Pretty Darned Tight, Too Tight?
Oregondaisy replied to ssdown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll have to watch it. It's never a good idea to keep a fill too tight for too long. People will actually find they don't lose as well eating only soft foods. See if your band loosens in a few days. If it doesn't, you should consider getting a tiny amount out. It may loosen up on it's own in a few days though. -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been eating very badly. This whole situation I have going on here- trying to sell all of my dad's things and trying to do some upgrades to the house to try to get it sold in this bad market has been very stressful for me. No matter what I do, my dad is not happy with it anyway. There is so much stuff here to try to sell, I just don't know how it's going to be possible to the the house put on the market. I just don't have as much time as is really needed to get everything done. Of course I have been eating all wrong and I am sure I am going to have to pay for it when I get back to Oregon. I do go to the gym, but it's even hard to carve out a small amount of time to do that. It's so depressing knowing my dad's health is failing and can't do any of this himself. He needs the money from the sale of his house to pay for assisted living. I hope I don't gain too much weight but at least I know with the band how to take it back off. It's terrible that when I am so stressed, those comfort foods are all I think about. -

Yes, that is what bandsters call pbing. productive burp. It is more like vomittting. You need to cut your food up into tiny pieces and chew very well. Wait in between bites to see how it's sitting before you try another piece. Vomitting is not good for the band. It can cause complications down the road. Try to chew until it's liquid in your mouth before swallowing. -

Sounds like you might have a port infection. I think you should tell your dr. -
Pouch dilation vs. under-filled
Oregondaisy replied to want2bmeagain's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
More than likely, you need a fill. As you lose weight, you lose the fat pad around your stomach and the band loosens. Once you get very close to goal, this won't happen anymore. Have you read Wendall Edward's post? It's something like "how the band works, fills and unfills." It's a sticky somewhere on the main page but you can do a search under hsi name. -
You probably have degenerated discs. I have that and so many people do. I take Celebrex and it has helped. My doc says it's ok to take as long as I take it with plenty of Water to make sure it goes through the band.

That is so cool! I have horrible insomnia and my dr. always wants me to go to a sleep clinic. I tell him I am not going to pay thousands of $$$ to sleep in a strange place when I can't even sleep in my own bed. I do all those things too. If anyone has any good tips to sleep though the night, I would love to hear them. Since menopause, I can't fall asleep and if I do, I wake up in a couple of hours and can't go back to sleep. I hate it!:confused2:

Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello all, I haven't been able to get online the past few days while I am out of town. The way I have always gotten back on track is to go back to the liquid diet. I will probably have to do that when I get back from this trip. That's the great thing about the band and the sweet spot. I can easily do a week of liquids because I am really not hungry. Being out of town I have been eating out more than usual. Janet, I am so happy for you! I love working out with weights. I am sure that's what helped me get to goal too. Congratulations! -

Haven't you ever heard of chicken fried fish? -
Really, I can eat anything I want. I used to have trouble with certain foods, but my band must be looser now. My portions are small, but I can eat pretty much anything. I am glad I am at goal or I would have to get a fill to keep losing. I am sure that all the exercise I do helps. I try not to eat bread, but if I go out to eat, that nice sourdough crusty bread calls my name. Last night I had pizza which I haven't had in a long time, but my cousin wanted to stop for pizza after picking me up from the airport. I always eat differently when I am on vacation. I am going to have to be really careful not to gain while I am on this trip because what I gain in a week will take a month to take off.

A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I finally met one of the guys from Match. I thought he was cute but our personalites just didn't click. It seems like the other two I was emailing with have disappeared. I know that more likely the reason one of them stopped writing was I kept asking for a picture. I am done meeting people that I have never even seen a picture of. The other one claims to be very busy. Why they bothered putting a profile on a dating site if they are too busy to mee,t but would rather keep emailing, is beyone me. -

Janet, I have been wondering where you were! I am flying out tomorrow. I think I leave Portland around 2:00 and get into Phoenix around 4:00 Will be flying home the 22nd. I wish I could say it was going to be fun, but I know cleaning out my dad's house and getting rid of everything is going to be anything but fun. I am not worried about the garage sale part of it, it's all the left over junk. I will probably just get a dumpster. -

