Should I low carb to hit goal weight?
Oregondaisy replied to Livingthe Dream's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor says I am supposed to eat 75% protein and 25% veggies with small amounts of fruit. That sounds like low carb to me! -
How long before.................??

As soon as you are comfortable! -
1st Fill.. didn't do SH!T!!!
Oregondaisy replied to AppleSmith1226's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It took me about 5 fills to get good restriction too. I was really frustrated. You just have to try to eat right and stuff yourself with Protein and not carbs. You can still lose that way, and the cravings will go away. -
Why Aren't You Losing Weight?
Oregondaisy replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have never lost every week. Nothing would make me happier but I have accepted that I don't lose the way other people do. I have a slow metabolism, and once I drop, it takes awhile to drop again. -
How many cc's did it take for you to get to your sweet spot?
Oregondaisy replied to thenume's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You're very welcome! I hope this is a better fill for you and it gets your weight loss going again. -
Good deal. Being overfilled is dangerous. Glad you are perfect now. Nothing better in the world than perfect restriction!

What is a good Post Op shake?
Oregondaisy replied to MsHansy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I went to that site, I couldn't figure out how to find the flavors. I went to bariatric and it said Protein powder, but didn't list any flavors. -
I don't see JC posting on here lately. He is REALLY into exercise. He would be a good person to talk to. Maybe you could find him by doing a user search. I know he posts in the "Has anyone taken up bicycling" thread

Being over filled is no good. I lost 13 lbs when I was over filled. It's very tempting to stay that way when the lbs are just melting off. It's exactly what causes complications down the road though. I can answer your questions. On a typical day, I eat solid Protein which keeps me full for about 4 hours. I can eat a chicken leg and thigh for dinner. Sometimes that's too much and I can't finish it. I don't measure my meats by the cup. I use my hand for a measure. I had a steak the other day that was about the size of my palm. I ordered a 6 oz steak and ate half, so I ate 3 oz of meat. and a couple pcs of broccoli. ( just the tops) I almost always have a Protein Drink for Breakfast and about a hand full of Fiber one Cereal. Gotta get that fiber in! I drink 64 oz of Water min. per day. I warm it in the microwave, or if I am eating out I always ask for water with no ice. My dr. lets us drink right up until eating, but not for one hour after. Cold water makes my band hurt my stomach. I exercise 6 days a week at a gym . I use weight machines, work out with a trainer twice a week, and do cardio every time I go to the gym. I hope your fill loosens so you can eat normally. Feel free to ask questions.

So far today I had a protein drink for breakfast and a piece of pork roast and a few green beans for lunch.

If you go to sparkpeople.com you can look up calories of foods you commonly eat. Most foods have the calorie count on the packages. You have to adjust to whatever portion you are eating. The portions on the packages are usually little portions. -
I am going to suggest the book that has helped me not sabotage myself. It's called the Beck Diet Solution. It's not a diet. It's a book that teaches us how to stay on track. I am really glad someone suggested it to me. It has helped me a lot. It was only $9 from Amazon.com

You're welcome Apples. Thanks for that web site Angelica! I checked it out and I book marked it. There is a lot of good info there. I can't believe I have been doing Atkins off and on since I was about 13 yrs old. I could never stick with it permanently though. The band helps so much with that. Bread is just too much trouble to eat.

I don't have any right now to look on the box. It uses net carbs though. I believe that they have like 7 grams of Fiber. Fiber is a big problem when we're doing low carb. I am thinking that they have 2 grams of net carbs. I also count calories, and they are about 150 calories. Apples, the difference with net carbs is they subtract the amount of fiber from the total carbs to come up with net carbs. I think there must be something to it, or the Atkins products wouldn't be promoting net carbs.

How do you chew, chew, chew?
Oregondaisy replied to nurse7263's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Believe me, once you get food stuck and experience what that feels like, you will learn to chew chew chew. In the beginning, if you don't have much of a fill, if you don't chew enough, it's almost like you don't have a band. Once you get a fill that causes real restriction, and you don't chew enough, you will learn what I call aversion therapy. The band teaches you how much you need to chew or else you'll be sliming away until it passes through the band. -

I have 3 cc's in my band that holds 4ccs. I am definitely where I need to be. I am a slow loser but it's my body not the band. If I got a fill, I wouldn't be able to eat at all. I just have to eat right and be patient. The scale eventually will move again. -
WHY? Do I hate myself so much?

Benedryl stopped working for me years ago. Lunesta doesn't work as well for me as Ambien. I am lucky I don't have any side effects that some people have with Ambien. I am telling you-it saves my life. I am so happy it went generic. It's way cheaper now.

Thanks! I have to go there anyway later. I am all out of food. Do you eat the Atkins Protein bars? I love them. I love the nougat ones and the ones that say Morning on them that are Peanut Butter crisp. If I get hungry in the evenings, half of one of those is a great snack. They better not ever get rid of those. I would be lost without them.
