  1. I can eat a lot of salad. That is my go to food when I go out to eat wtih anyone who doesn't now I am sleeved. Lettuce chews down to nothing. Now if I am eating one with chicken mixed in, of course I can't eat as much of the actual salad.

All sleevers 3 years out or more

Not eating at night is one key thing for me. I really have to watch what I eat. I regained 15 between year 3 and 4 and took it off with 5:2. I managed to keep it off for a year, but now I am struggling again. I find if I eat anything extra, I gain. It's a constant battle. Once I get into fasting, it gets way easier, It's really hard at first though, but it definitely works and gets rid of carb cravings. When we say fasting, we aren't talking not eating anything. Fast days are very low calorie days though.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, please do. I am really curious as to what he meant. Make sure you get it to explain it to you so that you understand. So many doctors talk to me as though I'm a medical professionals too, and I have to stop them and say please explain it in way that I will understand. I am anxious to find out what he says will cause you to have another surgery.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I think you look great too, Sheryl. I like that you can buy tops and bottoms these days in 2 different sizes. I like these little swim shorts they have come out with these days. I got mine at old navy. I wear them over the bottoms. I also have little shorts that go with the top, instead of a one piece or bikini type bottoms. I just didn't want to deal with having to talk it over with Bill. He knows that I'm still friends with Don, but I don't think he wants me interacting with him. I know I'd be the same way. He's friends with his ex, but I'd prefer he not spend time with her. I haven't even liked it when they've had a phone covo. He would just worry even if I told him Don was gone, that somehow we would run into each other. He's not out of town. He just went to a party across Portland and didn't want to drive after having alcohol so he stayed the night. For all I know, he could be home any minute.

    XXX rated super serious question!

Someone once posted that they measured it, and it was only less than a tablespoon. It is true that making him eat pineapples and drink pineapple juice will totallly change the taste. if you hate the taste, it's worth a try. Your husband or boyfriend will be eternally grateful.

Ok, sorry, I thought everyone knew this. SMO stands for Super Morbidly obese. It's after a certain BMI that you're no longer considered just obese. I am so glad things are working out with you and Tino, Sheryl. He sounds so sweet and just what you need. Cathy I am so glad you checked in and told us how you're enjoying your house. I am so worried my house is not going to sell. I am in Portland now. I am going to my grand daughter's 5th birhday party. If you can belieive this, I am staying at my ex hustand's house. We were married when I was 19 until I was 21 and we are good friends. We moved from Chicago to Oregonwhen I was 21. He's not home. He had to go away and I have a key to his house and he said he didn't care if I stayed here. Bill would have a fit if he knew! I've done nothing but eat junk today. I hate the 4 hour drive here and I just stopped at a convenience store and bought a bunch of crap. then I went to the mall and ate some more. I have to eat healthy and stick to protein tomorrow. I don't know why I do this to myself. I guess I am just an admitted food addict. We have not heard from Florinda in a long time! Did I miss a post?

That is so cool that Kelly and Sheryl are within distance of being able to get together. I hope our group here has formed some life long bonds. We certainly have something in common that people living without a sleeve will never understand. I've been trying to fast, and Bill shows up wtih these chocolates that his friend Deborah made as a get well present. She is SMO. vanilla wafers sandwiched with peanut butter in between, dipped in chocolate. I should just take the bag and dump it in the toilet.

Sheryl, What is going on? Is it Tino? What did I miss? Coops, Have fun in London. I wish I could go to Europe. I'm sure that One Direction concert is going to be exciting! I'm glad you to the pub and dance with your friends. Like you said, as long as you're having fun, who cares. I don't even pay attention to people when I'm dancing. I am having too much fun. Sarah, 12 miles? Wow! I am in awe! Bill is snoring on the couch and I am sick to death of him being sick. I hope he recovers from this surgery soon, or I will go crazy!

Wanda, that's sweet of you to say that I sound young. I am acutally 61 and will be 62 in October. I can't even believe that. I feel young, other than when my back or neck are killing me. I know that exercise is one of the keys to staying young. I wish Floridna would check in! I just love our group and everyone in it. I love dancing and I love that "keep on dancing" I can't do zumba and I loved it but it hurt my knees, back, and neck. I loved ballroom dance, but I've gotten away from it since Bill hates to dance. So I go to a local bar where my friends play in a band on tues nights and dance my behind off. Bill knows tues are for my own time.

Sarah, Congratulations! It must feel so good to have that scheduled!! I am really happy for you. Yes, Bill had his procedure today and he has been totally knocked out all day. I don't think they will let him go home tomorrow . His nurse said if he doesn't wake up and eat, he can't go home. I don't see that happening. He's out like a light. I love it here though. Eugene is so much warmer than where I live. the coast always has a really cold wind. It feels like summer here. I went shopping and bought my grand baby some new clothes. My daughter got mostly newborn at her shower, and she's 5 months old now and needs new clothes. I wonder if Florinda is here somewhere!!

Happy birthday Sheryl! I didn't know it was your birthday. Happy Surgerversary Georgia! I agree, the sleeve is the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I forgot to even mention my 5 year mark last month. It's such a way of life now. It's a work in progress and it never gets easy, but it's worth it to not wear clothes in the plus size dept! I love being 61 and a size 8. Menopause has not been good to most of my friends and they have all put on tons of weight, other than my sleeved friend.

