How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Do we need to send a message to Alex? He assured me in the past that it was private.I wasn't aware that there was a new ap and people are having issues. I need to commit to exercise because I am a nervous wreck without it. I can't take those SSRI's for depression and anxiety but I really need to . When I do cardio every day, my anxiety is better controlled. For the first few hours in the morning, I feel so nervous and anxious, it's very upsetting. Maybe they have come out with something new since i last tried. I know a lot of those medications cause weight gain, as well. Sheesh, why does life have to be so complicated? When you think about it, everyone in our group is stressed out. Florinda has the state bothering her, Dee is really down, Sheryl is out of sorts, Sheila is trying to get used to being a mom and working full time, I am a nervous wreck for no reason at all that I know of, etc. What has being overweight most of our lives done to us all mentally? -

I'm up for a 5:2 challenge! I wish I could figure out an easier way to keep everyone's conversation's open so I can refer back in my posts. That really is a big step Sheila, going back to full time work. I hope you still have time to check in with us. Coops I am glad to hear this new program is helping your hot flashes. I am so afraid to go off my hormones. Florinda, You're really smart letting your dates show you around. I thought you were from Seattle, and that is why you moved there. -

Sheryl, I totally understand your sensitivity to these anti depressants. I've tried them all. They make me feel like I stuck my finger in a light socket. The doctor said "this one is very well tolerated by most people. " I had every single one of the side effects listed that were possible. Nausea, insomnia, headache, nervousness, and profuse sweating. I think you should meet Theo for a drink of something and let him be a friend to you. Tell him that's all you want right now. I think I am going to go to a Crosby Stills and Nash concert with Bill. He's been seeing a counselor and saying things he's never said before. I think we can date. I just don't think we can be as close as he wants to be. He smothers me and I can't take it. Same with this Jim guy I met dancing. I want him in my life as a friend, even though he wants more. He's willing to settle for friendship. I feel totally fat too. I have started a new habit. Drinking. I never drink much, but it's extra calories. It happens when you go out. I shouldn't drink because of liver issues. I've discovered if I eat total crap, and don't eat any good food, I don't gain. One day I had chips and ice cream and other total crap and the healthiest thing I had that day was Greek Yogurt. I lost 2 lbs that day. weird. Bad, Bad eating habits creeping back in. I wish all of us lived close together so we could get together and just shoot the breeze -
I wish I had not shrunk down to nothing. I was never big, only a C. But now I am an A and they are really hard to find with enough material around the band and sides. Everyone tells me to get fit at Victoria Secret. I've tried that 3 times. They tell me that I'm too small and the bras that fit me are bras made for little girls who first start wearing a bra.

Good luck. Online dating definitely has its ups and downs. It's good practice, even if the date turns out to be someone who you have no interest in.

The chat room used to be very popular. What I always had to do though, was put up a post so that it shows up when some one clicks on new content. Then I would open a new window and go about my surfing the board. The chatroom made a door bell alert sound if someone else came in, and I could then go and chat with them

Rating protein powders

I didn't know that Jay Robb makes a pb/chocolate . I will have to look for it. I could not find PVL whey Gourmet or my Gaspari Myofusion pb/choc. They have both apparently been taken off the market. I had to order Optimum Nutrition PB/choc . I will let everyone know if it's not good. If it's not, I'll try the Jay Robb. -
Hi thanks! I sent you a private message with my email address and my name if you would like to say I referred you, that would be great! Thanks!

Greek yogurt ! Help

Have you tried Dannon light and fit? Their carb count is not high and they come in a lot of great flavors. Also, Yoplait now has some that are low carb count, I believe around 8 carbs. -

You know Sheryl, that is one of the things I love about Bill is that he loves me so much. If I am going to be with someone, I want them to be totally into me, and Bill is. You are right though, having a bf is totally fattening. It's really hard to date when men want to feed you and serve drinks to you. One wanted me to share his ice cream all the time. As far as sex goes, my last bf is 63 and wanted sex every day. He had no ED problems what so ever. It seems if they are on any type of medication, that's what goes first for men. Theo may have a low testosterone level, and that's why he's not totally horny. You and I are in the exact same boat. I want to be 135. I am 142 this morning. I swear I am just going to give up eating. None of my pants fit right. 7 stinking pounds. Sept. 29th I start ballroom dance classes again. I am excited! -
You know you can get 10.00 off your order if you refer someone to vitacost. com. I am not worried about the 10 bucks, but if you have family members who order Vitamins, you can get 10 off your order and they can get 10 off theirs. Syrax Matrix comes in a bunch of good flavors. Mint cookie is one of my favorites. vitacost is almost always cheaper for anything. I order almost everything from them. I love their Waldens sugar free chocolate.

I've been in a relationship for almost 6 months. It's a difficult one, because even though we love each other, we have nothing in common. It's really hard to find things we can do together. I don't know what to do. It's getting old always having him tell me he doesn't like to do that, when I suggest something. Plus he is way too clingy. He has no other friends because he moved here from CA and lives out in the country. He doesn't even come into town much. He's just not made any effort to make friends, other than women he has met through online dating. I need help with how to tell him he is smothering me and that I feel like since he never wants to do anything I want to do, I feel like this relationship is doomed.

