This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

I was a self pay too. I would have never heard about the sleeve if it weren't for this board. I wish I had gotten it from the beginning too, but I only found out about the band from going to support group with my daughter who had RNY. After I was banded, I found Lap Band Talk. I am glad Alex started the sleeve section of this board. I think more and more people will be getting revision surgeries. RNY is not a perfect surgery either. I have lost count of all the people who were morbidly obese got down to goal, and have gained it all back. The dumping does not last for everyone. Plus they stretch out their pouch. I don't have a problem with my band right now, but I always wonder when I will. I do have a problem with restriction too, and this is just another diet I am on long term. I can eat anything I want right now. I am going to get a fill in the beginning of March but it scares me. I want restriction back, but I don't want to go back to puking in the middle of the night. That is what scares me about the band. You really don't know you have damaged your stomach until it's already damaged. That's why I think cutting it off is the answer. Cut it off and I will be good to go, hopefully! I have been thinking of ways to come up with the money lately. Another problem is taking time off from work. When I was banded, I had surgery on a fri. and went back to work on monday. I don't think that will be possible with a revision, when I can literally see the scar tissue sticking out of my side near my port. YUCK!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

They said they were reading this from something posted on FB. I really don't care, but it's good to know that. It makes me want to be more careful that's for sure.

Donna here's hoping you and I get the perfect fill. Being too tight is dangerous, and it scares me to think I was too tight for a long time without problems with pbing and food getting stuck. Waking up from a sound sleep coughing, choking, and puking is not fun. It's scary. On another note, on the View this morning they read something on the air about Face Book. Apparently, when you sign up for FB, you give them the right to use anything you write or any of your pictures, however they choose to.

There are a lot of people who say they are happy with their bands, but yet have lists of foods they can't eat. So many bandsters fight constipation because they aren't able to eat fruits or veggies. I think there are a lot of people who are happy with their bands because they are thinner, but will still admit that they can't eat normally. I know Jacqui stresses eating a balanced diet, but for some bandsters, that is fairly impossible.

Are there any sleeve un-success stories?

What do you do if you get a leak? And how do you know if you develop one?

I wish there were more people who posted who have had their bands for years and years. It would be nice to know exactly how many years the band is going to stay in place without complications. I do know someone who has had his band for 8 years, but he can't tolerate any fill what so ever.
  7. It stands for productive burp. Basically, a pb is when you burp and food comes back up with it. For the most part, when we talk about pbing, it's not just a burp. It's throwing up. It's just that you throw up the food that is stuck, and not stomach bile. It seems no matter how tight I have been, I have always been able to eat bread. This is not a good thing. Actually, there never has been a food that I can't eat, as long as I chew it up until there is nothing left to chew.

    Lap band erosion

Someday your surgeon will be my surgeon!

Looks like we all need a fill. I am so happy to be able to get one, even though I have to wait until March 2nd. I was afraid after all that throwing up in the middle of the night, my surgeon would not let me have one. After speaking to him at support group, he feels like I could have a little one, which won't bring that problem back. I really hope that problem does not come back, because it was so weird to be able to eat anything I wanted in the daytime, have nothing ever get stuck, and find out I was too tight.

Unfortunately, Dr. Watkins hasn't been around lately. I would like to see his answer to your post.

    The "C" word: Constipation

I am 100 miles from Costco, but I will buy it there the next time I am out of town. This is good to know!

I like that. Right sizing of the stomach. All I need is enough to sustain me, not all that excess that causes me misery. I am happy that I got a band and lost weight, but I feel like I have a ticking time bomb wrapped around my stomach.

I am not the least bit nervous about having most of my stomach removed. Who needs it? Good riddance! All it has done is cause me misery by wanting it to be full beyond it's capacity. I am more nervous about a piece of silicone wrapped around my stomach, possibly eroding my stomach to the point that I will not be able to have any other weight loss surgery, once it fails.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

This thread has been a little inactive lately. Welcome Joanne. There should be a thread that is just for your state. You'll have to look on the main page, but I think there is one for every state. Best wishes on your journey!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Katy, I am so happy that your GP is taking care of you. He sounds like a very caring doctor and I am glad he found someone for you. I will keep you in my prayers as well.

There are machines at the gym that are very low impact. My gym just got some new ones that are like gliding in the air. A lot of people that have problems with their knees also do Water exercises. The thing with exercise is that once you are used to it, you really miss it when you're not doing it. I get very annoyed when something interferes with my gym time. I can't wait for the day when I can come up with the money to have my band removed and get the sleeve. I have so much scar tissue at my waist where the port and tubing are, it's hard to bend at the waist.I also have problems with restriction. I wish I had known about the sleeve from the very beginning. How are these people taking anitbiotics all the time and not dealing with yeast infections? This is a big problem in my life.

    Do you douche?

So Ebony, what are you using in your douche? I saw a new doctor today who is into alternative medicine. He told me to put he probiotic capsule into my vagina and that all this time taking it by mouth was not doing anything. I don't know if I agree with that though, because I notice that if I feel the burning of a yeast infection, it's better after taking the probiotic. I will still do as he says tonight before bed, as I have another urinary tract infection.

Miralax is a great thing. I hope they come out with a generic version of it. The only bad thing about it is that it's expensive.

Katy, I agree with everyone else. You need a different surgeon. Isn't he the one that said your band was not slipped?

    The "C" word: Constipation

My dr. encourages us to drink right up until it's time to eat then wait an hour after eating. A lot of people are using Miralax and my dr. said you can take it every day. It's tasteless.

    Dry Roasted Edamame

Thanks! I always wondered where I could buy it dry roasted. I put it in my salad at the salad bars. It's supposed to be really good for us.
