    constipation since band

There are so many threads about constipation. It is a big problem for lap band patients. Miralax works well but it's expensive. There is no taste to it. I take colace every day. I keep them in my purse so if I forget to take one, I always have them with me for when I remember. Benefiber seems to do absolutely nothing for me.

    Think Oprah has given up?

Personally, I feel sorry for Oprah. How closed minded can someone be that refuses to even consider WLS. She is basically saying she would rather be fat than even take it into consideration. I think that's sad. I can't wait to see how Starr Jones does a few years from now. Even having WLS does not mean that you can keep it off. Like we all say, it's just a tool. But why not use that tool if you can afford it? Oprah can certainly afford it, but she is being narrow minded.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I would love to get a face lift but I can't see shelling out 10 grand for one. Wouldn't it be nice to be rich like those movie stars?

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Hope you're having a nice easy recovering period, SNT

    Question: Why Liquids???

She was talking about the post op diet. She already has her band on the 9th of Oct.

    Question: Why Liquids???

There are some good threads that explain it in great detail. There is one written by FaithMD. You could do a thread search and find it. Eating too soon and cheating is something we all want to do, but once you read the reasons behind it, that helps. I would never want to lose my band because I couldn't follow directions but it helps to know why you need to follow them.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I shopped a lot at Goodwill and other thrift stores. You can really get some good deals. I got a bathing suit that was like new for $2. I just bought a blouse that I swear is brand new. I did weight lifting and I don't have any flabby skin anywhere other than my arms. I was into the gym way before I got the band, only I never lost any weight until the band. I love what the weight lifting has done for my thighs. I have been working on my arms and so far, there is muscle in there, but all the saggy skin covers it up. I think at our age, saggy skin really can't be avoided. Some people aren't as saggy as others in certain spots, but it's just something that comes with age. I hate all the wrinkles on my face and neck that weren't there when they were covered in fat. I used Atkins Protein drinks and EAS that you can buy at Walmart. I used to drink slim fast low carb but somehow now it's too sweet for me. I never thought I would ever say that.

    Water - "Swish & Spit"?

not a problem. drinking with meals flushes the food out of the pouch and that causes hunger. drinking with meals can also stretch the pouch.

    Question: Why Liquids???

Your doctor should have explained that to you. In order to digest solid food, your stomach moves and churns up the food. The band needs to heal on your stomach without your stomach digesting solid food. Eating too soon can cause a slip later on down the road.

    Hey damnit!

Believe me, if I had my way, I'd be there all winter. I wonder if my daughter would let me take my grandbaby.

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

I hope so! It's not an every day problem. I can go for weeks without a problem unless I eat something right before bedtime which I should not be doing anyway.

Longterm nutrition and health with a band

I agree Jacqui. I can eat anything I want. I can eat fruit with skins, bread if I want to, basically anything I feel like eating. I haven't thrown up in months. I can't even remember it's been so long ago. Please get yourself checked out.

    Givin' up the ice cream

There was a South Beach thread awhile ago. I have to get sugar out of my system so I don't crave it. When I couldn't make goal, I put myself back on the liquid diet. Funny, I do well on that. I tell myself I am on liquids, so I can't eat that. It's probably impossible for me to talk myself into that now though.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

It's so hard to answer everyone individually. I admire those of you that can do that. But Congratulations on the 75 lbs lost. It's such a great feeling! Nani, my left shoulder pain went on for months. It was weird. It came and went. I haven't had it for a long time now and I am so glad. I am glad to read that everyone is doing so well. It's so frustrating to some who don't lose as fast as they expected. I was like that, but those days are gone now. In the end, I lost what I wanted to lose so gotta love that band!

That would be so wonderful! I just checked with my dr.'s office today and an upper GI is around $1,500.00 That's ridiculous. If I am careful not to eat anything after dinner, I am fine. I am going to be careful until I can get down there. I am not shelling out $1,500 bucks. I know I am not too tight. I can eat anything. I never pb or slime. I don't do this often because I don't want to gain weight, but when my kids went to pizza, I ate one piece with no trouble. If I were tight, that would have been impossible. I remember when I was tight before I got an unfill and two bites of pizza had me hanging over the toilet for an hour. I generally come in Feb. The weather there is perfect in Feb. In March, my allergies go insane and January the weather is just like the weather here. When I go down there, I like warm days!

    Hey damnit!

You look pretty darn good yourself too! Wish I could come and eat with you guys! Those mozzarella sticks were yummy. Even though just one made me so full, I wanted to eat all of them.

I'm Revising from Band to a Sleeve

I found out today that an upper GI would cost me $1,500.00. I doubt if my ins. would cover it, if they code it band related. I have a $1,000 deductible and 70% coverage after that. So, if my ins. did pay, it wouldn't be much. I am going to put that money towards a revision some day. I don't see the sense in shelling out fifteen hundred bucks . I have acid reflux at night, but I am fine in the day time. If I am careful not to eat anything after dinner, I am fine at night too. Hopefully, I will stay fine until I can come up with the money for a revision. I would hate to mess up my stomach to the point where I can't get a sleeve. Not many people even know I have the band, so it's going to be tricky to get to Mexico and get a revision when the time comes.

    Help!! I'm stuck!!

There is a slow losers thread around here somewhere. It really helped me. I was a very slow loser. I liked that thread because it gave me hope and I stayed away from the threads where people were dropping lbs. like crazy because those threads just upset me.

    Hey damnit!

yeah, chips go down really easy. probably better than moist chicken breast.

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

There isn't anyway to find out with one test? What if I had the upper endo first. would that tell me what an upper GI would tell me? Insurance isn't going to cover any of this. I know I probably sound really stupid, but I know nothing about these tests. I have never needed them but after reading that a lady had a slip with no other symptoms other than night time reflux, I am freaking out again. She was just like me, with no problems what so ever in the daytime. I wish my dad's house would sell and I would come down there in a hearbeat and go to your dr.

    Slipped Band

I thought everyone had to be on a liquid diet when they are dealing with a slip but what do I know. Did you ask your doctor after he told you that you had a slip?
  22. Oregondaisy

Longterm nutrition and health with a band

Are you completely unfilled? You need to get in and have some tests taken. This is not normal. You need to find someone who is experienced with bands to have the right tests done and find out what is wrong.
  23. Oregondaisy

    Hey damnit!

WasA, I have to follow you all over the board. I have support group tonight and I want to ask that damn nurse which test I have to demand to have. When I called to tell them about this night time acid reflux, she gave me nexium and told me not to worry about it. She said if I had band problems, I would have problems in the day time too. Then somebody posted that they were fine in the daytime like me, could eat whatever they want in small portions, but had the acid reflux at night. she said it turned out she had a slip.

    Why cant i have sex?!?!

Sounds crazy to me. I could have had sex. I was not in any pain or discomfort in any way. Maybe watch the position so you are comfortable. I am sure in the powder room there were ladies reporting they had sex right away. Look in the Girl's room.
