Was anyone banded in December of '06?
Oregondaisy replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WasAbubble Butt is doing just great. She is lower than her goal. I am not sure if she is still subscribed to this thread or not. I have 5 lbs to go until I am at my goal. I have been goofing off that past couple of weeks and haven't been as dedicated to going to the gym. I am pretty sure that once I start going back 5-6 days a week like I always did, I will be able to drop a little more. I have never been one that loses consistently every week. -
That's really too bad that you don't feel like AA can help you. Have you tried other meetings? There are non smoking meetings. Some people don't like the meetings, but still get much benefit from having a sponsor.

Would It Kill Me....

That's exactly what my doctor said at support group last night. The rates of slips have increased (almost double) because people are not staying on the liquid diet long enough for the band to heal properly on the stomach. The stomach can't be moving while this healing is going on. When the stomach digests foods, it moves. I am GLAD I had such a strict doctor. The thought of losing my band is a very scary thought. -

That's funny. I never even looked at the picture, just the words. Now that I have looked at the picture, it cracks me up. -

Still no grandbaby yet. DD is going to ask Doc to induce her tomorrow but I doubt he will. I feel like I am getting a cold and that would be horrible if I can't hold the baby! -
My surgeon just came and spoke at support group and talked about bowel obstructions. He said it's always a possibility from scar tissue. Is it near your port? I hope someone can run some more tests and find out what is wrong. It would seem like all the tests you had should have shown something.

OH jeepers. I never even thought to look at the posting date.

You're lucky Lauren that it didn't cause any further problems. Some bites can cause serious health problems. I am glad yours didn't!
-
Manatee, are you going to post a more clearer picture, now that you LOOK SO FINE!?
-
Yeah Welcome back TOM. You could send a PM to Alex about your problem or try to post in the section of LBT feed back and suggestions.
-
So you aren't stuck anymore? It's horrible when something is stuck and stays stuck for a long time.

I love it when this topic comes up again. People want to say something, but they don't realize that the majority of people will just skip over their post because it's too hard to read.

I don't think this thread should die at all because new people that may join lapBT will be here researching and when they think "oh one little bite of this or that certainly won't hurt" maybe they will remember this thread and realize it's not worth risking a slip. They need to have it drilled into their heads that the liquid diet is very necessary for healing. -
I am really glad to hear that you found someone to do your fills. We are all very supportive here at LBT and it was very sweet of you to apologize. You will learn a lot here and if you have questions, this is the best place to get a quick answer. I am glad you did not leave!

I will pray that you have an easy recovery just like I did! -
I only have one very embarrassing moment, thank goodness. I was moving into a new apartment and I was trying to hook up the cable. I had the door open and a extremely cute guy was in the parking lot. I asked him if he knew how to hook up cable cause I was having trouble. He came in and stood there for a few seconds before looking at the tv. All of a sudden, I felt the gas coming on. I tried my best to hold it in. It was the loudest longest fart and the guy just kind of ran out of the room. I was really glad I didn't know him when I shut the door.

Yea, I have been following that thread. I was wondering when WasA was going to chime in. That is her biggest pet peeve. -
Thanks for posting the link. I liked that song, and I don't usually like RAP. I like the chorus a lot! I gotta get me some of those jeans.

Is that the one where all the people who have had their bands for a long time are telling her it's not okay? FaithMD wrote a great post about why the post op diet is necessary. Then they got mad because one of the moderators told her not to cheat on the liquid diet. They said the moderators shouldn't be telling them what to do. The mod said I am a mod but also have a band. It's like a big war now. -

I was just at my support group for a couple of hours and my surgeon was there to answer questions. He said the rates of slips are increasing daily and he can only attribute that to the fact that some doctors are advancing the diets before the band has the chance to heal on the stomach. I paid a lot of money for my band but that is not the reason I stayed on a liquid diet for 4 weeks. It was because I had read this board for hours and hours before I had my surgery. I was too afraid I would lose my band a few years from now. This band is such a gift. I never thought I would see myself in these sizes ever again. I would pay the money over again if I had to, but what if my band could not be replaced? I never want to be fat again! -

Phyll, you should pm me and I will give you my phone #. It's not even long distance from Myrtle Point! Welcome Tami! Janet, I didn't even know your grandson lives with you. I don't think I could live with a teenager anymore. I had the best time at support group tonight. My surgeon came and answered questions all evening. He is so great. He talked all about bowel obstructions. Didn't even know that was a possibility with the band, but he said it's from scar tissue. -
Georgia Girl, you poor thing. I would have been mortified. I got some cranberry capsules today. I used to take them all the time but then my dr. put me on a low dose of antibiotics which I have taken for years. I can only assume my body has built up a tolerance to them. Good think I don't have a bf or DH. I used to get a UTI every time I had sex. (okay I know TMI again) All Boys, stay out of this thread!

I don't even know if my BMI was considered low. I didn't go to Mexico because my dr. charged 10,000 and I didn't think with airfare and fills it would be worth it even save 3,000.00. I live 5 min from my surgeon, and it's just much more convenient for me. Plus, I love my surgeon. He came to support group tonight and answered questions all evening. He is WONDERFUL! The only way I would have gone to Mexico would be if I lived in Southern CA. AudricIan, I am so glad you are doing better. I was worried about you! You may not need to get any more fills the way you're going!

yay! Alex weighed in (no pun intended ) I can't wait to see the final results. Although, on my computer, I can't even see Apple lady. I can only see it when I am on somebody else's computer.

I think it's just hilarious that we all sit here and talk about this. Does she not have a clue? Oh and I can't remember who asked, but yes, once I went in for a fill and totally lost all my fill. Dr. pulled out what was in there, and must have missed the port when he put it back in. I went back in a few days and he said "you have no saline" I told him "why do you think I am back here?" I don't have a leak, cause I am at my sweet spot now. So yes, it does happen. How it happens is still a mystery to me. Maybe I should have a fill so I can get to goal by puking and becoming malnourished.
