    terrified about my liver

I have problems with my liver too. I see a liver specialist. He advised me to take Milk Thistle. He tells me to get it from a Health Food Store, rather than any old place. Since I have been taking it, my lft's have improved dramatically. Best of luck.
  2. I don't think anybody on this forum has the qualifications to make that decision. We are not doctors. I think it's best that anyone considering weight loss surgery do their own research to make an informed decision.

    Slow Losers Unite!

I still take vitamins and supplements and probably always will. I doubt if I get everything I need from my food.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I don't wish I had a DH but I wish I had a DB. Can't even find any good candidates. I was hoping with the weight loss, that would be a possibility.

    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

Oh that's right. You must be having esohageal (sp?) spasms. That is hard to deal with. I know someone else that has that. She takes the medicine or she can't eat at all.

    Let's Get Personal

Benefiber doesn't work all that well for me. Plus I hate the way I can see it coated on the inside of the glass. It makes me wonder why my intestines look like. I do still use it sometimes, but I prefer Citrucel. It comes in chocolate and I mix it right in with my Protein shake. You can't do that right after surgery though. I used stool softeners right after surgery.

    no insurance/lapband

Dr. Tersinini had to raise his price to 12,500.00 because the clinic where he is at is charging him more for the day surgery room. Most doctors are able to give the name of finance companies that are for medical purposes. I took a 2nd mortgage on my house to do it. Lower interest. I already have it paid off. Best money I have ever spent!

    Slow Losers Unite!

Thank You shortgal! I am going to go and look at the chart. I am pretty sure I will know which ones are good ones, from low carb dieting most of my life. It took me a long time to learn to eat fruit once in awhile. I was so convinced even fruit was bad because it's higher in carbs. Okay, now I went to that page. How do you find the index for certain foods? I couldn't see where to click for that. Do you have to join?

    How often do you weigh?

I will freely admit I am addicted to the scale. I weigh when I get up and before I go to bed.

    I'm eating a brownie... okay, 3.

Hey that sounds like a great recipe. I need to get some ff cream cheese and cocoa. I definitely want to try that. I am going to write it down right now!

Do you think it's possible that you are too tight? I had those problems and I had a tiny bit taken out and now I haven't pbed or slimed in ages. It's great.

I respectfully disagree with that. There are a great many veggies that are low in carbs . We need fiber in our diet. Being on protein only is not good for the kidneys or the liver.

    Demand Your Fills

If you are newly banded? Wouldn't that mean you're supposed to still be on a post op diet? I think doctors know what they are doing. If you have your band for six months and don't have restriction, that's a different story. Newly banded people need to listen to their doctors. They just had surgery! They don't call it bandster hell for no reason. Newly banded people are healing, and have to wait for a fill for a reason.

    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

You know, I have been thinking about you today. Have you ever been told that after a pb you are supposed to go on liquids for 24 hours? I have always been told that by my doctor, people on this board and a different board. I think (just my opinion) that you should try at least 24 hours on liquids. If you're sliming and pbing frequently, your band and pouch probably need a rest.

    That lady at the top.

She is on the top right on my screen. I can see parts of her sticking out. Right now all I can see is the top of her head.

    That lady at the top.

I just don't get why on my computer she is covered up by an ad. Everyone else seems to see her. I saw her on my daughter's lap top, but not here.

    Moo Magic

Are you talking about those little packs of crystal light type stuff that you add to water? I want to find this stuff. Sounds yummy!
  18. It really depends on how much of a fill you have. I have a pretty tight fill and I can eat potato skins and apples with skins on. I take the tiniest bite and chew it until there is nothing left to chew and it's just liquid. Most of the time, it just feels like it's too much trouble. There are a lot of threads on what foods are problem foods. It looks like they changed the top of the board where it said thread search. You can search back through old threads to find out about problem foods, but now I will have to figure out how to do that again.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

I joined E harmony a couple of months ago and they haven't sent me one match. I am definitely not going to renew. Congratulations Kimmie. That's great news that it worked for you. Chrispy, that sounds like so much fun! I am sure you'll have a wonderful time.

Say No To Carbs 2 Day Challenge...come Join Me

I didn't do so well today. I came home from work and ate a bunch of raspberry sherbert that was left over from my daughter's baby shower. I found out that my dad probably has lung cancer. I waited all day for his doctor to call me but he never did. My dad will see him tomorrow and we will find out the results of his cat scan.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Janet, I work out with my trainer twice a week. Believe me, it's very easy for a man to make us feel like we are in high school again. I don't let myself go there, because I know he is married. You are right on about the drinks not keeping us full. Post op, I did a lot better with creamed soups too. At least I felt like I had a meal instead of drinking one of those shakes and wanting something else right away. It took me a couple of weeks before I started being really hungry, and still had 2 more weeks of liquids before I could progress to mushy.

    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

I really don't see how those patches could do anything to your band. I started weight training about 4 years ago. It didn't pay off though, until I got my band. I can't imagine why you would be so tight. Is this something new? I find if I eat something that I have trouble with, I am tight for a couple of days. I think I irritate something in there.
  23. Oregondaisy

    That lady at the top.

I can only eat half an apple. It takes me about an hour to eat it. I will sometimes do that if I feel like I haven't been getting enough Fiber. They sure aren't worth the trouble it takes to eat one. I am pretty good at cupping my breasts though, even though I have to look down to find them:ohmy:

    Is it only me? Help!

Best wishes to you! I am sorry about your son. I can't even imagine how hard that must be. Good thing you like to exercise! I am glad I had the exercise habit long before I got the band. It didn't pay off though, until I got my band.

Say No To Carbs 2 Day Challenge...come Join Me

Yea, I tried to do shakes when I was trying to break a plateau. I found that I was a lot hungrier than eating solid protein. don't know calorie wise if it came out to more calories, but then I don't feel like snacking cause I feel so full. Today I had a protein shake for breakfast, lunch was steak and broccoli, dinner was a slice of pork roast and green beans. It amazes me how full I get on such a small amount of meat. I always end up with so many left overs cause I can't judge, and my head is bigger than my stomach.
