonderful.

Fluro would cost me about $400.00. It has to be done at the hospital as an out patient. I can get a fill for a co pay of $20.00. I don't think I should get one. I need to just exercise my brains out. I hate it so much when food gets stuck. I got stuck on dinner tonight. That tells me I still have good restriction. I don't want to go back to that happening every day. I wasn't as hungry today either.

I couldn't agree more. I loved seeing her pictures on her posts.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

If you think this one is funny, do a thread search and find the one called "thread killer" It's hilarious. -
I am jealous. I really want to have it done but it's 4,500.00 here. I see ads all the time to have it done way cheaper than that.

You have come to the right place! You will find all the support in the world here! I didn't have as much to lose as some either. I have been a slow loser. I told my two closest friends. I am glad that I did because it's hard to eat with people who don't know that I have the band. I go out to eat with them often. So basically, my two kids know, and my two friends. One of them wants to get the band too, but there is no way she could follow the rules. She lives on candy, cookies, brownies, etc. The band isn't going to help her with that, because unfortunately, those things go down like there is no band.:crying: -
A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
POF= Plentyoffish.com It's free ! I love it. I haven't met anyone through there but I love reading the forums there. The other free one is matchdoctor.com April, I have a real problem with sleeping. It's a big problem in my life. I was thinking about getting another fill, but then I got my dinner stuck tonight, and I hate the thought of that happening more often. It finally went down, but I hate it when that happens! I don't think another fill is a good idea for me. -

I finally lost the weight I gained over the weekend. Janet, you should love working out with a trainer. I hate cardio but I love weight training. This month it is 4 years since I joined my gym. I love the solid muscle in my thighs. This is the first time in my life my thighs don't stick out farther than my hips. I love my band too! For 3 years I was going to the gym faithfully and not losing weight. Everyone at the gym thinks all my hard work is finally paying off, but they don't know that it's the band that made me turn the corner. Misty I am so sorry to hear about your troubles too. It seems to me that you live close to me, if I remember correctly. You should be very proud of yourself for not turning to food! When I am stressed, I turn to chocolate but I am working on that. -
I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can relate to you being depressed. My daughter had WL surgery at 25. Before she had the surgery she was very depressed. Then the weight started falling off her and now she goes skiing, wake boarding, wears a bikini, and is happier than she has ever been in her life. -
String cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese and fruit, actually cottage cheese mixed with yogurt is delicious. That's all I can think of at the moment. I have to say again that I have never lost 2 lbs a week. I lose 5 lbs and then I won't lose anything for at least another 2 months. I exercise 6 days a week. I have to agree that it's very hard to get everything in that we are supposed to. Fiber is a big problem. Can't drink for an hour yet drink 64 oz of water per day. Protein first bla bla bla. It's hard to balance it all.

Won a trip to Vegas - Scared because have never flown
Oregondaisy replied to *susan*'s topic in The Lounge
I know. It's so weird. I was a lot more careful on the way home from my last trip after having to sleep sitting up. I have to fly again in May. I take a little tiny plane to get to Portland. It doesn't go as high so I am able to eat in Portland during my lay over. On the way home is another story. I fly from Phoenix to Portland and I can not eat at all during the lay over. I can even feel my band like it's squeezing my stomach. -
Taking Medications
Oregondaisy replied to LisaLynelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bandsters are not supposed to have an absorption problem. We still have all our parts, and Vitamins just go into our stomach the same as they always did. The problem I have is you aren't supposed to take any medicine within 2 hours of taking Fiber. Fiber can make you not absorb your medicine. I like to dump some on my Cereal in the morning. Sometimes I will mix some citrucil in my Protein shakes too. I have to take medicines and supplements throughout the day now instead of all in the morning like I used to. -
I will have to look for that! I have never heard of puffcorn!

I can't see the lady anymore. There is a big ad over it and all I see it the top of her head. Chickie, you look great and don't let anyone make you feel bad about it. I wish I could get my weight down. Even at the goal I picked, I would still be overweight. I can't seem to drop anymore and I am bummed.

Both excited and nervous in Oregon
Oregondaisy replied to Ricky's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I feel so lucky to be only 5 minutes from Dr. Tersigni. Like I said, I wish all of you could come to the support groups. He's so great. He will come to the support group every so often just to answer questions. Shannon you are so lucky you have lost so well on such few fills. I am debating on whether or not I need a tiny one to get me down to my goal weight. -
The past few days I have been very hungry. I can only eat a small amount, but then an hour later, my stomach is growling. I remember the last time I went in for a fill, half my fill was gone. My dr. decided it disipatates after time. I wonder if that is what has happened. I need to talk to the nurse at support group on March 11th. The main reason I don't want to get a fill is I have so much trouble getting my meds down. I can't get liquid or chewables on some things.

Keeping it a secret?
Oregondaisy replied to Fluffy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just didn't want people constantly asking how much I have lost now. I have lost a lot slower than most people with the band. I don't think I need to tell people anything other than I exercise 6 days a week, I eat smaller portions and I count calories. All of that is true. I get really angry when people say things like "so and so lost weight but she didn't do it on her own" -
I think most of us bandsters have this same problem. It's hard to get fiber in when you can only eat a tiny portion. Sometimes I will drink a protein shake to get my protein in and then have a healthy portion of veggies. The protein shake goes right through the band so it's not like it really fills me up. It's a dilemma.

When I crave chocolate I have a sugar free fudgesicle. they are pretty good. I don't have cravings until in the evening. I also have some of the Cookies in the 100 calorie packs. Try to count calories and set a limit on how many calories you're going to have. Save up for your snack. If you eat mostly Protein, those cravings will go away.
