Non Scale Victory (NSV)
Oregondaisy replied to Elisabethsew's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh I am glad you posted that. I couldn't remember which thread I asked you that. Fruit would be the perfect option to add more stuff back. There are so many things in season right now. I don't know how you fit everything in. You work, you exercise a lot and you post a lot , keep up your blog, (which I enjoy reading btw) You must be one of those people that has to keep busy all the time. I know I gave up a lot of tv programs when I got hooked on LBT and now sleeve talk. -
I never tried mixing it in anything warm. I had heard that Protein powder gets lumpy when heated so I never made any attempt. My band doctor sells all sorts of stuff so I bought some tomato Soup from him that has 20 grams of protein in it, and I had egg drop soup. I put the unflavored Protein Powder in anything sf I could find and I didn't think it changed the taste of anything and it didn't get lumpy. It worked out great.

I really can't remember how long I waited. I am sure it wasn't long because as soon as I got home from the hospital, I felt normal and really could not even tell I had surgery. I am betting it was the night I got home from the airport or the next morning.

As soon as you are comfortable.
-
Do you have a GNC? That's where I got my unflavored Protein powder. Congratulations on getting your date!

At 5 wks - do you raise calories for exercise?
Oregondaisy replied to sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would never lose weight if I upped my calories to exercise. One reason I exercise is because it improves my moods, but if I ate more so I could exercise, I am sure I would not lose weight. I had a resting metabolic test taken, and it showed I have a very slow metabolism. -
I decided to start using up my unflavored Protein powder. I mixed a banana yoplait yogurt, soy slender and a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder together in my magic bullet. I have never had a Protein shake fill me up as much as this one did. I can't even drink my Water cause I am so full and I drank that hours ago. I thought the yogurt by itself would need some liquid. Next time I will use less soy slender.

i am struggling here
Oregondaisy replied to photogirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you have yogurt of sf pudding? There is also drinkable yogurt. I could have yogurt on full liquid. -
Are you considering going to Mexico to Dr. Aceves to get the sleeve or just live with the ins. company's decision and get the band? I heard Dr. Aceves is running a special for a lower price.
-
Congratulations on the weight loss. For chewing, I ate sf jello and sf popsicles when I was sick of drinking.
-
Yay, more and more people are changing their minds and getting the sleeve instead. It's great. I wonder if a lot of people still get the band only because they don't know about the sleeve.

If you do lose anymore, I will start worrying about you. You were talking about adding a few healthy things back so you could maintain. Is that working out okay? -
? how often do you go?
Oregondaisy replied to ALISIA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They told me liquids in liquids out when I was concerned about it. It went away just like everyone said it would, once I moved to mushies. -
8 days and counting... Need positive thoughts

You will have a wonderful experience with Dr. Aceves. Everyone there treats the patients like they are very special. I am sure you will miss your kids but the time will go by very quickly. You'll be on the road to recovery and changing your life in such a wonderful way. Congratulations! -
time after meals when you can drink
Oregondaisy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For some reason, I am having more trouble with this since sleeve surgery than I did with the band. I am more thirsty for some reason. Is it still one hour after meals before you can drink? I don't know what I did with my paperwork from Dr. Aceves office. I am wondering what they other doctors tell their patients too. I know with band surgery, some patients were told they could drink in 30-45 min. I've been watching the clock, and it's harder to wait than it used to be. Is it an hour after you finish eating or when you start eating? I try to stay busy so the hour goes by faster, but it seems like I am checking the clock all the time now. -
Try to convince Jaffa's wife to come in and introduce herself! We are a big happy family here and would love to have her be a part of it. I am glad to hear you're getting your liquids down and not feeling nauseous. You'll be feeling like your old self in no time at all. It sounds like you're having a great experience there, just like the rest of us! We need to have a Dr. Aceves family reunion!

I wonder that same thing. My hair has not been the same since band surgery and I started the Nioxin shampoo conditioner and scalp treatment before sleeve surgery. I am two months out today, and my hair is falling out like crazy. Pretty soon I will have to buy a wig.
-
I am really glad I went to Dr. Aceves. I loved being there, and would love to go back just for fun. There is no way my band surgeon who is now doing sleeves would have been able to do the surgery for the price I paid in Mexico by a dr. who is extremely experienced with doing revision surgery.

I had heard of these sites but just went to check them out today. They are both pretty good sites for good recipes, and have other good info. theworldaccordingtoeggface Dr. Gourmet Reviews common convenience foods and ingredients I just checked to make sure the links work, and they do. I am so computer illiterate, I had to go back and make sure I did it right.

I like to drink a Protein drink for Breakfast. I don't like eggs or any of the breakfast foods. It's way easier for me to drink a Protein Drink for breakfast and at least I know I am starting the day with 20 grams of protein. I think Dr. Aceves has his opinion but my band doctor who also does a lot of RNY's and is starting to do sleeves for people who are requesting a sleeve encourages people to drink at least one protein drink per day and I respect his opinion just as much as I respect Dr. Aceves.

Lisa I wish you the best with your surgery. I am sure it was a difficult decision to choose the surgery that would be best for you. My daughter had the RNY 3 years ago and has put about 40 lbs back on. When she first got the RNY she could not eat sweets at all because of that dumping syndrome. That is not the case anymore. That went away and she is really struggling to not continue gaining. Keeping the weight off is the ultimate goal for all of us. I'm glad you will be checking in with us and keep us posted on how you're doing.

Oregondaisy replied to ALISIA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you're on the post op diet, most people seem to get diarrhea until their diet progresses to soft foods. Now that I am 2 months from surgery today, I don't go every day. I am surprised though that when I do go, it's still soft. I am glad because with the band, I was constipated all the time. -
Jaffa's Wife Going For Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to Jaffa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't remember the number of my room. If you walk into that wing from the rest of the hospital, it was on the right. It was directly across from the nurse's station and it had a small white couch in the room. -
For those that went to Dr. Aceves...
Oregondaisy replied to TennJenn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I heard the food was really good there. My friend went with her brother and he loved their food. I don't know about the cost, but I can't imagine that it would be expensive . I can ask her if you don't get some more replies, but I am sure you will. -
