Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

A big cyber hug to you too Janet. I know you must miss your brother. Holidays can be really rough on people, and losing a loved one makes it that much harder.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I would say if this keeps up, get a slight unfill. Like Janet said, only you know if you are eating slowly and chewing very well. Potatoes can be band unfriendly. All I can say to everyone is pbing and feeling stuck is not normal. Some people think it is, and this is the way to lose the weight, but it's not. It's a way to lose your band or damage your esophagus. Chewing very well, taking tiny bites, and waiting in between bites is extremely important. If you are doing all those things, and still having problems, having some fill even a tiny bit, makes all the difference in the world. It is very important not to be too tight.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I really had no symptoms what so ever in the daytime. I ate small meals, never pbed or threw up, never had food stuck and I thought everything was fine. In the middle of the night, food or water or both would come up in my sleep and wake me from a sound sleep. I would run to the bathroom and spit it out. Sometimes in my sleep I would wake up coughing and gagging. I went into the dr. and he said I needed the esophagram. When I had that, they gave me the barium, and it just sat in my esphagus for over 15 min. and never went into my stomach. It just sat above the band. I could see it plain as day. The xray tech called my dr. and dr said to take out one cc. I have been fine ever since. Dr. said I can't have any of my fill back for at least a couple of months. He said I could have damaged my esophagus. I had 2.75 in a 4 cc band and I never felt too tight, other than this night time problem. It's pretty scary to me.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I would probably kick my bf in the butt if he said something like that to me. Ordering pizza sounds good to me for Thanksgiving dinner. My daughter would probably kill me though. She is very into holidays. We would have it at her house but mine is bigger. Froggi welcome to bandland! I am sorry you're in so much pain. I am surprised they didn't give you liquid pain meds. or are you talking about other meds? I can take my meds much easier now that I have had an unfill. I really want to get that meez thing figured out.

I am sure they won't give you a fill if you don't think you can handle more fill. there is nothing worse than being too tight, and it's dangerous!

    Lower BMI'ers--2008!!!

Your surgery is just around the corner! I am happy for you. Don't worry if you lose weight a little bit slower than the people with the higher BMIs. I lost a bunch on the post op diet, and after that, it was slow going. I was happy to be going in the right direction though, instead of gaining more. I know I would have just kept gaining. Keep us posted!

    gaining weight after lapband removal

I agree. If I had to have my band removed, I know I would gain weight. I have already gained a little bit because I had to have some of my fill removed for the same reasons. If I had to have my band removed, I would get the sleeve. I would take out another 2nd mortgage on my house if I had to. Is another surgery an option for you?

Okay, only all of you will understand this. Yesterday, I did really good all day long and had all my Protein in. Then, I made Peanut Butter Cookies and had them for dinner. I made my bf take the rest of them to work this morning.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Restriction is a tricky thing. I think it is a very fine line between having enough, and having too much. I really don't know how to explain it to some of you newer people, but the band can be very fickle. Sometimes people feel like they can't eat anything, and some days, can eat anything they want. It took me many fills and a couple of unfills to get to what I thought was my sweet spot. I hadn't had a fill in nearly a year and thought everything was perfect, until I started this throwing up in my sleep. When I had the esophagram, the barium just sat in my esophagus, for over 15 minutes. It really made me wonder how long food was sitting in there, and why nothing ever felt stuck.

    My problem

One of the greatest things about losing weight was feeling good enough about myself to go on an online dating site and meeting my wonderful bf. That is when "my problem" started. Every time I had sex, I got a UTI. I went to a urologist and he has me taking an antibiotic a few hours before sex. Now, the next day I immediately get a yeast infection. I can't win. I went online to find some sort of home remedy because it's really getting expensive buying all this medication. One of the web sites said to shove a clove of garlic up there and it will get rid of yeast infections. I am afraid to try it. I had read to put unsweetened yogurt up there, but that is not very easy to get it in there where it needs to go. Okay, end of rant.

    My problem

I am taking acidolphilus every day. I just increased the doseage. They had the pearls at the health food store, but they told me that this acidolphilus is better. Which probiotics are better than acidolphilus? On the website you gave me the link to, there are several different boxes of pearls. I can't tell what the difference is.

    Anyone have "The Rabbit"?

My daughter stores her toys in corn starch, of all things. She said the person at the party she went to told her that was the right way to store them. (The rubbery types )
  15. I told him I had a late lunch, that my stomach was a little upset, that I was trying to lose weight, all the excuses I could think of until I was sure we were for keeps. Then when he wanted to go to dinner one night, I just told him I needed to tell him something first. He was great about it and said it was wonderful that I cared enough about my health to do something about it.

Dr. Steven Tersigni here in Oregon is 12, 500 and is at a center of excellence. You said West coast, and Oregon is certainly on the West coast.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I was throwing up in my sleep. I had no problems what so ever in the day time. I ate small meals, and never had anything stuck or thew up. Apparently, my dr. feels there could be damage to my esophagus so he will not give me any more fills. He said I have lost the weight, and now I should have learned new eating habits. He will consider it again, after my esophagus has rested a couple of months.

I have a book The Beck Diet solution. I need to read it again. It's not a diet. It's a way to cope with cravings. Last night I watched this show I had put on my DVR. It's called I can make you thin. He says to picture all our temping foods covered in worms. That does not work for me. I guess my head knows better that there are no worms.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Abby seems to be a popular name for a dog! I hate weekends. Temptations everywhere. I feel like I am never going to be able to lose the extra few lbs I put back on. No more fill for me, and I am hungry a lot. Dr. says it's all in my head but I know my tummy is grumbling!

Froggi, I am so excited for you. I know you have been waiting a long time. I hope your surgery is uneventful (painfree) and Welcome to Bandland.
  21. Since I had some of my fill removed, I don't have to take anything for acid reflux anymore. It's great. I don't have any heartburn, but I am getting hungry soon after I eat, and I am going to have to depend on willpower now. I am not so good with that.

    What Can Cause Band Slippage

It depends on whether or not you have any damage to your stomach. I know a lot of people getting their bands removed and getting a sleeve. I want to do that as soon as I can afford it. I think it's just a matter of time (In my opinion) before everyone will have band problems.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Sorry to hear about abbie. My dog's name is Abby too. She is a silky terrier. She is 12. She has been acting like she doesn't feel well either. Sorry to hear about the lay offs. I work for an attorney that does car accidents. I think my job is safe because people still have car wrecks. I can't seem to stop eating junk.I do well for a couple days then get temped by someone and lose my willpower. Pinki, right now you are in my neck of the woods. I am in Oregon.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

yea, I told my bf pretty early on. I wouldn't even have a bf if it weren't for the band. I never would have had the nerve to post a profile on match. com I had one on plenty of fish, with a picture, but all I got were losers writing to me.

    Givin' up the ice cream

I froze the protein shake and it wasn't so good. For one thing, it froze like an ice cube. There wasn't anyway to stick a spoon in it. So I defrosted it part way in the microwave. IT seemed to lose it's flavor as a slushie. It was more the texture of sherbet but not very tasty. It's better as a protein drink. I had a bad day too. I went out for a salad and some kids were having a birthday party. The mother bought too big of an ice cream cake and gave it to my friends and me. I really couldn't sit there and watch everyone else eat it. Then I came home and ate my WW ice cream cup. One of those "I already blew it, so I may as well have it " moods.
