Isn't it great? I haven't been this weight in 25 years! I never thought I would see size 10 ever again!

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...

WasA can explain a sleeve better than I can. Basically, they go in and make your stomach smaller so you can only hold a small amount of food. I would like to have it done, and I would definitely do it if something went wrong with my band. -

Practically the only place I go these days is Lap Band Talk! I am not one to go surfing the net. I also check my email at charter which is the cable company I have my internet though. I have a virus protector and a spy ware protector running all the time too. Do you think I still need to clean it out? -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I was on liquids for 4 weeks, mushies 4 weeks, no fresh fruit or vegetables including lettuce until after 8 weeks. I would imagine lettuce and other fresh fruit and veggies are harder for the stomach to digest. -

Hey I could start a new thread about this, but what the heck. WasA brought up a point and I don't want to go back through the pages to quote be able to her. I believe what she said was in her heart she doesn't think that the band will be around forever. Someone else said they have never had tests done and maybe she/he should because they have vomited previously. I am sorry if I am quoting someone wrong. It's past midnight and I really should go back and find the exact quotes. My point is, I am a worrier. I have never had any tests done either. My friend had a 5 bypass heart surgery. Her husband had knee replacements. Both of their doctors said to expect their surgeries to last 10 years. I watch that big medicine show and someone was having complications and they could not even find the band. So, in 10 years, are we all going to have to have our bands replaced? I am in the same boat as everyone else. I love my band and what it has done for me. But I sure wish I personally knew someone who has had a band when they first started banding people so that I could ask them if they are still complication free. My dr. said he thought in other countries they started banding people in the late 80's. -

How much weight did you lose in the first month?
Oregondaisy replied to Brandy~'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 22 lbs the first month while I was on the post op liquid diet. I didn't do a preop diet. I don't remember how much I lost while I was on the mushies but I know it was just a few lbs. I did plateau awhile when I went to solids. I haven't gained anything back since I have been banded. -
I probably loved diagramming sentences because it was one of the things I was good at. I had tutors in Algebra and still would have failed it if the teacher hadn't just taken pity on me.

Why do we need to clean the cache? I like being able to get stuff back without having to enter things over again. -
It's definitely true that people gain their weight back. I know a lady that had the bypass surgery. She weighed 425 lbs. and got down to 145 and had all the plastic surgery to remove skin from her stomach, arms and thighs. Now she is over 300 lbs again. Speed Racer, I am sorry about your left sided pain. I do know some people that have had their bands removed because of left sided shoulder pain, but I have never heard of anyone that still has pain on their left side any place other than in the shoulder. Best of luck on whatever decision you make.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Oregondaisy replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's a polite way of saying throwing up. It stand for productive burp. Sometimes when you burp, food comes with it. Sometimes, it's all out puking. It is to be avoided if possible. -

I haven't been on much because I can't tear myself away from my new grandson. He's 3 days old now. Met with my trainer today and that is always one of my favorite days. I love working out with him. -
Yay! that's such good news. It's such a good feeling to be able to buy the clothes that we want and not be stuck in plus sizes.

I know I was getting plenty of Protein. That's something I have always been very careful about. Dr. Watkins who used to post on Lap Band Talk, said it's from rapid weight loss. I lost 22 lbs the first month and 13 lbs during the 9th month. I did everything everyone told me to do. Make sure I was getting enough protein, took Biotin and good Vitamins, etc. I think it just stops when it decides to. You can do a search on hair loss and see what everyone else has tried. Everyone pretty much decides that it stops when it wants to.

Do you think that you would get a better feeling if we talked on the phone? I am having a hard time figuring out this new way to send private messages.

Yeah, I use firefox too and I never have any problems. I seem to be the only one who sees neither BBK or Apple lady. I see big ads for bariatric surgery centers. they change daily. -
Can I hear from the self pays please?
Oregondaisy replied to pschmolle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My daughter did a one year physician monitored diet to be approved for gastric bypass. One week she would lose 2 lbs the next week she gained it back, and this went on the entire year. She was approved after a year. All she did was go to the dr. and get weighed. -
For some people, there is no weight loss without exercise. I know I would be one of those people. I exercised and basically ate the same way I am eating now, for 3 years and lost no weight. I got the band which makes my portions much smaller, so I was able to lose weight. If I didn't exercise at all, I am sure I would not have lost anywhere close to what I have lost. If you are throwing up, you do need to chew more, take smaller bites and wait a long time before taking another bite. If that's not helping, then yes, you need a little bit taken out. Not so much that you can eat as much as you want though.

Thank you! It was the most beautiful thing, watching him come into this world. It was horrible to watch her in pain until they gave her that epidural though. -

I can barely text. My kids laugh at me. My phone does not make it easy. I get to the letter I want and press the key and some other letter comes up. It's maddening. -

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, that is all normal after surgery and for most people it only lasts about a week. The liquid diet can be hard to get used to, but as soon as you're able to eat mushy food and not be as hungry, everyone has been thrilled with their band for the most part. -
I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yaz, make sure you take itty bitty tiny bites at first and chew until it's liquid and you'll be fine. You'll be so happy when the scale starts moving down and you're buying littler clothes! -
Pain when you eat?
Oregondaisy replied to Playful Psychic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I am in agreement with everyone else. If you are close to your doctor, go in and get a tiny amount out. Some people don't want to make the trip if they have to drive a long ways to get to their doctor. They try to wait it out, by eating eraser sized bites, chewing until it's liquid, and drinking Protein drinks. Sometimes that works, and the fill will loosen on it's own. If you don't have to pay for fills and unfills, and it's not inconvenient to get to your doctor, have a bit taken out.
