Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I always say I am allergic to ice cream . It makes me break out in big rolls of fat. -
Does anyone regret getting their LB?
Oregondaisy replied to katskradle22's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used to love my band until I started choking on vomit in my sleep. I am revising to a sleeve soon. The band was great at first, until that started happening. I am not having trouble now, but I have no restriction. I ate a plate of spaghetti and 2 pieces of garlic bread tonight. okay, call me an over eater, but that is what I got the band for. If I were to get a fill, I would go back to choking on vomit in my sleep. It's a very fine line between being too tight and being too loose. I am tired of worrying about fills and unfills so I am getting the sleeve surgery. Sorry, but I have to be truthful here. -
Kissing the Band Bye-Bye! Yes!!!

I wish I was going the same time as you two. I can't even believe I will be so close in Phoenix and I can't come down cause it's my dad's 90th birthday. If it weren't for that, I would have gone then too. -
Finally restricted and completely lost
Oregondaisy replied to penlady37's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This should change. As you lose weight, the fat pad around your stomach melts and the band becomes looser. That's why people need another fill. Try drinking a Protein shake to up your protein and calories. You could always drink a Protein Drink twice a day too, and one meal. the protein drink should go right through your band no matter how tight it is, if you drink it slowly, so you can get your necessary protein and calories . -

I have a hard time with those Fiber one bars. They are so good. I stopped buying the box of 30 even though it's so much cheaper than buying the box of 5. I just want to keep eating them. I need fiber so I rationalize that I need to buy them. There's no fiber in a high Protein diet without a lot of fruit, etc. It seems no matter how many veggies I eat, I am constipated. The sleeve surgery is going to be done laparoscopic . It's going to provide me with perfect restriction all the time without worrying about fills or unfills or being over filled. Right now I have no restriction and it's not a good thing. -

How in the heck do you stay on track with all that baking? I can't even be around chocolate cake. You must have more willpower than any of us put together. I would eat the entire cake by myself. -
*Susan* revision from band to sleeve

You will love the Peanut Butter and chocolate. It's really good. What are you going to use for your 10 days on clear? The unjury unflavored and chicken soup 6 packs each, will not be enough for 10 days. Are you going to buy Isopure somewhere? We don't have a GNC in this dinky town I live in, so I will be stuck ordering everything online. I did find some packets of stuff left over from banding. some grape stuff I bought from my dr.'s office and never used. I have no idea how it tastes. However it tastes, I will have to gag it down. It's so cool that you and Elizabeth will be there at the same time. If my dad's 90th birthday wasn't April 1st, I would be there too. I am bummed. -

My surgeons nurse's husband has been banded 8 years without a problem. BUT he has no fill and never has. He took up running and manages his weight that way. He has the 4 cc band and they are thinking the band was just too small for him to begin with, but now that he's lost the weight, it's fine, but doesn't need or want a fill. -

You can take Miralax for constipation which is a powder you mix in water or any other liquid. It basically has no taste and my doctor says it's the best thing to be on long term. -

Oregondaisy replied to RABarras's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Mac. I think the sleeve will be a much better choice for me too. If I didn't know about the sleeve, I would think I just needed a fill. I am scared to death to get one after being too tight. I am glad that soon, I will never have to worry about that again. -

I am going alone too Elizabeth. I have to believe that it doesn't matter if I am alone because of all of the wonderful things I have heard about Dr. Aceves. You, Susan, and me will all just be about a month apart. I wish you the best, and April fools day is a good day! It's my daughter and my dad's birthday! -

I will try the cinnamon tic tacs. That sounds great. Let me tell you, it's very easy to put weight back on when you get to goal. I have been slacking on exercise lately, and have been gaining and losing the same lbs. I use to exercise 6 days a week in the weight loss phase and now things just seem to be getting in my way. -

Are you going to meet while I am there?

Oregondaisy replied to RABarras's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I am unhappy that I didn't know about the sleeve until after being banded. Now I have to come up with that money twice. BUT, I would have never known about the sleeve it if weren't for this board. I guess everything happens for a reason. -

You know you scare me when you say things like that. I was just thinking about how depressed I am going to be if I can only eat 3 bites. -
Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to vbaum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My left shoulder is hurting me right now, and I am post surgery over 2 years. I do know someone who had their band removed because it was so bad that they just couldn't take anymore. Mine is not that severe but it's definitely annoying. -
*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to *susan*'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Thank you! That is a relief. I hope I do as well as you! I've just heard that revision surgery is more painful than someone just getting sleeve surgery. I honestly had no pain what so ever when I got banded, so it's nice to hear from someone that just went through it. -

Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to vbaum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am having my band removed. It's not because of shoulder pain. If I had known about the sleeve surgery before now, I would have never gotten the band. I feel it will be a better surgery for me. There are no fills or unfills, and I am tired of not having restriction, but if I get a fill, I start having all sorts of problems. -

Oregondaisy replied to RABarras's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Some people are very happy with their bands. Then all of a sudden they are not anymore! Band problems can start out of the blue. I don't know anyone who has had the band for say like 10 years, that isn't having problems. -
I hate it when people post just to post.....
Oregondaisy replied to TerriDoodle's topic in The Lounge
I agree too. I remember in the mod thread when they were all talking about site issues, Alex posted that Ken was working on them. I asked "who in the heck is Ken" I have never seen in posting at LBT before that one thread though. It's probably because they just did a big overhaul on changing servers. -
*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to *susan*'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am really excited. Did you have a lot of pain where they removed your port? I am a little worried about pain as I have a very low pain tolerance. I have to get on that plane and if I am in pain, I am afraid it will be miserable. Hey, I have had my band for 2 years and almost 3 months. we must have gotten banded right around the same time. I had no pain what so ever after band surgery, so I am a little worried about being in a lot of pain when I wake up.
