    Too much fill?

how are you doing today? is everything still the same?

    I need help....

You have come to the right place. It's good that you know that the gastric bypass is not the answer for you. They do lose massive amounts of weight in the beginning, but just about everyone I know that has had that surgery, has gained the weight back. They don't fix what is in their head. You have to try to give up sweets. Eating sweets just makes us crave more sweets. It's really hard. I battle it every day. Just keep coming here for support and people will tell you what has worked for them. try getting the book "The Beck Diet Solution" It's not a diet. It teaches you a way to learn to battle head hunger. It helped me a lot.

    Too much fill?

Please let us know how you are doing. I worry about people that stay tight for too long because they think this is the best way to lose weight. Your fill will probably loosen up, but I will be thinking of you and wondering how you are doing.
  4. I still can't believe any of you had to take any written test. I basically just sat and gabbed with the lady and gave her $75. One of my very good friends is a shrink. I know from support group that my surgeon has just become a center of excellence, and they have more people than they can handle. I asked his nurse at support group if they needed anyone to do psych evals and she said yes, that people have to wait to get into the person they have been using. I gave her my friend's card and now he is going to start doing psych evals. Now I can find out what they are looking for and what he has to tell them for people to get approved for surgery.

    Too much fill?

Usually the band does loosen on it's own after a couple of weeks. Give it a little bit more time. Most people are always much tighter in the mornings. If you can't eat solid food after a couple of weeks, definitely give the dr. a call.

Anyone know the life-span of bands?

If something were ever to go wrong with my band I am getting the sleeve. There is nothing that can go wrong with the sleeve. Once it's done, it's done forever. It would be great never to have to have fills or the thoughts of erosion.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

BBK You have been to hell and back.I would have gained 50. It's not your fault they messed up your band. You'll have it off in no time. You are all lucky you can read and post here at LBT from work. I wish I could.

Band Eroded -now coming out...so depressed

A sleeve is where they just make you a tiny stomach. After the surgery, there are no fills, and you don't have to worry about restriction. They make you such a small stomach, you just can't eat big portions. They use the part of the stomach that is the least stretchy so it doesn't stretch back out. Go to the bottom of the board, and there is a section for people who are having that surgery now. It's fairly new, but it's gaining in popularity all the time. So many people are losing their bands from complications and having a revision surgery to a sleeve.

    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

My ambien is not very big at all. I have to make sure to stay up awhile to make sure the water isn't just completely sitting in my stomach. You should go to the complications section of this board and read how many people are having problems with this. They say it's reflux, but I don't get the acid. For me, it's just water.

Band Eroded -now coming out...so depressed

Have you considered getting a sleeve? There are many people getting revision to a sleeve surgery after having band problems. I worry about my band all the time. I feel like it's a time bomb and it's just a matter of time until something goes wrong.

    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

That happens to me too if I eat too late. I know I am not too tight. I can eat anything I want and I hardly have to chew like I used to . It's very scary when that happens, I know! It happened to me last night because I took my pill too late and in the middle of the night, water came up. If I am going through a phase of this, I make sure to sleep propped up with pillows so my head is elevated. I can go for days and have no problems but then it will come back. I think you did the right thing. If you had someone get some out safely, that's the best thing you can do. I know other people who are nurses and took some of their own out, or had nurse friends do it. As long as you use that huber needle, it should be fine. Hopefully, she took enough out, and you won't need another unfill. I thought you had a partial unfill a couple of months ago?

    Coughing all night

Sounds like you need to see your doctor. I have this problem once in awhile but it's always if I eat something too late at night. If you're having it regularly, you need to have an upper GI done.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills

You're welcome. It's hard for some people to understand why some people just need a few fills and some have to keep getting them over and over. Some people get a fill and expect restriction to last, and it just doesn't work that way.

    Am I really full?

You just barely had surgery so there is a good chance that you are hungry just like you think you are. It takes a couple of fills before you get that really full feeling from a very small amount of food. Try to eat protein every 3 hours or so until you get a fill.

    Protein Bars

I really like the Atkins Nougat protein bars. Also, Costco has their own brand that are called Premire that are pretty good. they are big and half of one fills me up.

    What Can Cause Band Slippage

I heard of a woman having a slip due to popping her stitches from lifting something too heavy.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills

This is a great thread. It seems that Wendall has stopped posting. I hope all is well with him. Just remember restriction will not last until you are close to goal and most of the fat pad is melted away from losing weight. Every time we lose the fat around the stomach, the band gets looser until there is no more fat around the stomach left. I have not had a fill in almost a year. I doubt I will ever need another one.
  18. I paid 10,000 for my band and had it done about 5 min from my house. Dr. Tersigini keeps his prices low so that people can afford to have lap band surgery. He had to raise his prices to 12, 500 because the surgery center raised the cost of the operating room. He is a center of excellence and has the lowest complication rate in the Pacific Northwest.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

That's great April. Exercise was the key for me and it made me feel great, as well as made the weight loss move a little quicker too.

    How long.....

Antidepressants really do mess up the sex life. I am sorry for all you have gone through, Green. I recently got my dr. to prescribe testosterone cream which is supposed to be applied to the clitoris area. From what I have read, this will help with orgasms. I have high hopes this is going to work.

OMG - is this the start of menopause???

My periods were never a big deal. They came and left in 3 days and I barely knew I had them. All the effects of menopause have been much worse. It's weird how some people have horrible periods, and some people have a horrible time with menopause.

    Givin' up the ice cream

Wow! I really admire you. I could never throw ice cream down the drain. That is why I buy the little weight watcher cups that are 140 calories or the sf fudgsicles. It's bad though. Sometimes I don't want real food, just one of those. I wish sweets made me sick like it does for the RNY people. I always turn to sweets when stressed.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thank you Sunshine. I only take 50 mg but there are nights that I have no problems. I take Ambien half the time. My dr. will only give me 14 Ambien per month. I don't know why he prefers the Seroquel the other nights. Now that I think about it, I sleep better with Ambien and don't have that problem.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Productive burp. basically throwing up but not with all the stomach acid. It's what you have just had to eat that can't go through the band so it comes up.