Isn't that the truth. I get really annoyed at those little kids that come to my door selling things. You hate to say no to them when they are trying to get to camp or whatever. At the same time, I would rather donate because I want to, rather than because I feel guilty when some cute little kid is starring at me and I have to say no. Now that you mention it, I think it's great that Target doesn't allow soliciting in front of their stores. I hate saying no to any of those people in front of any stores too. -

I certainly don't want this to become any kind of political debate but at least Hillary and Obama keep saying they want to bring our troops home. I sure hope this doesn't bring on a republican/democrat flurry of posters. I just want our troops home where they belong! -

I am originally from Chicago but I would really miss Oregon is I ever left here! Yea, We are a chatty bunch of over 50's here! I am going to unsubscribe to all my threads except this one. I am going to Arizona for about 2 1/2 weeks. I have to use the library computer and I only get an hour. I am kind of excited that I am going to meet up with 4 other people I found on the Arizona thread and have a mini lap band support meeting! -

I thought maybe I needed a fill. I was careless this evening with my chewing and got my dinner stuck. That hasn't happened in so long. I am glad in a way, even though it was so painful, because I really was debating on whether or not I needed a fill. It really showed me that the band is in control and I need to eat like a bandster, even though I have been at my sweet spot for so long. -

I have always been afraid that Walmart is going to put our Kmart out of business. K Mart was smart to buy Sears. Now that they carry Craftsman tools, they are more popular here. They are stupid though in that they quit putting the ads in the paper. People go to buy things on sale. It still makes me so mad that their parking lot is empty. I think Walmart here is so busy because people can buy everything at once. It is kind of nice not to have to go grocery shopping separately anymore. I am going to think twice after seeing that documentary though. My daughter was involved in a class action law suit against Walmart because they actually make people work after their shifts end without overtime. They get all these tax breaks but the little guys that own mom and pop stores get no tax breaks at all. I wish everyone could see that documentary. I do love Kohls too but we don't have one here. They put a Kohls in where the KMart closed where my dad lives, so I go there when I go to visit him in Arizona which I will be doing next week. Then I will be stuck on the library computers again for over 2 weeks and that's hard when I have a LBT addiction! -
Why is it so easy to fall back into the bad habits????
Oregondaisy replied to mstrina27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry. When you have good restriction it will be a lot harder to mess up. Once the weight starts coming off really well and you are in sizes you never thought you would ever see again, it's easier to remember you don't want those bad habits in your life anymore. I can have a day where I have been craving ice cream for days and I go ahead and have it. I get one scoop at Baskin and Robbins and usually will gain 2 lbs from it. That scares me half to death and I go back to my good banster foods remembering that I don't ever want to buy bigger clothes again. -
I don't have a problem with that. It's such a habit now to wait. Sometimes I wonder though if it's an hour from when I start eating or when I stop.

I thought I needed a fill. As I sit here sliming because of careless chewing, I decided I don't need one at all. I haven't been stuck in a long time. We don't have a Target here. We do have K Mart and it always surprises me how empty their parking lot is and that at Walmart it's such a chore to find a place to park. -
I can eat every single one of those foods on that list. I do have a problem with getting enough fiber in my diet. I do drink more than 64 oz of Water per day. It's a big problem in my life and would love to know what others do about it.

Wow! I watched a documentary tonight about Walmart, and how horrible they are to their employees. It also told all about how the people that make their clothes get paid about $3 per day working from 7am until 10 pm in china and other countries. It was sad. What is also sad, is there are hardly any other stores in this town. -
Since I have been banded over a year, I constantly struggle with constipation. My portions are so small, it's hard to get the fruits and veggies in. I am supposed to eat Protein first and I have little room left over for anything else. I snack on fruit in between meals and put some Fiber in prune juice in the morning, as well as eat a high fiber Cereal in the morning, but it's an on going problem. I would love to hear everyone else's suggestions. I have done the benefiber and it does nothing.

Is It Harder To Lose With A Low Bmi?
Oregondaisy replied to REDGIRL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think having a lower bmi and if you are in your 50's it does make a difference. Our metabolisms slow down as we get older. I was sometimes amazed at how little I could eat, how much I exercised, and how slowly I lost weight. It wasn't until I had a resting metabolic test taken that I knew how many calories and how much exercise I needed to continue to lose. -

I am very sorry for your loss. I have only two very close friends and one recently had a 5 by pass heart surgery. I was very afraid I was going to lose her. It's scary to think we are getting to the age that we will start losing friends. My heart goes out to you Teresa.
