A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I sure don't . I have been writing to a couple of guys from Match but they sure don't seem to want to meet. It's annoying. -
My dad is 89 also and he is almost impossible to shop for. People buy him food gifts and he just lets them rot. It would be great if you could go there and spend time with him. Take him to dinner or something like that. My dad loves to go to the movies but it's impossible unless he has someone hold onto him while he walks. I am going there to visit him in about a week. It's very hard to be so far away from someone you love and aren't sure how long they will be around. I know I wasn't very helpful, but I just wanted you to know I sure understand how hard it is.

All I can say is that bras suck. I thought that losing weight would make me want to wear cute clothes and a good bra is very important when you aren't wearing baggy clothes. I am at goal and I still hate bras just as much. I am not very large chested, and I have never found one that I can actually say is comfortable.

Why does Hahn hate Christina so much anyway?

Volunteer work is a great way to meet people. There are clubs that do good deeds for the community. Do you exercise? I spend half my morning at the gym so that takes care of half of the day. I have a part time job, and find I eat more at work than I do at home!

I have had some long plateaus. Do you exercise? I would never have been able to make it to goal without exercise.

High altitude.Does it effect band?
Oregondaisy replied to rebellerina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it definitely does. Every time I fly, I have to go on liquids for a couple of days. The last time, I was up all night with problems I normally don't have. I have heard from other people they have problems every time they fly. -

My daughter knocked out her two front teeth when she was 7. They weren't even in there very long! I have thousands and thousands of $$$ in getting her front teeth right. She was too young for implants when it happened. I am glad implants were available when she was finally old enough. She has beautiful front teeth now. -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome to all the new people! You're all going to love bandland! I am really lucky that I don't have a skin problem anywhere but my arms too. I am with you Janet. I wish I could wear shorter sleeves. It seems the cute younger looking tops sleeves are just too short. I bought a top over the weekend, at Macy's. I think I am going to take it back. I decided it looks like an old lady top. -
Restriction - Refresh my memory! :-) (long)
Oregondaisy replied to Bel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You're welcome. Don't ever be afraid to ask questions. We bandsters get more information here, sometimes, than we get from our doctors. We learn from each other. So, what I am getting out of your post is that you are completely unfilled right now, right? Are you planning to get a fill? Normally, depending on how you react to fills, you should be okay with one day of liquids and one day of mushies after a fill. Then just eat slowly and see how it's going. If you're chewing until it's liquid, and taking very small bites, and still having problems, you might have too big of a fill. Feel free to send me a private message any time. -
Good idea Terry.
-
I am glad for you too. Being unfilled is way better than losing the band. You were very smart to go to the emergency room.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't even remember the last time I pbed. I only did that when I was too tight. If you have the right fill, chew well and take small bites, it should not be a problem. -
I would be lost without the Atkins bars. They only have 150 calories so I think that's pretty good. I have a hard time with that net carb vs. carbs. I wonder if that net carb really matters. It's a difference between 2 carbs and 15 so it would be nice to know which to count.

Oh I thought Pb stood for puking bandster. Sheesh, you would think I would know that by now. I have been banned over a year now. Is red crab the same as dungeous crab? That's what we have here in Oregon. I LOVE it. I can eat a lot of it, even though I am banned. -

No way! Posting just to post is the way to go. I used to hate oysters but I tried them off the BBQ dipped in butter and garlic. Not bad. Must not be fattening either. I ate a lot of them and didn't gain anything. -

I decided I didn't want a ticker in there anymore. It just reminds me that even though I am at 145, my bmi is still in the overweight category. My trainer keeps telling me I have 10 lbs of muscle, and I feel like I look like I weigh less than 145. I haven't figured out yet what to put there instead. I am not fond of those huge glittery signatures either. -

I recently tried oysters. -
You need to see how this is going to work itself out. Sometimes fills will loosen on their own. If you start pbing every day, and you know that you are taking eraser sized bites and chewing until it's liquid, then get some taken out. It may loosen on it's own. Make sure you wait in between bites and that they are very small bites.

Is a Smoothie considered a liquid following a fill??
Oregondaisy replied to Looking Up's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor just says liquids. He never said clear. I think if he wanted clear, he would have said so. I think a smoothie is fine. Blend it up so you don't have big chunks of anything though. -
If You Were An Emotion Eater Before Lapband Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am an emotional eater too. I keep the 100 calorie packs of things around for those times when I just plain want to eat even if I am not hungry. That and sugar free fudgesicles. When you lose weight and are wearing smaller sizes, it really helps. All I have to do is think about shopping in the plus sizes again, and I think eating this or that just isn't worth it. I make sure to keep all junk food out of the house. -
Reading a lot of negative feedback, any regrets?
Oregondaisy replied to AMLP's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No regrets for me either.I haven't worn a size 10 in 25 years. If you don't feel restriction, get another fill. You always have to remember there is a fat pad around the stomach. As we lose weight, that fat pad melts off and the band becomes looser. Dealing with head hunger is another issue. I am never hungry, but I have these feelings that I want a snack. I buy the 100 calorie pack things and those work well for me. Evenings are the worse. I can go all day and never feel hungry, but in the evening, I get to thinking "what can I eat." I usually end up with a sugar free fudgesicle. -
Restricted in day, wide open at night - to fill or not to fill?
Oregondaisy replied to AnnJ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good idea. It's so common for people to be tight in the morning and loose at night. I will be anxious to hear what your doctor has to say. I hope they are able to figure this out because so many people talk about this situation. -
Yes, it's very good that you brought this up. Being too tight is dangerous and that's what leads to problems down the road. If we want to keep our bands and not end with another surgery for a slip or even worse, band removal, we can't be too tight. My surgeon just came to support group and said he has to do so many surgeries on people who kept their bands too tight for too long. It causes complications. Having too tight of a band is not the road to weight loss, necessarily. You'll lose weight all right, but you could lose your band too.
