That's the great thing about this site. If you don't like a thread, there are plenty more to go and find a happy place. We are a really good bunch, and it's easy to ignore anyone who brings us down.

thanks again. It's not like I am leaving LBT! I will be around 4 ever and anyone can always send me a pm. I am subscribed to so many threads, it's getting hard for me to keep up. You know, it's funny how we are all so different. I probably had 8 fills to even feel like I had a band. I have heard of people throwing up after a couple of fills and that's how they lost all their weight. I got so discouraged and I am very lucky that my doctor is only 5 min from my house. I don't know if I would have ever been able to be perfectly restricted if I had to drive some big long distance to get adjusted.

That makes me feel better Susan. You are obviously very intelligent. My teacher gave me plenty of attention and could tell I was really trying. He knew there was no hope of me understanding it though. It really showed up when I had kids that everyone has their area where they shine. My daughter really had trouble with Math and excelled everywhere else. My son went all the way through calculus but couldn't write a paragraph to save his life.

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...

Hey what do you all think about letting this thread die a natural death and start a new conversation in the lap band lounge? It could be lap band vs. gastric bypass. I would like to see this thread not get anymore attention. -
afraid to give away "fat clothes"????
Oregondaisy replied to lonestar5212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I still have all my clothes. I have the entire upstairs empty so it's not like I don't have room for them. I keep thinking the band is too good to be true. I am such a worrier. I hear of people with complications that lose their bands. I am pretty much to the point now that if something went wrong with my band, I would convert to another surgery. -

I haven't eaten fast foods much at all since banding, but I do fix really easy things at home. Plus I will buy one of those already cooked chickens and will eat off that all week. lazy, that's me. -
Was anyone banded in December of '06?
Oregondaisy replied to thebionicbroad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hope you don't think I am putting you down for not exercising enough. I had the opposite problem. I had a hard time getting good restriction, so I had to exercise. It took me probably 8 fills before I felt like I even had a band. Some people are very sensitive to fills. It sounds like you are for sure. If you think getting a tiny one would make you start sliming again, you know your body. I wish I could be of more help. -
I hate it when people post just to post.....

AAHHH totally get you on the is it going to stay that way. The band still seems like a dream come true for me. Too good to be true!:blushing: -
I didn't read the entire thread because I am completely tired of the entire issue, but I agree Elisabeth. I would hate LBT to become just like another WLS board where members do so much mud slinging. That is why I liked LBT so much when I came here. I liked it here because it was DIFFERENT!

You're so good about cooking for yourself. I am so lazy. I hate to cook just for me. They say the best thing for cholesterol is oats. So eating oat meal is a great thing! I was born lucky. I have low cholesterol. I take after my dad. -
Thanks! Hey my son is getting married in August! I just noticed your's is getting married too!

I wish it was working for me. I can't seem to get enough fiber. I put fiber one in my yogurt, eat all the Kashi (Kashi Crunch is my fav.) cereals, I put fiber in water and drink it, eat fruit, bla bla and I am still constipated! It's driving me insane! -

I have had some hair loss but none of the other problems you mentioned. I am sure that I would have skin issues if I lost more weight than I did. Maybe you should continue to eat well until your hair skin and nails are better, then go for a tiny fill. If you have loose skin, more than likely only PS will help that. I don't know what you mean about being dedicated enough to exercise. I exercise 5-6 days a week. I am sure I would have never lost all of my weight if I was not dedicated to my exercise. -
I am going to unsubscribe to this thread since I have finally made it to goal. I can tell anyone who feels they are losing too slowly that if it's possible, to get a resting metabolic test. That made a huge difference for me. The dr. did the test. I was hooked up to a computer for 20 min. I wasn't allowed to exercise for 48 before the test. I had to have it done at 8am. I had my nose pinched shut and breathed in and out through my mouth slowly into a tube. The computer print out said that just sitting there not moving, I was only burning 1,000 calories per day. That told me to lose weight, I needed to eat less than that plus exercise. When I went on a long plateau, I put myself back on the liquid diet for a week and lost 5 lbs. Other than that, my dr. likes us to follow 75% protein and 25% veggies and fruit. That's how I made it to goal in a little under 16 months. There were months I lost nothing, and I never lost 2 lbs every week. Good luck to everyone. I will probably stay on the slow losers banded over a year thread.

yes, it's very frustrating. I was just starting to not lose as much, and it started up again. When I counted back, it was from Sept. when I lost 13 lbs. The docs all say it starts the 4th month after surgery.

Actually, South Beach is pretty much the way I eat. I am glad I learned the difference between good carbs and bad. South Beach is a pretty healthy way to eat. Low fat, fruits veggies. I remember being on Atkins and thinking fruit was bad. I am happy strawberries are back. As for the dry heat, I always go to AZ in the summer. It's so cold here in the summer, I look forward to a little bit of summer. I wouldn't want to live there full time, but it beats the heat I put up with all the years I lived in Chicago. -
How do you handle an 8 month plateau?

It's very true that our bodies get used to the same routine and exercise needs to be changed. My trainer tells me this every time I see him. -

Thanks Janet for all the good wishes. I honestly feel no different. I am not able to get into any smaller pants. I am thrilled to be in these sizes, and that I can basically eat anything I want without pbing or sliming anymore. It's taken a long time to learn how to eat banded, but now it's just a way of life. I am sure I will always go up and down a few lbs, cause I end up eating dessert on the weekends unless I just stay home all weekend. That is no fun! -
I haven't asked my dr. about an unfill fo rmaintenance. I know I would gain weight if I got any taken out. I don't count calories as closely anymore. I know what causes me to gain weight. I go by the scale. I know if I eat sweets of any kind, I will gain, and it's the same thing with too many carbs. Usually, if I go out to dinner at a nice place on the weekend, I will gain a couple of lbs. I go back to my usual way of eating during the week, and it comes off. I seriously doubt I will lose any more weight unless I got another fill. I don't want to do that, since I don't eat much now. I can eat a small piece of meat and a little bit of veggies and I am full. I don't want to eat less than that. I have a piece of fruit for a snack, or some yogurt or string cheese. That's about how I eat every day.

Baggio, that was very well said. I am sorry Headhunter had a bad experience. I have had a wonderful experience with the band. My recovery was next to nothing. I can eat anything I want, just in small portions. I don't throw up, or get food stuck so I feel I am avoiding complications. I never had a port infection. Life in bandland is GREAT! I would like to think that all the LBT members wish him the best with his future. If he is getting the band removed, perhaps the best place for him to continue to post would be "life without the band" I think everyone should move on and let this thread die a natural death. -

See if your doctor can do a resting metabolic test. I had one done and found out in order for me to lose, I need to stick to 1,000 calories per day. I have a very slow metabolism. -

BBk, do you not see it when you look at the picture up on top of this page? Your waist is TINY! -
I can't lose unless I eat 1,000 calories per day or less. I wasn't losing at all and my dr. did a resting metabolic test on me which told me exactly how many calories I need per day to keep losing. PLus, I exercise 6 days a week.

janet, you'll have to pm me your email address so I can send the pictures. I don't even know how to post pictures but my daughter did a slide show that I have learned to forward. You are lucky you can eat such a variety and still lose weight. My weight loss completely stalls or I gain if I eat starches. (not counting fruits or veggies) -

I have a really hard time getting veggies in too. They say protein first but if I do that, I have no room for veggies at all. Carbs cause me to gain weight immediately. I eat high fiber cereal before I go to the gym and that seems to be okay. If I eat anything like rice or potatoes, I will gain a few lbs immediately.
