  1. Do they remove some of the scar tissue that has built up between the port and the tubing to the band? I really want to get rid of this thickness at my waist which I am sure is mostly scar tissue around the tubing.

    the end of sex

You probably are in need of some testosterone cream. It makes all the difference in the world. IT brings the desire back. Are you on any HRT at all. You will need something for dryness as well.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Kat I am very worried about you. I hope this surgeon can fix you up and make you well. I will definitely pray for that. I think you need to rest awhile after surgery before you make any decisions. After that, you could research the sleeve. There is nothing to slip. Not much can go wrong with that surgery, once it's all done. I pray for you to be well and have a good outcome.

That is such good news Kat. What is her diagnosis? I am glad she is home. She needs her mommy! Your TLC will make her well faster.

I question it as well. Just yesterday she talked about how she can't wait to be able to eat a snickers bar and still lose weight. I have given up talking to her about it. Her insurance has denied her, so it's up in the air as to whether she will win the appeal. I am really trying to figure out how to get a revision beginning of April. I will be in AZ anyway, so it's just a matter of getting down to San Diego. I am so afraid of going down there and having him tell me he won't do a revision surgery for one reason or another. I am going to call him Monday and see what is required. If all that is required is the fact that I still have an overweight bmi after 2 years of being banded, that would be great. I don't think another fill would ever get me to a normal bmi.

PJ, you sound too tight to me. I would stick on liquids and musshie foods for a few days and see if it will loosen on it's own. All that has to happen is for you to melt a little fat around your stomach and it will loosen. If it stays that way, you need to have a tiny unfill. You'll end up with what they call soft food syndromem and people don't lose well that way.

Yea, finally it does make some sense explained this way.

Thanks Mac. I just worry about my friend who is getting the sleeve because I know how she likes to eat. She eats out just about every day, and I just don't know how she is going to deal with taking the majority of her meal home. She is already talking about how after she has the sleeve, it won't bother her to eat small portions, because she will know she will be able to eat again soon. I wonder about that for me as well, because I eat out often too. But, I am used to eating like a bandster, so it will not be as big of a shock to me as it will be to her. It really bothers me right now that I am so loose that I can really eat anything I want to eat, and have to force myself to cut way back on my portion sizes. I remember when I was a lot tighter, and I told my daughter that eating was just too much trouble. I really liked that feeling. Nancy, Yes, my daughter's pregnancy does have everything to do with the 40 lbs she gained. She hasn't lost anything that she gained during her pregnancy. She assumed it would be easy to take her pregnancy weight off. She doesn't dump like she used to, so being able to eat sweets again is her downfall. There are many people with gastric bypass who get too thin and look terrible, but I really don't know anyone who stays that way long term. The gal that leads our support group had GP 10 years ago, and she is one of the only people I know that has kept all the weight off. BUT she works out like a mad woman and does not eat any sweets, and hardly any carbs. She is really good about weighing herself every day, and if she gains 5 lbs, she puts herself back on 4 Protein shakes a day. She reminds us all the time that WLS is just a tool, and no surgery is going to do all the work.

You know what is really scary? People shrink. My dad used to be 5'4" and now he is shorter than me. I am 5'2" . I don't want to shrink! Beth, be glad all she did was write you a nasty note. I got back to my car once and the person had keyed my brand new car. LJM, I am sorry you had a bad pb. I haven't done that in such a long time. I am getting a fill on 3/2 and I almost don't want to. I know that being able to eat anything I want right now is not a good thing though.

    Lap band erosion

What a bummer. That would stink being messed up right from the get go. It would seem like the dr would have to compensate the person in some way, if they admitted it was their error.

So again, there is clitoral stimulation going on. What I want to know is how is it possible to have an O without clitoral stimulation?

Misty, I have the band too, but I can eat way more than a fourth of a sandwich. I don't want to be so tight that I have to worry all the time about pbing or damaging my stomach. I am wondering how much a person with the sleeve can eat, and if it is upsetting to them to not be able to eat even a bandster size meal. That's why I asked Mac. I already know how much WasA can eat, because she told me.

