So the price of your surgery did not include even one fill? That stinks!

Yes, this board is great. It's so wonderful that so many people can come here and share their experiences.

Severe shoulder pain
Oregondaisy replied to mnn2501's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine finally did go away. It took a long time and I remember when food would get stuck it would get worse. I haven't had it for a long time now. At that time, sometimes it came and went and I couldn't figure out why. -

I need to write down the page # of where I left off. This thread moves so quickly sometimes. I think it would really help and I wouldn't have to keep clicking the back button to find what I haven't read. I remember how happy I was to wear old clothes that were like brand new that became too small. I wish I would have saved more of them actually. I can remember certain things I wish I still had. It was even a better feeling when some of that stuff I did have around was now too big! -
I hate it when people post just to post.....

BBK, we all love you! I am glad your mom changed her mind so you and DH can have some time. I am afraid that I would have to say something to that friend who didn't even invite you to the wedding. I am a big fan of letters. I wrote a letter to my neighbor who used to be one of my best friends until she really pi$$ed me off. I am really lucky that I have had the same two really close friends for over 25 years. One wants to get the band very badly but there is no way it would work for her. She is one that would definitely eat around the band. I would consider my daughter to be one of my best friends too. She is 27 and I don't know what I would do without her. -

Nifty Fifties! I like that! I got headaches the first few days after banding. I think it had to do with my calories going from thousands to hundred, but that's just my opinion. Janet, congratulations on those size 6 jeans. I would never dare to wear white! I ate very badly this past weekend. Having a bf is not good for my diet. I will do better during the week. I feel bad for anyone who has to jump through the ins. hoops. I am glad I was able to self pay. I took a 2nd mortgage on my house and it was the best 10,000 I could have ever spent. Good luck. I hope everyone gets approved! Bandland is like dreamland! -

BBK, where did the link go to your before and after pictures. I wanted to show my bf what an inspiration you are. He puts up a lot with me and the way I eat because of banding. -

Wow! It was interesting to read my post from a year ago. I was so frustrated at the time and now I am at goal. Knowing your resting metabolic rate really does help. Changing your exercise routine is extremely important. I got a trainer and now I change my exercise constantly. Changing calorie intake helps too. You pretty much have to fool your body. -
Okay, when you say BP do you mean pb? In other words, is food getting stuck and coming back up? If you're having that problem, you should wait on a fill until you learn to take very tiny bites and chew very well. I am talking chew it up until it's liquid in your mouth. Nobody can talk you into getting your exercise done but yourself. Some people can get away without exercise in the beginning, but eventually, the weight loss stops and we all have to exercise. Make a list of every reason you have and wanted to lose weight. Look at that list several times a day and force yourself to exercise. If you're hungry all the time, you do need that fill.

Why will nobody answer my question in the powder room? -
Yes. There is a fat pad around your stomach and as you lose weight, you lose that fat pad. When it melts away, the band gets looser. When you get to goal, you don't need to keep getting fills because the fat pad is either gone or mostly gone.

Plentyoffish.com Free Online Dating Service & Dating Site is great because it's free to email back and forth and because I love the forums. People talk about everything under the sun on those forums. I met my bf on match.com There is a dating site called something like big and beautiful. You'd probably have to do a google search for the exact tittle to find it. If you want free there is also Matchdoctor | 100% Free Online Dating & Personal Ads

Your food plan of choice.

I would say I eat South Beach more or less. I don't count calories anymore because I did that for so long that now I know what size portion I can have and I tend to eat the same things a lot and I had already looked up the calories when I was first banded. Low carb low fat and lean protein= South Beach. -
Citrical also makes calcium pills that are called petites. They are much smaller. Citrical is calcium citrate rather than calcium carbonate. Calcium citrate is better because your body absorbs it better. Viative chews are calcium carbonate.

I would get a sleeve in a heat beat if for any reason I had to have my band removed. So what if it's not reversible. In my opinion, that's a good thing. Why would I want my weight loss reversed? There are no intestines bypassed, you just have a smaller stomach. In essence, that's what the band is doing. The only difference is the band is a foreign device stuck inside me. It has the risk of slipping or causing problems to my esophagus.

This is so true. Fiber is essential. That's exactly why I eat the Kashi cereals too. That and Fiber one cereal have the highest amounts of fiber. I keep stressing that not enough fiber in our diets is very bad for the colon. It's a tricky balance not to have too many carbs but yet still get enough fiber, but it's really important.

Regarding calories, I know everyone is different. For me, I had to keep my calories around 1,000 per day plus exercise. I do have a slow metabolism, and I can maintain for months if I exercise but eat more than 1,000 calories. -

Alice, You probably can still see that doctor but just tell him you don't want to be "real tight" The dr. should listen to you. You should be the one in control. If you feel you need a slight fill, just tell him that. All you have to say is that you know that when people are "real tight" they have problems eating, pbing, etc. There is no reason he has to give you a fill bigger than you want. -
I wonder if my gyn dr. will give me a big enough prescription so I can get him to take the dyflucan. I can't even begin to yell loud enough how sick I am of all of this!

Like I don't have enough problems with UTI's since I got a BF and started having sex again, now I have a screaming yeast infection! This is so not fair. I went without a relationship for 3 years since my last BF and I broke up. I have had burning crotch syndrome for the last month. OK probably way too much information. Carry on.:confused:

I love the Kashi Crunch and the one called Good Friends. I read somewhere that putting cinnamon revs up the metabolism. I mix the two cereals together and add the cinnamon and splenda and I love it.

Now that I am 5 lbs below goal, it's nice to have a little wiggle room. I still eat the same way as I did while I was losing, but now I don't beat myself up if I want to eat a cookie. I lost the 5 lbs below goal without even trying, just eating the way I learned to eat having the band. I sometimes wonder if I will continue to lose. I don't think so though. When I was struggling to lose, I freaked out at the thought of going somewhere that there would be temptations around. Now I just don't worry because if I end up eating something I normally don't eat, and I gain a lb or two, it's gone in a couple of days.

I haven't been carb free at all during my weight loss journey. I found myself getting nauseous at the gym if I don't have carbs to get me through the cardio. I love the Kashi Cereals. I put splenda on them. People, we NEED fiber. Eating completely carb free does not allow enough fiber in our diets. It's all about which carbs you eat. It's perfectly good to eat some fruit and whole grain cereal. There are plenty of studies that say that not enough fiber in our diets causes colon cancer. Kashi cereals are good because they are high fiber and unlike other cereals, they do have protein.
