Effects of anesthesia
Oregondaisy replied to Malaika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
tylenol pm has the same ingredient as bendryl. It's just tylenol with that added to it. -
can't you go online and look in the yellow pages?
-
yes. It's GNC brand. I didn't think it changed the taste of anything I put it in, but like I said, people tell me I don't taste things right because my sense of smell is off. That's one of the things I don't like about the lean dessert choc. coconut. I think it does have an aftertaste.

Effects of anesthesia
Oregondaisy replied to Malaika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have insomnia all the time and have had for years. I take a bunch of different stuff. If I took the same thing all the time, it stops working. I take Ambein, or Restoril but sometimes I take valerian or Kava Kava. Unisom in the orange box is good too. You have to read the ingredients. They have a unisom that is the same ingredient as benedryl, and another one that's a different ingredient. -
I think it's from having so many years of allergies. I can smell something if I stick it right up to my nose, but not any other way. I had my daughter stick her nose in the jug and ask her what it smelled like, and she said there was no smell.

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
Oregondaisy replied to shanda7182's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a clue where the mall was. It was about 15 minutes by taxi. The taxi driver drove like a crazy person and I got to see quite a bit of the town. There were nice stores in that mall. One was like Macy's. I thought it was really funny that I tried to order a burger king jr. whopper with Water and no fries at the food court and got "No habla English" I had to got and get the lady I was with to order for me. She was off looking for a phone charger. -
oh yeah, I shove everything I can think of down my throat. Dr. Aceves recommended zinc so I added that to all the other stuff. I take a mulit vitamin, b complex, biotin, chewable calcium citrate, ground flax seed, and a bunch of other supplement that I have to take for interstitial cystitis.

It says unflavored right on the jug. I have no sense of smell so that could be the reason I didn't think it changed the flavor of anything I put it in.

I've posted this on quite a few threads. I bought GNC's brand of unflavored protein powder and mixed it in everything clear. I had no trouble getting the protein in. I didn't think it changed the taste of anything I put it in.

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
Oregondaisy replied to shanda7182's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WasA has a great email on Dr. Aceves and all his credentials. My daughter is an Rn and she was really freaked out about me going to MX. She felt so much better after I forwarded WASa's email to her. I still have it and can send it to you , or I am sure WasA will send it to you. I loved Mexicali. I had a blast there. It would have been more fun if I had somebody with me, but the lady I met on the ride over from San Diego was from Texas and spoke Spanish. We took a taxi ride to the mall, and it was a big mall. It was hard for me to see t shirts and stuff in Peso prices. I wish I had bought some clothes, but I wasn't sure how much weight I would lose. I am a big fan of Dr. Aceves and all his staff as well. I thought Sergio was extremely nice nurse and he always made sure to bring Dr. Campos' computer to me at 3:00 when they were done with it, and they let me use it until the next morning. -
Great idea! I've never tried the isopuke from a powder. I have only tried the bottles. I really didn't think it was all that bad.
-
that is great news!

I am going with aide. It's a great aide in helping with weight loss. I love never being hungry. I eat because I watch the clock and think oh it's time to eat. I am sure if I wanted to, I could go 24 hours and not eat anything. I drink the Protein drinks because my hair fell out when my husband died, and it fell out when I had band surgery. Now I had surgery and a death in the family, so I am freaked that I am going to lose more hair when it's still not recovered from band surgery.

They have it at GNC. It's their brand. It's GNC unflavored whey protein.

I'm GAGGING Here!!!!
Oregondaisy replied to Malaika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got used to drinking things at room temp. when I had the band, so now I seem to prefer that. I can drink really cold things though, but with the band, I could not. -
Sleeve vs. Lap Band
Oregondaisy replied to time2enjoylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish my sweet tooth would go away. My boss had these fabulous chocolate truffles at work. The deal is though, that I can eat a couple of them and not gain weight because I am doing 130 cal. protein drinks for breakfast and lunch. -
I got the muscle milk light at costco. You can buy case of it for around $20. They also make it in a powder. I have never tried that. I have seen the powder at GNC though. It's full liquid. The gourmet Whey is very smooth. Neither the Peanut Butter flavor or the chocolate flavor are over bearing. It's not too sweet. That's a good idea. I know where to get the sf syrups here. I never thought about adding more coconut or more chocolate. I have raspberry which WasA suggested I add to chocolate and it's good that way. I have a ton of Protein powders left over, but I don't mind because I don't like to cook or do dishes so I am happy with Protein drinks for Breakfast and dinner.

And is this considered a clear liquid? I just used GNC unflavored Protein powder and put it in crystal light. It really wasn't clear anymore, cause the Protein Powder isn't clear, but it's thin enough to be clear. I don't know if I was bending the rules or not, but it worked great for me.

Sleeve vs. Lap Band

I love how you put that so eloquently, WASa! I'll have to remember that ice Water trick! -
My daughter was hell to raise between the age of 13-17 but now at 28 she is like a best friend.

I took capsules right off the bat. I was able to drink a lot of water right from the beginning. I think it would be a problem if you are one of the people that have to take little tiny sips of water. -

I used GNC unflavored Protein powder and put it in all sorts of stuff. I have no sense of smell and people tell me that changes how things taste though. I put it in unsweetened apple juice, although this was not my favorite. There are all sorts of sugar free drink mixes out now a days. I had no trouble what so ever getting my protein in because one scoop of this stuff is 20 grams of whey protein. You can't put it in warm things because it will get lumpy, but you can put it in crystal light. -
yeah, for some strange reason I thought frozen yogurt would have a different reaction than ice cream. It was different all right, but definitely not better. I have even tried taking lactaid before eating these things and it's a no go. I hope it's this way forever. You know the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Call me insane, but I think I have finally learned my lesson and won't be trying ice cream or frozen yogurt for a very long time.

Sleeve vs. Lap Band
Oregondaisy replied to time2enjoylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MacMadame researched the band and went straight to sleeve. The band is a pain in the you know what. I wish I had known about the sleeve from the beginning. Getting your fill right is no easy task. You don't really lose weight until you have restriction, and you don't get that right away with the band like you do with the sleeve. I didn't have band problems until I had it almost 2 years, and I got to goal with the band, but once the band problems start, they won't stop. I am sure WasA and Elizabeth will elaborate but I can tell you to avoid the band and get the sleeve. I have talked several of my friends out of getting the band and getting the sleeve. There are quite a few threads already, I do believe, explaining why the band sucks.
