did you happen to read that post?

I have heard from some doctors with the complication rates being so high from banding, that bands will become obsolete. So I guess if you want a band, get it while you can. -
Oregondaisy's turn for sleeve surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you're supposed to start out with 2 oz. but 2 oz of mashed up fish is pretty hard to judge without measuring. I have had 8 oz protein shakes and yogurt with no trouble. -
Oregondaisy's turn for sleeve surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I found out last night what it feels like to be too full. I didn't realize i was that full at the table. When I got up, I knew I was in trouble. It was a miserable time for at least a couple of hours. I am surprised my stomach did not burst . It sure felt like it was going to! No more eyeballing food for me. I have a little measuring device I got from my lap band surgeon and I am going to have to start using it. It's obvious after last night that I am not a good judge of how much to eat. It didn't look like that much, and I stopped when I thought I was full, but obviously, I didn't stop soon enough. What a nightmare that was. -
Take immodium. it works fast. I had to take it nearly every day there for a little while.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Oregondaisy replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly, I am glad to be done with all of that. I am really enjoying having the sleeve. I get full fast and never have to worry about being too tight or too loose. I am really glad that I never ever have to go back for another fill. -
I have to also be careful that they don't have any of that sugar alcohol junk in them. They cause so much gas that it's almost unbelievable.

Oregondaisy's turn for sleeve surgery

You know, I am perfectly happy with protein shakes. Now that I have been taking lactaid, I am not having problems. I have no real desire to eat. I wonder if you have to do the progression on to mushies and solids if you don't really feel like eating. I had some yogurt and egg salad today because I thought I was supposed to, but I really wanted a protein shake. I really like them and they are easy! -
thanks Mac. I knew you would come through for us!

I love the carmel nouget ones and the ones that say morning on them are a chocolate Peanut Butter crunchy kind. You can get a really good Protein drink whey Gourmet Chocolate Peanut butter at Netrition.com - The Internet's Premier Nutrition Superstore! there are only 3 carbs in there and made with Water it's 120 calories.

WasAbubblebutt and MacMadame are the ones that have all the links to the stats. I am sure they will chime in. I understand why you would not want to self pay twice, like I did. Read Elizabeth and Susan's threads on why they got a revision to a sleeve . My band problems started right at about 2 years.

Deposit paid, flights booked, almost ready
Oregondaisy replied to Jagator88's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't wear a bra the entire time I was in the hospital. But then again, I never wear one at home. I am not overly endowed in that area. the incisions really aren't high up where a bra would irritate them. I do have one tiny one right between my boobs that's about a half inch or less. the rest are in the middle of my stomach. -
low carb slim fast doesn't have many carbs. as far as Protein bars, the only ones that don't have a ton of carbs are the Atkins ones. same with their shakes. There are some better ones but you have to get them online. there are several good web sites that show how many carbs there are in foods. Some people say net carbs make no difference. Net carbs are the total carbs minus how ever many grams of fiber are in the product. Nina wants you to do this so you aren't so hungry on the post op diet. Carbs are what cause the hunger. Have you ever read any of the Atkins books?

Dilated Esophagus - My Band was unfilled!!!

try highlighting her entire post and you should be able to read it. I am not sure if you can change the color once somebody posts, but I tried highlighting it and it darkened it. -
My surgery date with Dr Aceves June 17th!!
Oregondaisy replied to debking811's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hope things go as well for you as they did for me. I was expecting pain and for the most part there was none. I was in pain when I first woke up from surgery, but not surgical pain. It was my left shoulder from the gas they use during surgery. It hurt through the night, but by the next morning it was gone. I am really glad Dr. Campos loaned me his computer because otherwise I would have been bored out of my mind. It sounds like you'll have plenty of company! -
That whole falling below the yellow line is a bunch of garbage. People who lose over 10 lbs in one week should not be punished for not losing as much the next week when they worked just as hard.

Anyone with BMI 33 or less having VSG surgery?
Oregondaisy replied to debking811's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's why I had my revision surgery as soon as I could do it. I gained back 15 and could easily see myself gaining weight month after month. It was just like prebanding. I lose weight all week long and gain on the weekends. Then it got to a point where I could not lose what I gained over the weekend again. I am enjoying not being hungry. People tells me eventually the hormone that causes hunger starts coming back. I wish it would never come back. -
I thought that was why they always say percentage of weight lost but I guess it wouldn't matter if one person lost more lbs like you are saying. They should say percentage of excess weight.

Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
Oregondaisy replied to Elisabethsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't know how you can do that. I have a good friend who is a nurse and works grave yard, on one week and off one week. She still sleeps all day on her week off so she stays on the same schedule. It's nice for me since I have insomnia because I can call her at midnight and know it's not too late to call and that she is always up at that time. I am glad you're enjoying solids! You went through hell with that band. -

Does anyone know if the dilated esophagus I got from having my band just goes away on it's own? I have been wondering about that. Dr. Aceves said banded people ended up using our esophagus for a stomach. What stops us being able to do that now that we have the sleeve? -
There is something called Nectar that you order online. Everyone seems to like the fuzzy navel flavor. You can get broth from Ungury.com and they also have unflavored protein powder. I got my unflavored protein powder from GNC. Isopure is a clear liquid with a lot of protein and you can order that online or get it at GNC.

I never had any pain when I got the revision to the sleeve. The first night of the surgery I had pain in my left shoulder but it was gone the next day. I went back to work in less than a week.

Possibility of geting Band removed w/a Revision
Oregondaisy replied to bartoe's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
There are a lot of us who have had revision surgery to a sleeve. Go to the sleeve section of the board and you can read everyone's story. The sleeve section is almost at the bottom when you go to forums. I am thrilled to have my band out and never have to worry about fills or unfills. -
Trying to understand fatty liver
Oregondaisy replied to KOLaficionado's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an ultra sound on my liver pre surgery and it showed I had a fatty liver. Recently I had another ultra sound and it showed no sign of a fatty liver. Losing that excess weight is great for the liver! -
Oregondaisy's turn for sleeve surgery

Well I am happy to report that I was wrong this time. Dr. Campos did call me back. He told me to take immodium before meals and that things would return to normal when I am on solids, not mushy. He said the reason for this is because the stomach is so much smaller, the food is entering the intestines much faster than normal and that is what is causing it to run right through.
