Being anemic can cause hair loss. I lost half my hair when I had my band surgery. It was just starting to look better when it was time for my revision. My hair has never gotten as thick as it was before the 2 surgeries. The crazy thing is, it grew back in curly. I've never had curly hair and had perms that came out straight, when I tried to have curl. Now, I have ringlets and curls. I started on Biotin before band surgery and have stayed on it all these years and have kept up on my Iron and nothing seems to help.

Low Hemoglobin, Ferritin, and Iron 3 years out, anyone else?
Oregondaisy replied to FishingNurse's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I don't really eat a lot of Protein. I read that it goes my your height. For my height, I only need 60 grams a day. I worry about too much protein bc it's not good for the kidneys. I thought my last blood test checked my Iron but it didn't . I was told to stop all b12 bc my b Vitamin levels were all way too high. So apparently, I am absorping my b vitiamins just fine. I guess I am not due to have my iron checked again until fall. -
Chia or flaxseeds? How to incorporate into diet..
Oregondaisy replied to Lthomas's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I grind up flax seeds in a coffee grinder and add them to my Protein shakes in the morning. I have been doing this for years. Chia needs to be soaked in Water for about 5 min before adding to things. I've added them to Protein Shakes too, and to Greek Yogurt. Hemp hearts are the best. They have all the benefits of both flax and chia but they taste great. They taste very nutty. I love adding them to Greek Yogurt. -
The problem arises when the guy refuses to have anything wrapped around his penis. I have a bullet but I find it to be a pain because it makes my whole hand vibrate when I'm trying to hold it there and I find it distracting. I'd like to find something that is tiny or mini that Tiff was talking about.

18 months out...finding the right balance
Oregondaisy replied to JeffA70's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I gained back 15 and lost it with the 5:2 plan. That plan really showed me how destructive snacking at night really is. Once I pick a cut off time for eating, I just have to keep telling myself if I have a snack it's going to show on the scale tomorrow. -
How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, Kelly, that was really an awesome story. I'm so glad that woman had the confidence to tell that guy off. I'm glad my guy always tells me he loves my body. It's pretty saggy and full of wrinkles too, and he tells me it's perfect. My last bf really hurt my feelings once when I was naked. He said "you need to remember you're 60 years old and don't have the body to be running around naked. " I was so hurt. -

Oh my, so much has gone on in such a short time! Sarah, I will be staying with my brother on the North Side of Chicago. I am going to meet another WLS friend in Michigan City on one of the days. We used to have a summer home there. We will go to the outlet mall while my brother goes to the casino. Where are you? I'll be there for 10 days so I am sure we could meet. I'm not sure where you are, but it would be easiest for me to meet somewhere downtown. Sheryl, how did Tino take it when you told him you didn't think it was working out? I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. That just sucks. I'm really afraid I am getting to the age where I am going to start losing friends. Florinda, that just plain sucks. I really don't understand how they have control over you, if you aren't in the military . I guess you have some sort of contract with someone? It just seems like you could get a doctor to say you aren't physically able to work. -

Sheryl, If you feel ambitious, would you post a link to this person's posts? I really don't get around the board much anymore. I go in spurts, where I watch tv and don't turn on my lap top. Then I'll be totally into the computer and not turn on the tv except for the music channel. Anyway, I'd like to read something of hers and see what you and Sarah are talking about. Sue, Cathy Dee, Wanda, and whoever else has not made to goal, concentrate on how much you have lost. Keep doing the best you can. We are in this for life. I know people who have expected the sleeve to do all the work, but we all know once you're past the honeymoon stage, it's a stuggle. I've put back 5 lbs that I lost with 5:2 and now my summer capris are tight. 5 lbs makes a difference. Every pound makes a difference. I haven't been to the gym all summer either. Sat. I go to Chicago and I'm really worried about gaining weight on vacation. Florinda, did you see the post from someone who was recently dianosed with MS? She was looking for someone to talk to who has MS. How are you? How are things going with your BF? Are you in Seattle? Sherly, are you still seeing Tino? -
maintaining..now that you are a few years out
Oregondaisy replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It's really hard. It's so nice to be at our lowest weight, but maintaining that is not easy for most of us. I really want to stay at this weight, but all I have to do is vary a tiny bit, and I am up 4 lbs. 4 will turn into 8 in no time at all if I don't watch everything I eat. -
It's all about choices for me , in most cases. I can't eat a huge dinner, so I am sure that helps. I can sure eat in between meals and graze, and that's what causes weight gain. I'm 5 years out now, and I know the clue to keeping it off is not eat in between meals and not snack at night.

Can you recommend a toy that you can use together? I have to have one too and it would be nice to have something that was more for both of us.

Maybe what she meant was like candy is my drug of choice. I know it's not good for me, but I can't seem to stay away from it. You have mentioned before that you weren't sure if Steven is healthy for you, but yet you still desire him. That's my take on it . I am sure it wasn't meant mean spirited. -

Oregondaisy replied to FishingNurse's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I've been anemic almost the entire time since I've been sleeved. I have always taken Iron, and I was still anemic. Recently, I switched to Proferrin. It's so much better absorpbed and it's not constipating. I just had blood work done, so I will be curious to see if it's helped. It's much more expensive. -
Protein Shakes....What's your favorite?
Oregondaisy replied to Photo925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have almost every flavor that Sytrax Matrix comes in. They are all really good, and give you the most bang for the buck so to speak. 120 calories, 2 carbs, 25 grams of protein. I like to mix the peanut butter flavor with Hood carb countdown chocolate milk and half water. -

