Did you go to Dr. Aceves? If you did, we were there at the same time. My surgery was 4-29

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I never knew about the sleeve either when I was banded. I too wish I had gotten it straight from the beginning. I went through so much with all the fills, trying to find restriction. Everyone I know that has the sleeve absolutely loves it. You don't have to deal with certain foods getting stuck, or being tight in the morning, or being tighter one day and loose the next. You have restriction right after surgery and there really is no aftercare going back to the doctor because you're so hungry and are not losing weight. -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not nearly as hungry as I was the first few days. I started drinking more protein drinks and that has helped. I expect once I move on to foods, that will be the end of hunger. It has been for everyone else. I have heard of some other people being hungry on clear liquids. I get to move to full liquids on Mother's day, so I can have soup! Yay! -
All you can do is call and ask . they have their toll free# listed to the right of the screen.

Acid relux after band...Is it normal?
Oregondaisy replied to pappyny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Restless monkey is right. You should tell your doctor because acid reflux with an unfilled band is not a good thing. You can't stay that way or you are at risk for a whole bunch of problems. -
Acid relux after band...Is it normal?
Oregondaisy replied to pappyny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you completely unfilled? If you get reflux without a fill, you're going to have real problems if you get a fill. Ask your doctor for a prescription for Nexium of one of the other acid reducers. -
what else can I have on clear liquid diet
Oregondaisy replied to slimm2be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mixed crystal light with unflavored Protein powder. If you get some unflavored protein powder, you can mix it in just about anything. There is Hawaiian punch sugar free that's tasty. A lot of people just use Isopure because it's easy. -
Why do women have anal sex?

Yeah, it's nice since Alex created the girl's room for us to talk about anything we wanted. This thread has been a real eye opener for me. -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you! I did love my band for a long time. Once complications set in, it got expensive because my insurance doesn't cover anything band related. I think the sleeve is a good option. Everyone I know that has it really loves the sleeve too. I have lost 9 lbs in a week. I know that is from being on the clear liquids, but I am still happy about it! -
That's good to know. Better to just stay away then instead of hoping the sleeve will force a reasonable sized serving.

Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.

Thank you. I will try to convince her to try it. She is convinced all protein powders are going to taste yucky. -
Oregondaisy's turn for sleeve surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am doing better today with the hunger. I decided to get some extra Protein in and that has helped. I feel bad for Elizabeth and Susan who felt like they had to force liquids. I have the opposite problem. I want liquids non stop, since that's all I can have. I mixed my unflavored Protein powder with a new flavor of crystal light today and made an extra one just now. I should make it through the evening without my stomach gnawing away at me. (I hope) -
I Need a Boost-Me-Up- Please Help
Oregondaisy replied to roseyandmusic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey that's pretty cool. Seriously though, your wife is going to need support when she gets the sleeve. The first few weeks on the liquid diet are difficult. It's nice to have people know what you're going through. -
A thread for Single Bandsters
Oregondaisy replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You sound too tight to me. Having a slight unfill does not mean you have to have a lot taken out. The tiniest amount can make a huge difference. Weight loss is not good if you aren't getting adequate protein. Most people start losing again once they get that little tiny unfill. Plus, throwing up a lot is what causes a slip. -
Oh I am not big into chips. I was just wondering how full certain things make us with this tiny stomach. Ice cream is definitely my down fall and with the band, I could eat way too much. It just slid right through the band. I know I have to stay away from it. I am really curious though if getting full fast with the small stomach applies to all foods. This is all new to me.

Doctor Recommeded Against Lap Band
Oregondaisy replied to winnmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most people do love their bands at first . That's until the complications set in. Why don't you do some research on the sleeve? There are no fills, no unfiils, no possibility of port flipping, erosion or band slippage. Once you start having complications, the band gets very expensive. go to the sleeve section of this board and read everyone stories about why they got a revision to a sleeve and go the the complications section of the board and read all the stories of the trouble people have had with their bands too. -

what kind of work do you do that you sit around all day? Tell your wife she would enjoy the support once she gets her sleeve and teach her how to find us. I bet she will be glad she did. -
*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to *susan*'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
That is so great! With the band I always ate the veggies first even though we were told to eat protein first. If I at the protein first, I had no room for veggies and that was not okay with me. I can't wait to get off clears! My incision was completely closed up last night. I washed it with the wash cloth with hot water and it opened again.I was glad I think it's too early for it to completely close. It's a week today. -
You're lucky Susan. Dr. Aceves did not use any of my same spots. The one the surprises me is the incision right between my boobs. That is pretty high up from the stomach and all the rest of the incisions.

I didn't know Jillian had a book. That is worth looking for.

I wonder how many chips one would be able to eat since we get full so fast. It would seem, not enough to do much damage considering the size of our stomachs.
-
I wish I was not able to gulp large drinks of water since I am not supposed to .It's very difficult for me to sip and watch the clock until I can have more.

Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
Oregondaisy replied to Elisabethsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Vegas Angel, does the protein powder you bought at Albertsons change the taste of what you put it in. I am worried about my friend that is getting sleeved tomorrow. She is really a picky eater. another question- does it smell weird or gross. She said food tastes bad if the smell isn't right. -
Get the book called The Beck Diet Solution. It's not a diet. It's a method to stop binge eating and overeating in general. It helped me a lot. Yes, the band will stop hunger, but it will not stop head hunger. You know that feeling " I want something, what sounds good?" That's head hunger, not stomach growling gnawing starving hunger.

It's yummy and I am bummed that I am on clear liquids right now and I can't have it until Saturday.
