  1. I burp all the time. I burp constantly. Tonight my daughter told me my burping is really bothering her because it's so loud. I can only conclude that there is something about the band that traps air. Every time I take a drink of Water ( I never drink anything but water) I burp about 3 times. I have friends that are banded and they say they burp all the time too. Sorry, I don't have any advice. It's something that seems to go with being banded.

    protein pudding

Someone, I think it was Ghost, posted a recipe to make protein pudding. I think it was to use slim fast instead of milk in the sugar free fat free dry pudding mix, but I can't remember for sure. Does anyone have this recipe?

Say No To Carbs 2 Day Challenge...come Join Me

It's a big problem alright. A lot of people take stool softners or milk of mag. every day. I eat prunes. I can't go completely low carb because I can't take the constipation. You need to try to eat veggies too. I know they say protein first, but sometimes I eat the veggies first so I make sure to get some veggies in.

    Confused....

Sometimes it takes about 3 fills to really start losing well. Just remember the band is a learning experience. Weight loss isn't necessarily fast with the lap band. It usually is right after surgery on the post op diet, and then slows down or stops until you get good restriction which can take several fills.

Question for those with good restriction

There are a lot of things that can cause you to be tighter on some days that others. Stress is known to make the band tighter. Most women also say they are tighter during their time of the month. A lot of people are much tighter earlier in the day than in the evenings. If you are throwing up, you should give your stomach a rest and stay on liquids or mushies for a couple of days. Throwing up causes swelling inside which makes the band tighter. Are you sure you are taking itty bitty bites and chewing until it's liquid in your mouth?

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I have been reading the new posts. I had to post here just to post. Have you heard that expression "the things that make you go hmmmm''

    Confused....

Do a thread search on bandser hell. Everyone goes through this. Just do the best you can with your food choices until you get a fill. Your band isn't doing the job it's intended to do without any fill. Try to fill up on Protein and stay away from things like noodles, rice, bread, etc and you shouldn't be as hungry. Once you start to get regular fills, you will start losing!

    New Tactic

I have done that before actually several times. I always went on long plateaus and when I got fed up enough, I would go back to the liquid protien diet for a week and drop 5 lbs. It's hard the first couple of days but after that, I never minded it. Sometimes it's easier than counting calories and trying to figure out what to eat.

when I eat meat, I cut it into little slivers. Then I chew it up until it's liquid in my mouth. I can eat any kind of meat that way. Sorry Georgia girl, I don't want to gross you out!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

You are welcome. That's what we are here for. When I was first banded, I spent hours and hours on this board. Now I am happy to answer any questions anyone might have. Living with the band is a learning process.

    Wishful thinking - eating out

If you are talking about me, I have had my band almost a year and a half.

    What's normal at this stage?

You will find once you get a good fill that cold isn't so good for your band. Cold tightens the band and warm things help the food go through. Once when I was too tight, I had a bite of ice cream and it felt like someone was squeezing my stomach so hard I wanted to cry. Luckily I had a cup of warm Water close by. I can eat ice cream now though. does that sugar free ice cream give you gas? A lot of that sugar free stuff gives me horrible gas. That sweetener they use (malitol or sugar alcohol) causes horrible gas.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Somebody on the Big Medicine thread said that the Learning Channel is taking Big Medicine off the air. I am bummed. I thought about going to the TLC webs site and complaining. I am doing good this week. I haven't been eating anything after dinner and night time is usually my big problem. I did have a sugar free popcicle tonight though. I am trying to even cut back on the sugar free stuff too. I think my body does not know the difference between sugar and sugar free. I need to let my body just forget about sweets almost completely if it's possible. Good luck to all our new bandsters! It's a learning process at first, for sure, but eventually it just becomes routine.

    need advice

Sounds to me like you need to have a slight unfill. hamburger is usually bandster friendly. A lot of people have trouble with steak, or chicken breast, because they are dry meats.