Sorry I have been sort of MIA. My daughter in law and grand daughter are here and the house has been so hectic. Sheryl, that pm is weird. I would not even answer it . How can you answer something like that? It does sound to me like English is not her first language. Are you going to tell Tino that you only want to be friends, or cut things off completely with him? I really want to write more but I have to get to bed. I haven't been able to turn on my laptop in days but tonight I really wanted to read what's been going on in our group. I will hopefully have more time tomorrow!! -

How is everyone doing? Last time we heard from Coops, she was sounding down. Are you feeling any better Coops? This weight loss stuff can be so emotionally draining. I feel so depressed when I start gaining or can't lose when I think I should be losing if I am doing everything right. Florinda, how about you? I know your MS is reallly getting you down. It would be so great if you could hook up with a support group in Seattle with people who understand. You haven't said if your bf is moving up there with you. How are you doing Sarah? I hope you aren't in too much pain. MG I am sorry I can't remember your real name. If someone knows the list of everyone's real names, I am going to copy it down. How is your job? Have you already started? cathy how is the house coming along? I am so sad that my house has not sold yet and I am really afraid I am going to have to rent it. It's too nice of a house to be a rental. Kelly, I think of you every time I spend the night at Bill's house. Your machine is completely quiet. He has his old one at my house cause it's hard to keep packing up a CPAP machine every time he wants to spend the night here. I so wish he could replace that one too. I am up 4 lbs from goal and it's so hard to fast or eat right when even fruit makes me gain weight. I love summr fruit. It's depressing that this is such a life long battle. Sheryl, I hope your horse is better, and that you get all this stuff with Tino figured out . Kim, did it take you long to get the hang of kayaking? I splash water all over myself and it's frustrating! I'm sorry if I've missed anyone. I love you guys and the friendships we've made here. -

Oregondaisy replied to Photo925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a list in the food section that rates all the Protein shakes, in the subforum Protein Shakes. My favorite is Gaspari Myofusion Peanut Butter and chocolate. I get it from vitacost.com -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually have heard of people coming home from Mexico with no sleeve. You'll have to get a scope to find out what's going on with your stomach. I continue to battle my addiction to sweets every single day. Right now I am up 4 lbs from my goal weight and I know if i don't take it off, it will be 15 again. People tend to think once you're sleeved, you don't have to battle your weight ever again. That is only true for the first few months when we can barely eat. It's a life long struggle to eat right and know that extra treats will cause weight gain. I keep them out of the house, but I have such little willpower when anyone offers me junk I know I shouldn't have. -

Yay! My son is coming over the 4th weekend and I have projects lined up for him already. Sometimes he gets irritated with me asking him to do things but for the most part, he's really good about helping me. I am trying so hard not to regain what I lost but it's so hard when I have such a sweet tooth. I haven't gained anymore, but I've gained back 4 that I'm having a really hard time taking it off cause I give in to sweets when they are offered to me. I don't keep stuff in the house, but socializing is always centered around food. Glad to hear your horse is getting better! I am going to try to be more active in the regular board. It's been a long time since I've posted anywhere but here. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.!! -

Sheryl, where do you get mixed chicks leave in conditioner? I am always looking for something good to defrizz my hair. Was that what you were talking about getting on Amazon? Sarah, I am excited for you to get your plastics. The date is coming right up! Finola, Wow, I wish I could be in Portland at the same time as you. I don't know the answer to your questions, but I think you should contact an attorney who specializes in employment law. Some will give you a free consultation. MG I am excited about your job. I hope it leads into something that you will absolutely love, but for now, it's good to have something to do. I miss working sometimes. That is so strange about Dr. Aceves death. He was so loved by all his patients. It was such a sudden tragic accident. I feel bad for those of you taking care of elderly parents. It's so hard. That was such a stressful time in my life. -
How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have to get back to fasting. Bill eats so late I told him I was going to start eating my main meal in the afternoon and only have a snack with him when he eats dinner. I can't be eating dinner at 8-9 pm like he likes to do. It's messing me completely up. I wish Florinda would tell me where she is . It just seems so strange that she is close now instead of in a foreign country. Bill and I are still having issues with sleep. I am just such a light sleeper, any little noise will wake me up. He still snores, but not as loud as he would without the cpap machine. I'm going to try to stuff to stuff my ears with cotton again. ear plugs fall out and don't do much anyway. The c pap machines are weird. They can be completely quiet, and then start hissing out of nowhere. I am sure the nose piece loses it's seal with his nose. urrrgggg I just want to sleep in separate bedrooms. -

I think the skinny jeans look way better too. Globe, where are you? Are you still in Oregon? I really feel for all of you taking care of elderly parents. I did that already and it was very hard. It really wore me down. I miss my parents, but I don't miss their health failing more and more all the time. Going off to Roseburg today so Bill can go to Costco. It's 80 mi one way. there's some othe stuff he wants to do there too. I am just glad to get out of town. It will be warmer there too. I am really afraid my gabapentin which I take for sleep is causing weight gain. I have been really good and not dropped an ounce. -

Sheryl I think you need to talk to him about this. You can tell him how much you admire him as a father, but at the same time, if this relationship is going to work, he has to carve out alone time with you. that means not constantly on the phone with the daughter either. I'm glad mostly everything else about him is good, and the relationship seems to be progressing the way you want. I think the swim suit looks great on you! You can get cute cover ups to wear when you feel like you need to. I am so glad to hear from every one but I don't have time to comment on everyone's post. When I get home from Bill's later, I will bring up 2 windows so I can see everyone's posts and comment. Kim, I didn't realize you were so close to my age. I thought I was the only one over 60 here! I'm trying hard to get back on track. Bill is concerned that he is not getting his energy back. He has a complete phobia about needles so I know he wont consent to a blood test. I know in the hospital they told me he was low on potastium. Anyone know anything about what that does?
