From Couch to Triathlete - A Sleeve Story
Oregondaisy replied to MacMadame's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mac would you do me a favor and take a look at the thread I started in the food section on rating liquid Protein. I know you tried quite a few and it would be nice for us to hear your reviews. -
That's why it would be nice if people would tell us if they found a good one. It seems like Mac didn't like most but finally found one she did like. LBT has a section for the post op phases but we don't seem to have anything here like that, other than the food section. I need to ask Mac which one she found to be okay.

Oh I can't wait to try that tofu recipe!

I'd almost decided but now I'm not so sure....

I really think it's just a matter of time before anyone who has the band starts having problems. They may not be having problems at this time, but it is my feeling that they will eventually. I have a friend who has had the band for 7 years. She sleeps sitting up with a bowl next to her bed every night in case she throws up in her sleep. She seems to think this is just fine. She will do anything to keep her band. I had that same problem, and I knew I could not live like that any longer. I didn't have any problems in the day time, but I was really worried about what this was doing to my stomach, inside where I could not see. -
Sleeve vs. Lap Band
Oregondaisy replied to time2enjoylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder if sweets and fats will always make us sick. They say it's not dumping, like the dumping with RNY, but I definitely feel nauseous if I eat more than a little bit of something sweet. It might be the combination of sweet and fat that makes me so sick when I eat ice cream. It's really stopped my cravings for ice cream though! -
Is it OH? I only want to know because I would like to know if there are other sleeve sites besides this one and OH.

411 on some things allowed post op?
Oregondaisy replied to roseyandmusic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Generic protonix is cheaper than nexium if your ins. does not pay for nexium. protonix is supposed to be as good as nexium. -
Protonix went generic. That is what I take. It costs me $10. It's supposed to be as good as Nexium. I don't get heartburn, but I take it with all the other junk I take in the morning. I don't know if I would get it if I didn't take that every morning. I didn't know it does anything to Calcium. My dad had severe osterporosis. I worry about my calcium intake.

Started with a Leak...Doing great now!
Oregondaisy replied to moore37042's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I remember Elizabeth and Susan advancing early and I called the office and they told me not to do it. The paperwork does say that, but it wasn't what Dr. Aceves told me, so I called. -
A question from my fiance
Oregondaisy replied to Malaika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I didn't get the leaking (pads) part either. Does having sleeve surgery cause TOM to come early or something? I am all done with that. I think the biggest thing someone can do for someone who is on the post op diet is not to eat something you love in front of you. I about killed my bf when he was eating Tom & Jerry's fudge brownie ice cream in front of me. I definitely told him that was not allowed. -
Is the sleeve a second WLS surgery for most?
Oregondaisy replied to attitudefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel that the fact that they use the muscular part of the stomach to make the sleeve, it's so much better than RNY. The sleeved stomach wilI not stretch as much. know so many people who have had RNY and gained weight and can't seem to lose it. Their stomachs or pouch or whatever you want to call it, is all stretched out. -
New here, need encouragement...
Oregondaisy replied to bren's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Usually if you lose one, there are more to follow. I always lose that way. I get stuck for a long time, then I lose a couple and a few days later lose a couple more. Then I am stuck again for awhile. -
I can't remember. How did they figure out you had a leak? Were you in pain or did you just flunk the leak test?

Sleeve vs. Lap Band
Oregondaisy replied to time2enjoylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt hungry the first few days on the clear liquid diet. WASa insisted it was not hunger I was feeling. She said it was air in my stomach. It felt like hunger pains to me. You know, stomach growling type hunger pains. That went away after a few days. I have not been hungry at all since moving to full liquids. Head hunger is another story. -
I am sure you will lose Steve. Every time I got stuck on a plateau, I put myself back on the liquid diet and was always able to break through it that way.
-
It was in paper work they sent me home with. I had a really hard time wtih that. I could drink 2 oz at least every 5 minutes and it was really hard for me to go slow.

80 lbs already lost and still losing
Oregondaisy replied to KathyG's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's always so nice to see people who have had their sleeve for awhile, since so many of us are new at this. Way to go! -
I found one I can live with. It's big in my little box when I am typing, but it seems ok in the actual post. Red is too bright. I am not a fan of green or purple. I tried quite a few colors and I think I am sticking with this. Thanks Alex!

She is doing great for only being 4 lbs 12 oz. She doesn't have any problems other than being tiny. She is nursing well and I think they are going home tomorrow. I bet my Walmart won't have those. They seem to have a poor selection of Atkins bars. They used to have a good selection, but now there are so many kinds of bars out, Atkins seems to have lost some shelf space.

I thought you went and saw him and he found something in your throat. -
I haven't been to Walmart since I got back from Arizona. I went to JC Penny and Ross to look for preemie sleepers for my new grand daughter. I need to go to Walmart tomorrow. I have to get dog food. They are remodeling our Walmart and I've heard it's a big mess in there. Gotta go to user CP and do something about this font!

Which Atkins bar do you like Elizabeth? There are quite a few of them that I like. I think they give me gas though. It seems like everything gives me gas.

Chat room is up and running
Oregondaisy replied to Ruthi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in there a bit ago and nobody was there. I could tell people had been in there though. I got to talk to Tiff and Angel awhile this afternoon though. -
I liked the fruit punch flavor.
