I haven't had any problems what so ever. It was kind of hard to load last week, but no problems since then!

Sliming for 24 Hours -- starting to panic!!
Oregondaisy replied to SkiGirlDenver's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't get why you can't still do the South Beach Diet. That diet is very band friendly. In fact, there is an old thread around here for people on the South Beach Diet. You could do a thread search and find it. Sliming is more that your mouth fills up with Water and you have to spit it out. Swallowing it is the worse thing because there is more to follow. It is thicker than water, but it happens when food is stuck. It's your body's way of getting the stuck food to go down. I don't think cream soup could get stuck. It would go right through the band. -

I have little trouble when eating alone....
Oregondaisy replied to TerriDoodle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sometimes I go for a very long time without any trouble. Then I get careless and not chew enough and take too big of bites. Getting stuck once every few weeks reminds me to be careful. As long as I take very tiny bites and chew it up until it's liquid in my mouth, I am fine. I am better at remembering to do this after a pb episode. -
My trainer is fabulous. He has been a personal trainer for over 20 years and has all sorts of degrees and certifications. He has told me over and over again people can't do their weight training in proper form if they do their cardio first. You are supposed to warm up on a treadmill or something first, but I am bad about that. I am always on a time limit and I would rather do my weight training slowly and carefully and see how much time is left over afterwards for cardio. There are days when I get plenty of cardio when I don't use the weights.

A thread for Single Bandsters

you can buy those sugar free syrups that they make coffee drinks with too, to put in protein drinks. The raspberry in the chocolate drink is really good! -
When I feel like complaining about being a slow loser, I remember that I would be way heavier by now if I hadn't gotten the band.

I did pretty well today. I had a protein drink for breakfast, salad for lunch and fish for dinner. I am so bad at making food for myself, that I didn't make anything to go with the fish. I could never stay away from the scale! -
There are recipes on the food section of this board. There is also someone trying to gather recipes to make a cook book.

The powdered peanut butter comes in a jar. Good stuff! I found some peanut butter chocolate protein drink mix that is fabulous too! -
I do my strength training in addition to the days I do my cardio. On the days I do weights, I do them first and cardio after. This is how my trainer told me it's supposed to be done. Some days I do cardio only.

Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating it is not to see the scale move when you think it should. Like I said, if you stay on track and not "fall off the wagon" the scale will eventually move.

I miss the gym too if I miss more than one day. It's amazing, I think, to go from hating to exercise to missing it. BBK you look so great! I am so glad it's your picture we see at the top of the screen every day. No more apple girl! -
Anything crispy will go right through. It's the doughy stuff that people have trouble with. Bread, tortillas, etc. I also don't understand why some people have trouble with meat. If I take little bites and chew until it's liquid in my mouth, I can eat just about anything.

Isn't that Chinese food? I eat the BBQ pork at Chinese places. This sleepy little town in the middle of nowhere doesn't have PF Changs. I had a protein drink for dinner again today. I had peanuts at work. I know they aren't as bad as some stuff for carbs, but I still should have stayed away from them. -

LJM, that's too bad. You know, I have never even tried a tortilla. I am assuming you mean the doughy kind. I have eaten the crispy cooked ones. -

Most people don't notice very much difference with the first fill. You should be just fine. -
Building muscle helps you burn more calories even when you are sitting around. Changing the routine is necessary because the body gets too used to what we are doing. If you can afford a trainer, it's an excellent idea. I love my trainer and I look forward to working out with him. I think joining a gym is a good idea too. I would never exercise even if I had the equipment in my house. I need to leave the house and go to the gym for some reason. And I do love the classes.

You need another fill. If you ate steak, potato, and dessert, you need a fill. Now as for the Cookies, they go right through the band. The band does take a lot of willpower against the junk food. The junk food goes through the band the easiest. I found with the right fill though, I didn't want the junk food because I felt so full all the time.

I don't have any recipes but would love to have some new things to try. There is a website FatBlog.Org - Weight Loss Surgery Forum - Index that has some good recipes posted as a sticky.

I was happy to see the scale move down a couple lbs after only one day. It would be nice if I could actually lose more than the 5 lbs I gained on vacation. The way I was eating, I am surprised I only gained 5. That makes me think if I eat right now, maybe I can lose a little extra. -

You know, after being banded for quite awhile now, it's pretty easy. I was a newcomer at some point too, and everything I learned, I learned from this board and very little from anywhere else. I am glad things are going better for you! -

Sadie, those are all fabulous things on your list. The band really does work if we do our part. I wish the ice cream didn't go down as easily. That's what I crave and give into eventually. At least now it's only occasionally rather than on a regular basis.
