*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
Oregondaisy replied to *susan*'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It's true. The band does have a mind of it's own. There are so many things that can cause it to get tighter. Most people do complain about being too tight in the morning, and tighter during their period. I never had either of those two problems, but sure did if I did not chew well enough! I am glad I am done with all of it. -

That is a recipe for disaster. Anything going down totally not chewed is going to get stuck. -
yeah, I have tried Lunesta and it does not work for me. I wake up in 2-3 hours with it, or I can't fall asleep at all. I was really thankful when Ambien went generic.

I do not agree with your dr. The band is meant to work with hard protein. You sound too tight to me. If I were you, I would get a slight unfill. Even having the smallest amount of saline taken out can make a huge difference. It is NOT normal to be able to eat a minimal amount of real food!

ps= plastic surgery. A lot of people eat those 100 calorie bags of popcorn -
It's nice because they can see the saline going through the band and can tell exactly how it's flowing and whether it's too tight or not tight enough.

I really don't see how a band could slip so quickly. that just does not sound right to me. -

I usually have sf jello,or sf pudding or sf fudsicles or popsicles. I noticed today that crystal light came out with popsicles. -
Thank you! I just looked up causes of hair loss and it said 4 months after major surgery, people experience hair loss. That is right when mine started with banding. I hope it's not just a fact for me that if I have surgery, I lose hair. I stocked up today on all the necessary vitamins and supplements, but then again, I did that with banding and lost it anyway.

I was in the hospital 3 nights. My surgery was Wed. 4-29. I got home on 5-2. I went back to work on the next Tues. I could have gone back to work on Monday but there were some things I need to get done at places that aren't open in the daytime. I am on full liquids. I did clear liquids for 10 days. I move to mushy this sat. He said if I do fine on full liquids I can move to mushy at a week instead of 10 days. I feel great! Have already lost 10 lbs so that makes me happy. -
What symptoms would you have if you needed B12?

it's always better to do it under fluroscope. If you don't have to pay extra for it, that's the way to go.

That is perfect advise. Throwing up frequently is not normal.Throwing up in the middle of the night, coughing and choking is definitely a sign of problem and one needs to get to the doctor. Yes, the esophagus is being damaged.

It is possible that you are not losing because you are too tight. The band is meant to work with hard protein. People that are too tight tend to eat soft high calorie foods that don't stick with them and they are hungry again soon. If you're sure you're chewing until liquid that first bite that you said you get stuck on, and still throwing up, you need to get a slight unfill. I would try that before anothe surgery. Are you exercising? -
I didn't know there was an airport in Calixico. I had to be picked up in San Diego.

I go to the gym. I hated curves. I hated the music they played and I hated using the same machines over and over in a circle. I love they gym. My gym has all the cardio machines hooked up to the tvs so I can watch tv while I work out. I also really enjoy the classes they have. -
Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.

Thanks. Dr. Aceves also told me to take Zinc. He said hair loss was related to not enough zinc. I need to pick some of that up too. -

Right, but that would fall under my thousand $$$ deductible. I can go to the dr. and pay a co pay but any tests come under that deductible. -
You could very well be in what is caused perimenopause, although that would be early. It goes on for 10 years before actual menopause. Insomnia can start in perimenopuase. Sometimes doctors will prescribe anti depressants for people who can't sleep. some of them cause people to feel drowsy but you have to be careful cause the side effect for a lot of them is weight gain. if he offers you any antidepressant, look it up online.

Elizabeth, on another thread you told me to get my blood checked. Didn't Dr. A check everything with all the bloodwork they did? I have 1,000.00 deductible on my insurance, and after spending all that money getting my sleeve, I don't want to run up a big dr. bill -

Don't get another fill if you're getting food stuck now. Being too tight is not good and not the road to weight loss. In fact, you may consider getting a slight untill. People don't eat right when they are too tight. -

I forgot it was hot there. It's 50 degrees here. I bought some tomato soup from my dr.'s office today. it's 80 calories and has 15 grams of protein and only 4 carbs. I am concerned about keeping my protein up because I was told protein is necessary for healing as well as I don't want my hair falling out again. It's been over 2 years since banding and it's still not recovered. -

I am glad I like them. I like them a lot in fact. I thought you said you like the whey gourmet pb and chocolate? There are also some recipes on the food section of good ways to jazz them up. Susan, did you ever get any of the hot chocolate? Cottage cheese is also pretty high in protein. -
Salads are one of the only ways I get my veggies. I use spinach instead of lettuce and put in broccoli and cauliflower, carrots, etc. That article is nutty.

Ross is a great store. It's so much fun to find good deals. I have also enjoyed Old Navy. I never used to be able to fit into their clothes.
