Surgery this Friday (PV, Mex) Tell me what to take!
Oregondaisy replied to susimar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is not the case if you go to Dr. Aceves. You really don't need much cash at all. You're in the hospital for 3 days and don't need a dime. The only thing I spent cash on was to buy a phone card since my cell would not work. It was $3 -
Finally after an 11 month process.

I hope that's not true. I don't want to have gall bladder surgery! -
I know for sure my taste buds are screwed up. Today at work I ate a cookie. I thought it was pretty tasteless. My co-worker said "wasn't that the best maple cookie you have ever tasted?" I could not taste one bit of maple.

Having trouble transitioning into maintenance
Oregondaisy replied to MacMadame's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been doing dips for awhile now. It's one of the exercises my trainer showed me. I can definitely feel it in my triceps the next day. -

I do a group strength class twice a week. I can't afford my trainer anymore. He did teach me a lot of exercises for that area though. Yeah, the hanging skin is mostly there when relaxed. I've never thought of it that way before. -
Ambien has gone generic. It's way cheaper than Lunesta. Lunesta doesn't work as well for me as Ambien so I was thrilled when it became generic. It's now about $7

I've been trying for about a year to build muscle in my triceps with no luck. That's the area that bothers me the most. -
Is this how it is?????

My biggest wish is to be able to fall asleep like I normal person. It's like I get a 2nd wind at 9pm and I am wide awake. I could easily stay up all night and not feel tired. -
Protein Sample Information (especially for pre-ops!) Normally I hate OH. But this is a good post on how to get samples without buying much of a protein powder. They look like good deals to try a few things and not spend much money. Hope the link works. I suck at computer stuff.

Is this how it is?????
Oregondaisy replied to BeardedItalian48's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have any of the problems she is having either. I also had a hernia repaired at surgery, so I don't think that's what it is. I have no problem finishing a 24 oz bottle of Water in about 10 minutes. I drink 32 oz of water every day at work. (I only work 3 hours) When I work a full day, I drink two of those 32 oz bottles. I have no trouble eating chicken salad, meat loaf, the inside of a burrito, chicken breast, etc. The things I have had trouble with have been steak and pork. It's not that can't eat them, I just judge how much to eat incorrectly. I had no trouble getting all my Protein in as soon as I came home from the hospital. The problem I had was making sure to drink really slowly, since I was told to drink 2 oz every 10 min. I wanted to drink 8 oz in 5 min. -
i am struggling here
Oregondaisy replied to photogirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a good question. How long can swelling possibly last? I am asking because of my friend who can't eat at all. She can barely drink Water and she is a week behind me. I can easily drink a bottle of water in nothing flat. -
I doubt if I would ever spend the money on a face lift. I have already spent 20 grand on WLS. Plus I have heard that face lifts really hurt.

I have heard so many people who say they like those premier Protein drinks. It's the only one I have ever tried that I think is really nasty. It's funny how eveyone's tastes are different. I am glad I tried one at a friend's house before buying a case of them at costco. I love their Protein Bars though. I think they have too many calories for a Protein Bar. 300 calories. I have to only eat half of one. I think muscle milk is way better even if the protein grams aren't quite as much.

I looked at the ZRT website for a phone # and didn't see one. Can you pm me the phone # so I can call them and ask them to set me up?

Comparing band to sleeve? I'm worried.
Oregondaisy replied to brittu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
She still can't eat. She is extremely nauseous all the time and pukes often. I asked her if she is taking her Effexor and she said no, she is not able to take any pills at all. -
Let's discuss "the foamies" and "sliming"
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I did it again. I had my son and DIL over for dinner and their brand new 3 week old baby. I had meat loaf, (a very tiny piece) one broccoli flowerette, and one noodle. I thought I was good. Sure enough, 15 min later, the watery mouth starts up. It must have been that one noodle, huh? I have already thrown up a big wad of the foam 3 times (sorry TMI) but my mouth is still watering. I wish I would learn how to eat. -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Statistics say that in most cases, people only lose 50% of their excess weight with the band. There are people who have proved that to be wrong though. -
Why do women have anal sex?

Amazingly enough, there seem to be a lot of women who really like it. It really surprised me when I started this poll. -
Calorie/fat/carb counting post op..
Oregondaisy replied to susimar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr. Aceves likes us to be at around 800 calories per day, mostly Protein. It's not hard unless you add in any sugary Snacks. Most Protein drinks have around 120 calories. Everyone stalls. There is no way to avoid it. Sometimes your body just wants a chance to get used to it's new weight. -
She is crazy. She doesn't have time for those kids and they call their babysitter Mommy. She is a very busy attorney. Her husband has a son, she has an adopted daughter and a bio son. So they thought they needed a child together. That makes 5 kids in all. They are on a one month vacation to Minnesota right now, so I think she is finally getting a taste of what it's actually like to be a mom to 5 kids. the babysitter/nanny didn't go with them.

I take my vitamins in the morning with my protein drink. That seems to work well for me.

Oh, I thought you told me he hasn't had complications when I told you about my friend. You said you didn't want her to be his first one. Maybe I misunderstood you. I thought the OP was saying she was worried about cancer down the road. Dr. A or no doctor for that matter has control of that.