Sheryl, you should definitely give up on newbies. You have paid your dues. If you really feel the need, write a post that adequately explains the difference between how a band is supposed to work and how the sleeve does what the band was "supposed" to do. Then every time you feel the need to answer one of those posts, just post a link! Sar, I am so sorry I can't remember your real name! You explained it exactly right though. There are so many people who don't even research WLS and just expect that it will fix all their problems. It's been over 8 years since I had WLS and I have more interesting places to surf the net these days than to try to tolerate anyone who rubs me the wrong way online. I guess I am just getting old! Bill is still very sick. I am in a motel room. I had to take him to a giant hospital that looks like a resort from the outside. Tomorrow he will have the procedure done to remove the gall stone that is lodged in his common bile duct. The good thing is I have hardly had anything to eat all day and it's past midnight. It's so great that with the sleeve, I am still rarely hungry. If I can get past the head hunger, I can fast. I feel like I can get 5:2 going again once I make it past the first few days.

I liked that Alex locked the thread. I like the article he wrote about supporting each other rather than tear someone down. I've never been one to jump all over someone when they admitted to eating a twinkie. I'm so non confrontational, I would rather just find another post to read. I can't believe so many people would take the time to argue with someone online.

Adequate food intake at 2 years study

I don't like the fact that I can't get off my PPI. Recently, several people have revised to RNY because they never could get their acid issues controlled. I'd rather stay on my PPI than deal with the acid I had while trying to go off of it. I feel lucky that mine is controlled with a PPI rather than even having to consider the gastric bypass because it can't be controlled. I take my calcium citrare religiously. I have them on auto ship from Bariatric Advantage.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I was up all night last night with Bill. He finally was in so much pain in the middle of the night, that actually wanted to go to the hospital. Up until now, he's been afraid because wiht his CA insurance, everything will be out of network. I knew he had to get to the point where he didn't care and would agree to go to the emergency room. We went at 1 am . It turned out he needed his gall bladder out. The doctor said it was really badly infected and diseased. No wonder he kept running a high fever. He also has a plugged common bile duct and he's going to have to go to a different hospital next week, as the surgeon was not able to fix it. Apparently, what he needs to have done isn't done at our hospital. That doesn't surprise me but it pisses me off. I'll talk more to the doctor in the morning. He is actually my band doctor and I just adore him. He's also a general surgeon besides a bariatric surgeon. So he's all drugged up and sleeping and finally not in pain. I've been eating junk food all day again. I will try hard tomorrow not to eat just because I am stressed out. It's really hard. All I want is junk.

    Lactose intolerant

Yes, I was very lactose intollerant right after surgery and probably for the first year. Now, I can have small amounts of milk. Any more than that and I get horrible gas pains and smelly gas. ice cream is the worse, It causes explosive diarrhea. I can eat yogurt and cheese just fine.
  18. The more carbs I eat, the more I have cravings for sweets. If I am very strict and watch my carb intake carefully, I have no sweet cravings at all.

Adequate food intake at 2 years study

That article was written about people who have had RNY. There is malabsorption with that surgery. We do malabsorb some, but not to the extent that the people who have had RNY/gastric bypass.

Follow up visit with sports med doc

I think it's more common for us sleevers to maintain the weight loss the the Gastric Bypass people. Their stomachs stretch way more than ours do. My daughter can eat a pretty normal sized meal, not a sleeved slze meal. I think I am getting more restriction as time goes on , not less. Maybe it's from scar tissue. You're lucky to have such good doctors up there, that can check everything out for you. I am pretty much on my own over here. I know that's what I get for going to Mexico, but my ins. would not pay for anything weight loss related, even post op.

It's pretty hard to get away from ex wife drama. I have had to deal with it during every single one of my last relationships. One of them broke up over ex drama. She dragged the adult kids into it. I am lucky Bill has little to no contact with his exwife, and his ex gf seems to have disappeared. We still don't know if she is pregnant, but I am guessing not, since she would be showing by now. He's never called her and she hasn't called or texted again. Good luck with this Sheryl. If it comes down to it, you'll have to tell him to make a choice cause no shows are a deal breaker. He sounds so great otherwise. I am really happy that I made dinner for Bill and I just didn't want to eat it. I wasn't hungry and I was happy about it. So I hope the scale starts going back down.

    Constipation! Help!

That's the thing I am trying to avoid. I have read articles and both my gastroenterologist and my urlogist have said not to use Mirilax continually. It's not for long term. It causes kidney failure if used long term. My mom used it for a long time and died from kidney failure. I wish I had the link now.

Wow! So nice to see all the updates. I am amazed anyone can fast with a man in the house. Men make it so much more difficult. Coops I am so happy for you! 2 lbs away from goal. You're doing it! Shery, I am really happy to hear about your new guy. He's the first one yet to make it past a few dates so he must be pretty special. Enjoy yourself!! He sounds like he is very good bf material and exactly what you're looking for. Can't wait for more updates. Brown, can't wait to hear how the play goes! And I'm glad to hear your scale is going in the right direction too. I'm still trying to take off 2 lbs that I gained and can't seem to take off. I try to fast and all these things keep coming up where food is all around me. Sheryl, I would be very interested to hear what you're eating on your days where you're only getting 600 calories. Florinda, I hope things go well with your mom. Are you still here in Oregon?

    Constipation! Help!

I just switched to Proferrin so I would be interested in taking the Ferro Sequel when I run out of the Proferrin. I doubt if my ins. would pay for iron infusions. I am not anemic if I take iron, but it's right on the borderline even taking the iron. All the iron I have ever taken has vitm C with it. Before this I was taking Bariatric Advantage. I've recently started taking Fiber powder. It's the same stuff that's in Metamucil but it's not flavored.

    vitamin D & iron deficiency

I've been Iron deficient most of the time since I've been sleeved. It's really annoying because I have to take iron and it constipates me severely. My vid d was very low too, and like the other poster said, I started taking 50,000 a week, and it came right up.
