I still have all my clothes in all the sizes. I have always been afraid something would go wrong with my band and it would have to be removed. Now I have decided on my own to have it removed and get the sleeve. Once that is over with, I will get rid all those clothes. The sleeve is permanent and there is no chance of it slipping or eroding so I will feel like it's okay to be confident that I won't need those clothes.

How much time off work for revision from band to sleeve
Oregondaisy posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have decided I am sick of the band and I want it out. I can't tell my boss why I need time off work. I really had no recovery with the band surgery. I had it on a fri and went back to work on Monday. I had no pain what so ever and really could not even tell I had surgery. I have heard that the revision surgery is more painful due to having the port removed. Does anyone know how much time I will need off from a desk job? I really plan to sneak out of town and only tell my kids what I am doing. Not many people even know I have the band. Thanks, I appreciate any advice anyone can give me.:hurray: -

Yes, you really can't go by how fast you're losing to figure out if you need a fill. You can tell if you have restriction. If you have good restriction, you have to eat slowly and chew very well. The only person that can judge if you need a fill is yourself. I can tell by the way my food is going down if I need a fill. Like right now, I can eat anything I want and hardly chew. It's like I don't have a band at all. I am getting a tiny one MOnday, because I don't want to go back to throwing up. If I start throwing up with an itty bitty fill, I am going to have my band removed and get a sleeve. -

I would be happy to send her out of town! She keeps calling me because she says I am the only person she trusts, but I am not allowed to tell her anything. I really hate being in the middle. I think I am just going to tell her to think back on things and try to remember what her son could have told the authorities. Maybe a light bulb will come on. -
Anyone here who has a slipped band should start reading the section of the board where people are getting sleeves. the alternative is damaging your stomach to a point where no weight loss surgery will work or be possible. it's diet and exercise or nothing if that happens and we all know how well that has worked for us in the past.

I am such a baby when it comes to pain, but I will take pain meds if I have to! Will dr. aceves send me home with a script? -
I really loved that movie. We should put that one in the movie thread.

You will definitely lose as you get more fills. You're way ahead of the game already. I lost 22 lbs on my post op diet the first 4 weeks then lost nothing for the next 4 months! -

exactly. I don't want anyone to think I don't have empathy for all this stuff that is going on, but this is one thread that is really hard to reply back to everyone. It's not that I don't want to but I find it rather impossible. Yea, it's my effed up niece (by marriage no relation I must add) She just had a baby and has a 13 yr old and a 6 yr old and just had her 3rd boy. The nurses in the hospital reported her for some other weird stuff. I have to say that my daughter is one of the nurses on that unit. Her poor 13 yr old finally realized that he could not handle another baby being brought into that situation. It's one really sick situation. -

Good thing I will be having it done in the spring. I may have to sleep in the recliner for awhile and it's cold in my family room! I know some people said they had to do that have after band surgery, but like I said before I experienced zero pain after my band surgery. -

Congratulations Orea! Flowers, listen to Katy. Being too tight is not a good thing. If you don't think you're too tight, that's fine. But if you are experiencing any problems, talk to your dr. There are too many people posting on this board that their band eroded their stomach to a dangerous point. Katy, I am so sorry you have to go through this. I am really glad you found a good surgeon this time. -

I am sorry but I am always too lazy. I do read them all though, and feel empathy. I just spend entirely too much time on LBT. Somebody tell me how a grown woman can sit naked on her 13 yr old son's face and fart and think this is normal behavior? No, I will not be taking the kids, but I am sure I will be helping out a great deal with their care. -

PJTP I don't know how people can take speed. I have a cold right now and I took some cold medicine. I feel all jumpy and wonder why people would take something to feel this way on purpose. Lots of drama on this thread. My niece had her kids taken away including a new baby she had on Monday. I am going to court tomorrow and will find out exactly how abusive she was to her older kids. The sad part is she has really good kids. -

chewable multi vitamin advice
Oregondaisy replied to Dee66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does calcium citrate come in a chewable? My dr. and nutritionist both told me that the body hardly absorbs calcium carbonate. At my age, I don't want osteoporosis. I chew up those chocolate calcium chews too, but they are calcium carbonate, so I think I do it mainly because they taste good. I take the citrucil petites which are calcium citrate, but I want to go to chewables. Does anyone know if you can get calcium citrate in a chewable? I don't have a costco here. I get everything at walmart, but I will order online if I have to. -
Major "discomfort"
Oregondaisy replied to monicapv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gall bladder pain is on the right side by your ribs. It usually goes through into your back. I can't say if that's what pain you're experiencing, but the lap band surgery pain usually does not last very long. People are back to their old selves pretty quickly. Which side is your port on? I think you're doing fine on what you're eating and drinking. Make sure you drink water too. -
This thread will go on for years.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
pb stands for productive burp. Sometimes you burp and food comes with it. It's not a very good term. Most of the time, when food gets stuck and will not go through the band, it's painful until it comes up. First your mouth keeps filling up with thick saliva, which is the body's way to try to bring up the offending food. Then sometimes you will throw up this same stuff, we call slime. Eventually, the food that is stuck will come up and it's not like a burp at all. It;s more like puking, but it doesn't have stomach acid with it. No, it is not a good thing. That is the reason we say chew up your food until there is nothing left to chew. Too much of this throwing up can cause the band to slip. It usually happens if you're too tight or have too much of a fill. If you are tight like that, it's very important to take itty bitty bites and chew it up until it's mush. -