    Lap band erosion

WasA, can you answer this person's question? I am not sure why a band would erode this soon, unless the surgeon made a mistake from the beginning. Your thoughts?

Nancy, Time will tell how well your daughter will be able to keep the weight off. Everyone in my support group who has had RNY past 3 years, really struggles to keep it off. They all exercise like crazy and do the best they can making good food choices. When they all gained weight at Christmas time, they all said at last support group that they can't seem to lose it. I know my daughter is 3 years out and has gained back 40 that she can't seem to lose. There are so many people in this town who have had the RNY and the 40 has turned into 80 down the road, and so on.

I hate pumping my own gas. I feel for ya. I have to do it when I visit my dad in AZ. Here in Oregon, it's against the law to pump your own gas. Unemployment here is one of the highest in the nation, so they don't want to put people out of jobs. Donna, did you get your fill? I can't remember when you said it was going to be. I am afraid to have anymore put back in, but being able to eat as much as I want is not a good thing for me.

So where do you think the O is coming from if you're not stimulating the clitoris? I really want to understand this for some reason, even though I would never try it. I am way too scared that it would be painful.

Mac, do you ever feel sad when you want to eat more than the sleeve will let you? I don't have that problem with the band, because with the fill I have, I can eat a normal size portion. It's willpower to take half the food and put it in a to go box, not the band. My friend is getting a sleeve, and I told her WasA said she could only eat 1/4 of a sandwhich. That made her sad. She asked how soon she would be able to eat the other 3/4. I mean, it has to be hard to go out to eat and not be able to eat even as much as someone banded can eat.

I really don't like fried anything. I just realized that. Every time I eat an onion ring, I pull the onion out and leave the breading. Same with fish and chips. I can't think of anything that I eat fried that I don't take the outside off I have to go to a baby shower this weekend. I plan to take an appetite suppressant to help me avoid cake. I have no willpower to watch people eat something I love, and chocolate cake calls for heavy artillery.

    The "C" word: Constipation

It's hard to get the fiber in that we need with the band. Fiber One cereal has about the most fiber in anything you can eat. All those fiber caps, benefiber, etc, can't compare to the amount of fiber you can get from a serving of fiber one.

    Lap band erosion

I hope someone comes in here to answer your question. I am not in the medical field, so I don't have an answer. Maybe you should start a new thread to ask this question . This question needs a thread all it's own. It's an important question. It does sound like something went wrong with his surgery.

Yes. He has the little band like I do, that only holds 4 ccs. Our surgeon has decided that band was too small for him to begin with. Plus he has fallen in love with running. You are exactly right. I was too tight and did not know it. I was fine in the daytime. I never pbed or threw up or whatever you want to call it. food never got stuck. Then I started puking in my sleep. When I had the esphagram, the barium just sat in my esophagus and never moved down through the band, until part of my fill was removed. It sure made me wonder how long my food was sitting in there. That is when I really started wishing I had known about the sleeve to begin with. You can be tight and not even know it, and do damage to yourself.

Congratulations Mac! I am afraid to get rid of all my fat clothes. I have this fear that my band will fail, my stomach will erode, and I will not be able to get a revision surgery. I have always been a worrier. When I was a freshman in H.S. I wondered what I would wear for senior pictures. I tried fried pickles. I was surprised a restaurant here had them. They just tasted like pickles. Kat has not checked in. I am wondering how DD is today.

Are there any sleeve un-success stories?

right, but I had my banding on a fri and went back to work on monday. I had no recovery to speak of. I know that won't be the case with all this scar tissue around my port.
  24. Oregondaisy

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

The band is very fickle. That is what I don't like about it. It seems to have a mind of it's own. Some foods will work fine, then all of a sudden, the next time you try it , it's a no go. I have heard from many many people who say that their band tightens when they are under stress.

Are there any sleeve un-success stories?

You already know which doctor I will be going to. I have been thinking about it a lot lately, how to arrange the time off work, see my dad, and get the surgery all at once. It's kind of a juggling act with my dad's situation. I am sure I will not be able to go back to work as fast as I did with LB surgery.
