Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I have gas when I put benefiber in my water. I notice with the band I sure burp a lot though. Good luck to all the new people. The band is the best thing that's happened to me, other than the birth of my kids! I never thought I would ever see this weight again!

    That lady at the top.

Why is it everyone else can see that lady. Am I the only one that has an ad across her so all I can see is the top of her head? Right now all I can see is "New Hope Bariatrics"

    I Was Just Thinking.....

Sure the band is a tool and it keeps portions smaller. Unfortunately, the bad foods go down like their is no band. I could easily eat a huge tub of popcorn at the movies. I have no problem with chips, candy, Cookies, etc. I choose not to eat any of that stuff. I choose chicken breast and chew it until it's liquid in my mouth.

How does it feel when out with frieds

It does make it a little bit more difficult to eat with people who don't know that I have the band. I do the " I had a late lunch, or you know I have been trying to lose weight" If someone doesn't know you have the band, it's pretty important to be careful what you order. My daughter had gastric bypass, so that works out well for us. My two very best friends know I have the band. My dad doesn't know I have the band. He is 89 and hardly eats at all, so I share meals with him, and told him my stomach has shrunk since I have lost weight.
  5. You can get Biotin at Walmart. All those supplements and Vitamins are in alphabetical order. I have been taking it all along, along with tons of Protein, and I am still losing my hair. I will keep taking it though, because like everyone says, it sure can't hurt.

    Moo Magic

I looked in the Walmart here by the Crystal light packages that you add to Water and couldn't find it. If I ever see an employee, I will ask if they have it. Walmart is so weird. They used to carry these BBQ soy chips that were delicious and not very many calories. Now they are gone.

    unfill or?

I am glad to hear you say that. There are many people who don't pb at all. I only did when I was too tight. Right now I can eat anything I want, at any time of the day. I just can't eat very much, and I have to chew very well. In my opinion, that is the way the band is supposed to work.

    unfill or?

It surprises me that people think that this is something that people have to put up with in order to keep losing. I was too tight for awhile and I was miserable. I knew it was not normal. I had a slight unfill but it wasn't enough. I spent a month constantly sliming living on Protein drinks and Soup hoping it would loosen on it's own. It didn't and I went back and had another tiny unfill. It's such a fine line between having exactly the right restriction and being too tight. If you ( or anyone) is having problems, they need to see their doctor. Why risk a slip, or other complications from being too tight? A slight unfill is way better than a complete unfill or worse yet, ending up having to have the band removed. l

Hello my name is Denise and I am addicted to LBT!
  10. There was some talk about whether or not we cared if our names came up on Google or other search engines. Alex had talked about changing something so lapbandtalk came up, but not individuals. People were discussing privacy issues.
  11. Oh I agree that Lap Band Talk should be found on google. After all, it IS the very best Lap Band board! I did take my birthday off. I don't really have a problem now if someone from google read my posts now, cause I don't think they in any way could identify which Denise in the USA wrote them.

    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

I agree. Being overfilled is miserable. It's such a fine line between being too tight and being just right. It really amazed me that having such a small unfill could make all the difference in the world. AudrickIan is going to keep us posted. It may loosen up on it's own. She said she will go in and have some taken out if it doesn't loosen on it's own. For the longest time, I was really unhappy with my band. It seemed like I was either throwing up or I could eat way too much. It's wonderful to have perfect restriction now.
  13. If you look under the name of the person who started this thread, it says she has been suspended from posting here. I think she was trying to get things stirred up.
  14. I know someone else who had their band removed because of the shoulder pain. It never went away, and it was intense. Mine is pretty much gone. I do notice when I exercise though, that holding any type of weight with my left hand makes it hurt. It's like now that shoulder is weak. My trainer can't even believe the difference. I keep telling him it's bursitis because I don't want to get into it all about the band and chronic left shoulder pain.

Yay! This is going to be great! I can't wait to see how it turns out. Chickie, are you going to change your mind about having a picture on here? You are an inspiration to us.

    Switching Addictions

Unfortunately, sugar goes right through the band. When I am stressed to the max, I still turn to sugar. Like yesterday for example, I was waiting to find out if my dad had lung cancer. The only thing I had in the house were different 100 calorie packs of stuff. For the most part, I have gotten the exercise habit too. Exercise really helps me more than anything when I feel stressed. I get really upset when something interferes with my gym time. I do know people who have turned to shopping. When they feel depressed or stressed, they spend money. It's definitely something to think about. Oprah has had some shows on this.

2nd fill: on the verge of misery

It should loosen up on it's own if you stay on liquids or mushies for a few days. I waited a month and it never did get looser. That's when I had the small unfill. I hope yours gets looser for you. I know I am really lucky to only live 5 min from my dr. I will be watching and waiting for your posts to hear how it's going!

2nd fill, am I okay or just freaking out????

AudricIan, it's not normal not to be able to eat dinner. Usually, if you are tight in the morning, it's loose by that time. If you don't loosen up in a few days, you should think about having a tiny bit taken out. I was too tight for awhile, and it was miserable. I was afraid to have any taken out, but I am sure glad I did. The tiniest unfill can make all the difference in the world. I copied and pasted this from another post. I can tell you it was not worth it to be too tight. With the tiniest unfill, I can now eat anything I want, in tiny portions, just the way the band is supposed to work. Stay on liquids for a little while, but if things don't improve, consider going in and asking for a tiny unfill . You will be still be able to lose weight, but won't be having these problems

    How often do you vomit/PB?

i pbed a lot when I was too tight. I haven't pbed at all since I got a tiny unfill. I now eat anything I want, in small portions, as long as I chew until there is nothing left to chew. I was really afraid to get an unfill because I thought that I had finally found restriction. Now I am so glad I did. It's definitely not worth it to be too tight. Tonight I had prime rib. It was yummy but I brought most of it home. I ordered the smallest portion, but ate about 1/3 of it.
  21. Oregondaisy

    TOTAL UNFILL...Scary!

If you try to stick mainly to Protein, you won't get cravings and shouldn't gain any weight during this time before you can get a fill again. Good luck!

    News & vent

Wheetin, that is the best news! Congratulations! Now you can hang out in the new section, pregnant and banded. I am glad you found an ob doctor. My daughter is pregnant and due in a month. She had gastric bypass 2 years ago. That's how I found out about banding by going to her support group meetings with her. She only gained 22 lbs. We expect her to gain more now here at the end. If you're 7 weeks and not feeling sick, that is great news! They say it lasts until 12 weeks, so you're probably not going to have morning (mine was evening) Anyway, I am so excited for you!

    A few questions...

There are people who have been pregnant with the lap band. I believe there is a place on here if you go to the main board, for people who are pregnant and banded. You may have to have your band unfilled while you are pregnant, so you can eat enough to support yourself and a growing baby. Yes, your hair will come back. Don't freak out when it falls out. Believe me, I have researched this as much as humanly possible. There are no Vitamins or supplements that will stop it from falling out if it's going to. Just make sure you get as much Protein as your doctor tells you to.
  24. If you eat only Protein, you can lose weight really fast. It's not good to do long term because it's hard on your organs. If you like tacos, make taco meat and eat that. Some doctors will not operate on people if they have a high BMI. I am not sure whether or not that is why your doctor told you to lose weight. I think it's a lot to ask of a person, to be on a liquid diet before and after surgery. It's more important to be on a liquid diet after surgery, while you are healing. If you eat only protein, your cravings will go away.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

no, I already told you it stands for probably barf. Can you have peanut butter on the liquid diet? When you barf, it would probably be liquid, wouldn't you think?
