I take all sorts of pills. Some I break in half. I take them with warm Water. Warm opens the band. -
Help! I've got issues !! Please read!!

I had that too, and my dr. told me to leave it alone. He said it would go away on it's own, and it did. He told me if it really bugged me, I could clip it, but once he told me it was very common, I just forgot it was there and it eventually dissolved. -
I have to agree with weight training. I love what it has done to my thighs. I love having muscle. Building muscle makes you burn fat. I do the weights first and follow up with cardio, and I take a weight training class. I will usually do some cardio after class too. When I was working with a trainer, he really emphasized that not doing the same thing all the time is the road to weight loss. He said our bodies quickly adapt to what we are doing, and it's not as efficient.

I have never had very good luck with freezing Protein drinks. Try getting some sugar free fudgesicles. (The popsicle brand) They are only 40 calories and if you are able to control portions and just have one, it's a good alternative to an entire bowl of ice cream. Piggie, It's so good to see you! New here lots of questions!
Oregondaisy replied to cosmokindra's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have no idea why alcohol would play any part in being banded. I have several banded friends that have a drink or a few drinks occasionally. We are not supposed to have carbonation though, so that leaves out beer. The lap band does not get removed unless you are having problems with it. There are quite a few people on this board that have lost over 100 lbs. You should go to the before and after pictures. They are pretty inspiring. How much weight you lose will depend on how you eat. The band will not help with candy, Cookies, ice cream, and chips. those seem to be foods that slip right through the band without any trouble. A lot of people say "if I could diet, why would I need the band?" The reason is, the band will restrict your portion sizes and if you eat healthy foods, meat veggies and some fruit, you should lose weight. The band is not a magic cure. You have to do your part. -

I have no idea why I never get emails. I asked alex about it and even he could not figure out why I am not getting them. -
People lose better when they can eat better. People tend to think that being tight is the way to lose weight, but it's not true. We end up eating soft "slider" foods that don't stick with us for very long. When you get a defill, you don't have to take out very much, just a tiny bit, for it to make a huge difference. I gained weight back from eating ice cream too. It was stress, not a tight band though. Ice cream is evil. It's best to just get it out of your system which makes it easier to forget about it. Low carb eating really makes cravings go away.

Some insurance companies will pay if it's a medical problem. I went in for acid reflux and they put something about the band in the coding to the insurance company and they would not pay for the visit. I called my dr. and said that it needed to be billed as acid reflux. They rebilled it and the insurance paid. As far as restriction goes, you lose restriction as you lose fat around your stomach. The fat pad melts and the band around it is looser. It's just like a belt on your waist. When you lose the weight, your belt is looser. Restriction feels like you can't eat another bite and if you do, you will throw up. It's not painful. It's painful when you don't chew enough and the food gets stuck in your esophagus and won't go down through the band.

You really don't need the email notifications. Just click on User CP which is at the top of the screen to the left under the pictures. It brings you to the threads you are posting on. I missed the emails at first but it's been at least 6 months since I have gotten any and now I am used to the user CP which I think ended up being easier because you don't have to delete the emails. Once you post on the thread again, if you click on user CP again, it will just bring you to a screen that shows all the threads you have posted on. -

Yes, they work the same way for no matter who takes them. Walking around with your arms up works great too. It stretches the area out so food can go down. That works the best for me. -
how do you deal with temptation?
Oregondaisy replied to amberd910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a really goof point. I didn't notice the surgery date. It would seem like that won't be much past the surgery date. Some doctors do move people to food must faster than my surgeon. He insists we should be on a liquid diet for 4 weeks post surgery to make sure the adhesions are formed which will keep the band from ever slipping. -
i think you are too tight. You could have the slightest bit removed. Most people do find that when they are able to eat solid protein, they actually lose better.

how do you deal with temptation?
Oregondaisy replied to amberd910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chew sugarless gum all the time. I don't have an issue with swallowing it. I have never swallowed gum in all my life. I have to say that I have occasionally taken an appetite suppressant when I have a big occasion coming up which lasts for hours and has temptations everywhere. For the most part, I sip Water and keep repeating in my brain " nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" -

Does anyone care if I move this thread to the powder Room Gone Wild? It's a topic that I think belongs there. This has been discussed there already, so I don't think you should in any way be embarrassed. There have been plenty of gals that have wondered about that same thing. -

Thank you Long. I appreciate that. I hated to say anything because nobody else mentioned that shade of green was hard to read. I guess I am just old and my eyes are bad! I really enjoy the exercise classes at my gym. It breaks up the monotony of doing it on my own most of the time. I wish my gym offered more variety in classes. -
I second Dr. Tersingi. He is wonderful and so are all his staff. If you are going to go to Mexico, I would go to Dr. Alberto Aceves. He is a great surgeon at a very good price. The hospital he practices in is an extremely beautiful hospital. He advertises here and the ad is usually on the right. If you click on it, you can see pictures.

The papaya tablets break down whatever is stuck but won't make you get hungry any faster. I have never had them work for me to get unstuck, but they do seem to make whatever is stuck come back up a few minutes after I chew them . -
Question about hunger pains.

Try a heating pad on your left shoulder. I have always heard a heating pad makes it move out faster. I never had any gas problems so I can't say whether it works or not. -
I hate it when people post just to post.....

LJM boy do I feel your pain. I was in the hospital on bed rest when I had my son for 5 weeks. They wouldn't even let me get out of bed to take a shower. I am glad you have your puter to keep you occupied! -
I am lucky that I don't live somewhere that gets very warm. Even when I go to Arizona to visit my dad, I will wear tshirts with short sleeves, but they cover my bat wings for the most part. I don't think I would ever be comfortable enough to wear a tank top.

Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Katy find another dr. if yours is gone. You can't wait on this! You're going to end up back in the hospital. I am sure if you found another dr. and explained that you haven't had a bowel movement and all you do is throw up, they would get you in as soon as they can. -
Are they hic ups that come when you start getting full? A lot of people will get hic ups as a sign to stop eating. I am not sure if that is what you are experiencing. I know my brother and dad get them that last for weeks. They have to take a muscle relaxer before bed to get them to stop.

I haven't gotten email notifications in ages. I used to really be upset about that, but I have learned to just go to user CP and it brings me to all the threads I participate in. Long, I am really glad you changed your color. I never wanted to say anything, but I really had a hard time reading the green you used to use. I was finally successful today at doing only protein drinks. I have wanted to do that since Christmas to get myself back on track, but always managed to eat something else. It's so hard to do it if you're not in the post op phase. I really want to get the weight off that I haven't been able to take off since last August. I refuse to wear bigger pants. I still have all of my old clothes up in the attic, but I refuse to get any of them out. I have a couple pairs of pants that I can get on and zipped, but are definitely not comfortable enough to wear to work. I really like to read those of you who post "so many pounds gone forever" That's the right attitude. It's depressing to get to goal and then gain a little back. -
Does anyone have any experiece with chronic yeast infection?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in The Gals' Room
I didn't know you could get yeast anywhere else on the body. What are the symptoms if you have it somewhere other than vaginally. I have intense burning there.