It's very difficult because I still have feelings for him. He is willing to do so many things to make this work. He actually took my grandson to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" just because I was supposed to take care of him, and Wes really wanted to see this movie, and I didn't. He calls almost every day and asks if there's anything he can do for me, or if I need anything, and I said "It would be really helpful to me today if you took Wesley to see the turtle movie." He wants us to go to couples counseling. This town has so many losers in it, I am beginning to think maybe I should try to make this relationship work. Gosh, I can't be the only person who has problems with men.

It is very common with veteran sleevers. In the beginning, it's so hard to eat, and we are full from such little amounts of food. It's like I can't ever relax and expect to keep maintaining. All it takes is a few snacks and I am up 2 lbs, and if I don't get right back to basics, it's 2 more in no time at all. It's depressing. They way I look at it though, it's much easier to lose 10 than 100. I still have my tool and I know how to use it. Willpower is something that we have to have if we expect to live in everyone else's world.

Concerned for a friend's health

500 calories is just not enough if she is working out that much. It does sound obsessive to me. I would imagine she will not be able to keep up that kind of pace forever. I was that way in the beginning. Now, 5 years later, I'm thrilled with the sleeve, but I don' t have to work as hard to maintain as I did to lose. -
Sytrax nectar are one of the thinnest around. They are popular with people who like a fruity drink rather than chocolate. Sytrax also makes Matrix which is my favorite chocolate. I think they are great because when made with Water, they are only 120 calories and about 2 carbs. I think the cheapest place to get it is vitacost.com Free shipping if you order $49 which I always do. My last order was 140.00 cause I get my vit D 3 sub lingual b12, Calcium citrate capsules, etc. They have practically anything you can think of.

Okay vets - how are you doing on your vitamins/minerals supplements?
Oregondaisy replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm really good about taking my calcium citrate. I eat the chews by Bariatric Advantage. They have a pb one that is 500 mg so I only eat one of those. The choc ones are 250 so I have to eat 2 of those. Altogether, it's 1500 mg of calcium citrate per day. I love them. They are like dessert for me. I also take a muli and Iron and vit D with magnesium regularly -

Awe Kim, I am so sorry. I've gone through this with my parents and I know how hard it is. I hope you'll take your time going through things and going at your own pace. I did a lot of reading about grief during this time. I always go to the self help books for some reason. I guess I need to read that what I feel is normal. I am kind of stressing today because I have an offer on my house and he has to respond by 4 pm which is an hour from now. It's cash as is and I hate to take 15 grand less, but I just want it over with. I really need to get with the program and try to diet. Tuesdays are always a good day for me to try to stick with protein. For some reason, today I feel really hungry and I'm usually not. I seem to be going from 137-141 . When I hit 141 I get in my oh $hit mood and really try to fast. Where do you go when you read the board. What other content do you follow, Sheryl? What about some of the rest of you? Florinda, are you completely finished with that job for the government or whoever they were that took you over seas? How have you been feeling? Now that you're back in the US, can you get good medical care? -

I've taken these classes before. It's waltz, foxtrox, east coast swing, and I can't remember what the 4th one is. They are on monday nights and this way at least I can brush up since I haven't danced anything but shake your booty at the local bar. -

I was going to try to fast today but now my friend called and said she's coming over with taco bell. I am going to eat a very light dinner. yes, I do enjoy Bill but he can be so all consuming. I have explained that to him and he's trying to work with the person he is seeing on the several issues I have brought up. It kind of impresses me that he's willing to work so hard because he says he loves me so much and has so much to lose. I am still thinking I am going to take the dance classes that start later in the month. I'm going to call the college and find out what night they're on. -

Cathy, i hope your back is feeling better. I have back problems and it can really mess up your life! I'm glad you asked Florinda those questions, cause I want to know too! I probably need a counselor too. I get really confused about relationships. I hate men taking up time when I don't want them, but then when I am alone, I think I want one in my life again. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very hard to eat tiny portions for the rest of our lives. I am one of the lucky ones that don't experience much hunger. The 5:2 works well for me because once I get the carbs out of my system, I don't feel hungry so it's pretty easy to do the really low calorie days. I have to weigh daily. It's the only thing that will definitely keep my accountable. Today over 5 years out, I am 2 lbs up from my goal of 135. The biggest piece of advice I can give anyone is never take this surgery for granted. If you drink your calories with things like sweet tea ( I have a friend who has gained most of her weight back drinking that stuff) flavored coffees, etc, it's easy to drink a lot of extra calories. Plan your meals and snacks and don't snack between meals or in the evenings. That is the key to keeping it off. -
Question - difficulty eating and drinking all of a sudden. 3.5 months out

Are you on an acid blocker? Acid can cause all kinds of problems and you might not even know you have it. Most doctors put their patients on one immediately after surgery. -

What I said was there are some qualities that I love about him. I love his sense of humor, for one thing. He is one of the funniest people I have ever met. I guess if saying I love something about someone , it would be the same thing as you saying that you really like a certain quality about someone. -
I don't know if it's possible to "tone" stretched out skin. You can build muscle to fill some of it out. If you lose the weight that you want to lose, are you afraid you won't have the money for plastics down the road? Honestly, that is the only thing that is going to fix it. It's expensive and painful. There are so many more benefits to losing the extra weight. Besides being so much healthier, I am so much happier in all areas of my life. I am going to be 62 in October and people tell me all the time that I look like I am in my 40's. whatever. I love being able to buy new clothes and look good in them and I really don't care what I look like naked. My man doesn't care either.
