Do you have the powder to mix with water? I would think that mixing them with more water called for would make them less sweet.

Surgery this Friday (PV, Mex) Tell me what to take!
Oregondaisy replied to susimar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yeah, when I woke up I remember telling them my back hurt . they said it was from laying flat on the table for so long. All night long, my left shoulder hurt me and they gave me something in my IV for that . After that it was a breeze. I walked all around outside because I was completely bored in my room.I was not in pain at all. As for what to bring, I tell people to bring gum. Dr. Campos freaked out that I was chewing gum my first 24 hours. You can't drink for 24 hours and my mouth was so dry . I told him I had never swallowed gum in my life and that I would be careful. You might bring a heating pad too, which helps with the gas pain. They provided one to me, but I would imagine they might not have enough to go around. -
Welcome to sleeve talk Pennny ! We are glad you joined our sleeve family.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for Mexicali!
Oregondaisy replied to TennJenn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hope you have a nice flight. The only thing I hate about flying is that it's really boring. You will love Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos. You are on your way to becoming a skinny new you! -
I am really happy for you Judy. I am so glad you decided to have Dr. Aceves do you surgery and not let that ins. company decide you HAD to get a band. You won't be sorry!

Reflections from a Fat Chick
Oregondaisy replied to roseyandmusic's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am glad to see so many young people getting their sleeve surgery and will spend their lives thin. I was not fat in h.s. but as soon as I had kids, I was never able to lose the weight. I also wish I had done this years ago. -
I wish I could convince my friend that what she is experiencing is head hunger. She said she is so hungry since getting the sleeve. I asked her if her stomach is growling and she said no, it's just that she thinks about what can I eat next. It's funny that for those of us who are overweight, food stays in our thoughts. Those thin people who have never had to watch their weight, probably don't think about food the way we do. Then there are those lucky people who eat whatever and whenever they want, and never gain weight. I know since getting my sleeve, I think about food way less. It's definitely not an obsession for me the way it used to be.

There are so many people who have said they've lost their taste for sweets. I wish I was one of them. I am hoping my vit D test will give me some answers. Being deficient in Vit. D is supposed to cause sweet cravings. All those Protein drinks that everyone else says are too sweet, don't taste sweet enough to me. I add stevia to them!

Band to Sleeve Question...new here :)
Oregondaisy replied to wannabhealthy45's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can tell you that if you eat too much with the sleeve, you are very uncomfortable. It's actually painful. It feels like your stomach is going to burst open. It is not fun and not something I ever want to experience again just to have one more bite. -
I was amazed I did fine this time at the BBQ. There was so much good food, but I really only took about a teas. of the things I wanted. I surely didn't want that foaming and sliming to start. That is something that once you have a couple of times, you try really hard to only eat a little bit because it's so miserable.

Band 2 Sleeve in one operation?
Oregondaisy replied to june2010's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my band removed had my sleeve surgery all at once by Dr. Aceves. -
I haven't lost anything in weeks either. I didn't have much to lose though because I had my band removed before I gained too much weight back. I'm sticking to eating what I know I am supposed to eat, and realizing the rest may come off slowly and may not come off at all. I have 7 more lbs I would like to lose. I know if I stray from eating what I am supposed to and eat something like a piece of candy, I end up gaining a pound even though that candy is not 3500 calories. Then it will take me a week to take that lb off. So I am trying hard to not eat any sweets. Sweets are my big down fall.

Let's discuss "the foamies" and "sliming"
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The problem I have with solid protein like pork or beef is that I think I am not eating much, just a tiny bit. But because it's a dense protein, I need to eat less than what I think it the right portion. If I stop when I full, I end up too full. I need to stop before I am full so when the brain catches up with the stomach, I am not too full and miserable. -
I will be glad to see you when you have time to let us know how your're doing. In the mean time, hope you enjoy spending time with your son and eating and drinking go well!

I absolutely love hearing people changed their minds are are getting the sleeve instead of the band. I wish they would take the band off the market. It's my opinion that the band is dangerous and can cause serious problems to the stomach and esophagus.

Complications after Sleeve Surgery
Oregondaisy replied to attitudefree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't had any complications so far. I had surgery and came home and felt great right from the beginning. I had no trouble getting my protein or water in as soon as I got home. -
Need Answers about Sleeve Please!
Oregondaisy replied to NewSexyMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1-Compared to the lapband how difficult is it to eat "whatever"? Am I going to feel like I am going to die if I have a bite of something not considered Diet food?? There is no comparison. You can eat anything with the sleeve once you are off the post op diet. There are no foods that are off limits and "don't work" like there are with the band. You just can't eat very much. 2-Does the sleeve control your life as much as the band? Not at all. Most of the time I forget all about it. Beef and pork fill me up very fast. It's not that I can't eat that, but I can't eat very much of it. 3-Has anybody gotten pregnant with the sleeve? If so how did it affect you? can't answer this one 4-Can you vomit with out any consequences? Unlike the band that puking is a BIG NO NO! (I mean 10 months after my surgery, if I get the Flu, will I be ok to let it take its course with all the puking?) I have vomited because I misjudged how much to eat and ate too much. But it's not like the band where you have to worry about a slip or anything. 5-Do you get MALNURISHED with the sleeve? No. Once you hit goal, you can add more healthy foods back in, like more fruits and veggies and complex carbs. 6-Once you have reached your weight goal....can you STOP loosing weight? ( I dont want to be 5'7 and be 98lbs you know?) Of course. See above 7-Will I have to visit my DR every 2-3 weeks like with the band for the rest of my life?? No. I am supposed to have lab work done to make sure everything is fine, but I haven't been to the dr. once since getting sleeved. 8-WORST PART ABOUT HAVING THE SLEEVE?? Getting full really fast. You fill up your plate and there is really not much on it. It's not a problem, but sometimes you really want to eat more, but you just can't. 9-CAN YOU DO SIT UPS AND CRUNCHES WITH THE SLEEVE? (dumb question I know) Of course. 10-Is weight loss really alot faster with the sleeve than with the band?? It's faster because you don't have to wait to get fills to get restriction. You have it from day one. 11-Worst part about the sleeve Diet? What diet? I eat regular foods, just not very much -
Congratulations! That's a great weight loss!

He is so sweet that he probably wouldn't even mind!

CytoSport Muscle Milk Light?
Oregondaisy replied to TennJenn's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love muscle milk. That and the Peanut Butter chocolate that your get from netrition.com are my favorites. I live 100 miles from costco where I bought a case of muscle milk light here in Oregon. When I was in Arizona, I went to the costco there, and brought it home in my suitcase! -
Why is there hair loss?
Oregondaisy replied to Norma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a very good question that we all wish we had the answer to. I believe that it's just the shock of surgery to your system. Some people get it and some people don't. I lost half my hair when I got my band and it has still not recovered. I took every Vitamin and supplement I was advised to take for a few months prior and after the surgery. Nothing seemed to help. If anyone has any answers, I would really be happy to know what the answer to preventing hair loss is. -
It's ridiculous. So many people are overjoyed because they think the band is so wonderful, and they have no idea what a nightmare it can turn out to be. If I didn't say it already, congratulations on getting your date to get your sleeve.

I second that!