Say No To Carbs 2 Day Challenge...come Join Me

You gals are too funny. I am a night owl too. I am hoping that if I lose enough weight, I will have someone in my life that has "those ideas" I do so much better on the days I don't have to work. I only have good things in this house. The other girl at work popped popcorn and it wasn't even light. I had several handfuls. What is wrong with me. Breakfast, Atkins drink Lunch ham rolled up with lite cream cheese spread on it dinner chicken and green beans. Don't know how many carbs were in those handfuls of pop corn. I need to commit to a week of protein drinks. I can't seem to do it anymore. I think I could get below my goal if I could get my head into it.

    What's normal at this stage?

It's funny but I definitely don't like my water cold. At home I warm it up in the microwave, and when I am eating out, I always tell them no ice.

    Wishful thinking - eating out

I always tell the waitress that I want Water with no ice. I am able to drink right up until the food comes. I am single and I eat out all the time. There are so many things that are banster friendly. A lot of times I will ask for extra veggies instead of potato. Unfortunately, I can eat bread. I usually choose not to, but sometimes that bread basket calls my name. I can actually eat anything I want to, as long as I am very careful with the size of my bites and chewing until there is nothing left to chew.
  19. Most people feel restriction for a few weeks after surgery because of the swelling. After that is gone completely, people find themselves hungry again. I hope your doctor did put some saline in during surgery. That would be helpful. Have you read the section about FAQ (frequently asked questions) and there is a post op section that's good to read. I am glad you have a doctor's appointment. That will help you get your questions answered. I hope you have your fill scheduled too. It's best to stay on top of fills for the best results with this surgery.

    Anyone in Oregon??

I didn't know Dr. Tersigni raised his prices. I am going to ask about that at support group. Last I heard, he was charging 12,500.00 for self pay.

    I'm here to help...

Janet, thanks for your post about the sweets. I guess when I am in that mood, I don't even think about the calories-I just go for it. Most of the time, I can handle it but there are those days that I just let the cravings take over. I am really happy that my friend who is the baker that I spend so much time with, has finally decided to start eating healthier with her diabetes. She loves to bake brownies. I can totally relate to the brownies. They are one of my favorite things. My dad gave me a box of sugar free candy and I threw the whole box in the dumpster in Arizona. Sugar free or not, they still have the same amount of calories. It was a big box of Russell Stover's. We all became overweight for the same reason. We like to eat. It really stinks that I can stay on the plan for a few weeks and not lose anything, but if I give in, I gain immediately.

Which brand of the SF choc pudding do you like? They were giving samles in the store the other day. I am glad. I found the Swiss Miss to be tastier than the Jello brand. I have had the jello brand ones in my frige for a long time. They seem tastelss to me. More later. Gotta hold baby!
  23. I seriously doubt if there is any way your band slipped. That comes from repeated vomiting day after day. I don't know why you would be having pain a week after surgery. A lot of people say it's related to the gas they pump into us to do the surgery. I am sure you will start to feel better and better every day. You won't have any restriction until you get your fills. Just try to follow your doctor's orders, drinking whatever he/she suggested at this stage. Some doctor's want their patient's on Clear Liquids, others move people to creamy liquids fairly quickly. Call your doctor if you have any more concerns.

    What's normal at this stage?

It seems when I am thirsty, I have to have Water to quench my thirst. sugar free drinks don't get rid of my thirst the way water does.

    I'm here to help...

Even though I am not considered a newbie, I still need your help Janet. I read where you were around all those Christmas Cookies and didn't give in. Where do you get your willpower? I am sure I could be down quite a bit more if I didn't fall off the wagon with the sweets. food is not the problem, it's the sweets. It seems like I can go along for quite awhile and then all of a sudden, I crave them so badly I can't stand it. The sugar free stuff just doesn't do the trick for me. Besides, sugar free candy has just as many calories. I stopped getting emails to my threads for some reason so it's been harder for me to reply on my threads.
