Before you have surgery- read this-warning

I've never had any trouble at all with any foods or lack of energy. I would say I never had one moment of hell.
  2. Since I don't have between $100-$200 to spend right now, can someone else recommend something more affordable? What about that purple thing that was posted on here awhile back. It looked strange to me, like I wouldn't know how to use it. it looked like it had a vibe on each end and curved around or under? Sort of like a U shape?

    Got suck and threw up!

You need to take itty bitty bites. All of us get stuck if we take too big of a bite. When we say tiny, we mean the size of a pencil eraser. Chew it up until it's liquid in your mouth. Then wait and see how it goes down. Eating fast is another thing that will make us get stuck. You probably do need a fill because almost everyone does. There are a few people who have gone months with no fill and lost well. Just remember the tiny bites and chewing until it's liquid, then waiting before taking another bite. If you do that, you won't get stuck.
  4. I get it now. When she said I got one, she meant she had a question. Now I get why she asked if it's worth the money. That is one expensive gadget. There has to be something more affordable that will do the trick.
  5. It appears that rockbandster wants to do nothing other than start fights and make sure they keep going. It's sad and ridiculous at the same time. This board is for support not for people who are not bariatric surgeons to spew their garbage.

    Need to Poop - constipation

That is why I take stools softners. They work very well.Miralax puts water into the stool and so do the stool softners. It's true that you must drink a lot of water for either one of them to work properly.
  7. I know it's possible too because my surgeon does them all the time. It does not by pass the stomach. It bypasses the intestines. My daughter has a bypass so I do know quite a bit about this surgery. There are people in my support group who had gastric bypass and stretched out their new tiny stomach and have been banded.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Yea, I did change my name. I exercised 6 days a week for 3 years before I got the band and never lost an ounce. It was the band restricting my portions that did the trick!

    Common Problem Foods

You will know. It feels like something is stuck in your esophagus and won't go down. You don't have to go to the dr. It usually comes back up. by the way, I can eat all of the foods on that list with no trouble.

    hunger on clear liquids?

Make sure if you do soups that they are blended up to the point that they are liquid. The rule of thumb is anything that would go through a straw.
  11. I had to exercise 6 days a week. I have a very slow metabolism and if I didn't exercise, there is no way I would have lost or kept losing. I did the stair master, walking/jogging on the treadmill, and the eliptical machine anywhere between 30-60 min per day, as well as weight training. Building muscle will make our bodies burn more calories even at rest.

Where do you get this tea? Is it in a regular grocery store?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I wish I had Janet's metabolism. When I was first banded, I lost 22 lbs during the post op diet. I stayed exactly on plan and exercised daily and over the next 4 months lost no weight. It was very discouraging. The thing that kept me going was I knew the scale eventually had to move because my portions were so much smaller. I had a resting metabolic test done to find out exactly how many calories I needed to eat in order to lose. My body lost when it wanted to, not when I thought it should, because I was following all the rules.
  14. What are you talking about? I could use a boost.
  15. It makes no sense to me. I really do think that the days I have things with Splenda in it, the gas is worse. I forgot to buy some beano at the store. I am willing to try anything. It's so embarrassing. The noise is bad enough, but according to my daughter, it smells worse than anything.

    hunger on clear liquids?

How long do you have to be on Clear liquids? I only had to be on them for 24 hours. After that, it was 4 weeks of liquids, but I could have Soup as long as it was blended and there were no chunks . It's hard not to be hungry on clear liquids because you aren't getting Protein, that's probably why the protein Water is helping.

    Need to Poop - constipation

Benefiber does absolutely nothing for me other than give me gas. I have tried it. I thought that would be the answer, but it's really no help for me.

    Carb-oholics Anonymous....

I am not a March bandster but I would like to join in this thread. Carbs are so evil. If you let them into your diet, all you do is crave more. I am going to be so happy when the holidays are over! It's hard when chips and candy go down so easily! Ice cream is also my big downfall. Are you talking about carbs from potatoes, rice and actual food, or the junk food that is so easy to fool ourselves into " I'll just have one bite"

    Need to Poop - constipation

I have started taking a stool softner every day. My dr. said to either do that or take Miralax. That stuff is expensive, and the stool softner does the same thing.
  20. Hello fellow Oregonians, I just wanted anyone who is researching lap band surgery to know that Dr. Tersigni has lowered is price to $10,000.00 He really wants to help people, and feels this will make it more affordable to people who have to self pay. He is a top notch surgeon and his office is a center of excellence.

Cheaper US Lapbanding for self pay!

Dr. Steven Tersigini in Coos Bay Oregon has lowered his prices again back to 10,000.00 He was always 10,000 but then the clinic where he did his surgeries raised their price to him, so he went up to 12,500.00 Today I saw his nurse and she said that he is lowering it back to 10,000 so more people can afford lap band surgery.

    Band put in too high?

go and have a slight unfill. This is dangerous and it could cause you to lose your band some day.
  23. has anyone tried Beano? Does anyone know if that stuff works?

Can you buy the meatballs already made? That is convenient! Do they have these at Walmart, and if so, where?
